- In todays video we head out of Newport Oregon in search of some Pacific Halibut. Stayed tuned to see me catch a 54” fish that weighed in at 61lbs. Hope you guys enjoy the video. Great video! Nice trip and beautiful fish! The broken rod was a bummer but sometimes it happens.
Yeah it was. I know to let out slack but was distracted on how he was going to get that big fish in the net when he came up. He had a harpoon but could not find the cord that morning so we only had the net but yeah it happens.
@@pnwchromecatchers wouldn’t beat yourself up over it. It’s a cheap fix.

nets are for salmon, not halibut , get a harpoon and a gaff
how many halibut per person / boat allowed?
Depends on the area you are fishing. This was in Newport it’s 2 a day 6 a year any size
How far offshore were you?
