dang that is sweet. These years of Mercurys were such great motors.
Are they I'm thi king of getting one identical to this.
I've just brought a Colt boat 9' with this exact engine and exact condition!! I paid £900 complete with trailer and looking forward to getting it on the sea! Thanks for the vid it's great.
For the people asking about the impeller change at 4 hours... It is always a good idea to change the impeller every year no matter what. The 20$ part can ruin the entire engine
I have the same motor. Not in the same condition though. Mine is being redone as we speak. Honestly I like the older 2 stroke motors. Light weight , easier to work on and more affordable
where in the world do you find all these motors....???????????????
This is an interesting motor. I was sailing in my boat three days ago (BRIG F400) with this exact motor, i hit three big wawes and lost controll. The boat flew sideways and knocked my around. I looked back at the motor which was still running, but it was hanging in to small guiding mounts. The main cast iron mount was broken in three pieces. I had my friend tow me back, again, with hes Yamaha. So if you are going to be jumping big wawes, you should choose another motor!
i saw this comment on another video too :!
Its is not only the running hours that matters, over time all rubber becomes brittle.. and thats the reason to change your impeller every 1-2-3-4 years, maybe more - depending on the condition its in..
What year is the motor?
sold last week for $1325
$2500 it would be worth today
Nice motors for sure
What year motor is this
Can you please help me out, do you have part number for tiller handle setup, It appears in canada the part was discontinue
What year is this? I just bought one from a friend wich he got it from his uncles estate. He bought it new and put it in his basement and never ran it. I got mine for $800. I just took it in for a pre inspection delievery.
I have 1 just as clean and love it !!!! Bad ass on pump gas!!!!!
I need this same motor!!! I have one in my shed , but it’s junk lol.
I took it to a local mechanic years ago and he literally busted the midsection in pieces. Tried to say it happened when he loosened the power head bolts. My other mechanic said that would never happen. 99.99999 percent certain he over tightened them. And some how my carburetor is missing !!!!!! Kinda of a coincidence when me and him were looking at the same motor he had in his shop for repair the one that was almost perfect was “ missing “ a carburetor and all a sudden mine is missing. The asshole stole my carb and screwed up my midsection. Well , let’s just say he’s no longer in business any more after I contacted a good lawyer. Found out the idiot wasn’t even certified to work on mercury outboards
what year is the motor?!
Very nice.
Hello I have the same engine, only 20 horse, can be converted to 25 ?
Alex Ander yes with a carb swap. There also could be timing adjustments or a different reed block depends.
Kill switch is in the end of tiller handle
My grandpa has one in our garage not looking as good as this one but similar but dusty
Is it still for sale and how much?
So I was looking at one of these used and my neighbor told me they’re a real pain in cold weather because you can’t give it any throttle to warm it up without it being in gear. Anyone have any experience with that?
Do you know what year this motor is? I have the same one but can't seem to find the year anywhere. Thanks
@@jacobavery9799 I just bought 1 just like it. Mine is 1988 but looks just like this one except mine is pull start. Motor probably has 100hrs if that many.
I've got this exact motor in great shape. I am not getting any spark at either of the spark plugs. Disconnected kill switches and still no spark. Any other common problems that causes no spark at all to both cylinders?
Get it going?
Switch box?
My mercury doesn’t decelerate all the way down ? When I shift all the way back to N -
1985 that motor is
or should I ask what is the serial number is so I can see how close it is to mine and ware is it the motor that is???
Mine is exactly the same except electric start.
Hi i have an engine that look like this, do you know what the exact name for this engine is, and what year this model was made?
newer rew outboard engine like that...
Hey I have a question do you know what the psi should be on this motor I have the same exact motor mins the electric start both of the cylinders are at 110 psi Thanks btw I'm adding electric start this weekend
Bears Cubs lo compro
MERCURY MOTORS MADE THIS STYLE MOTOR IN AN 18 H.P., NOT JUST THE 25! ALSO, THE EARLY LATE 1980'S VERSION HAD STEEL CYLINDER SLEEVES! BUT LATER THEY STOP USING STEEL SLEEVES (BAD BAD IDEA!!!) AND INSTEAD SIMPLY CHROME-PLATED THE ALUMINUM CYLINDER HOLES WHICH WAS A BAD IDEA!!! THEY DECIDED TO GO BACK TO STEEL SLEEVES, THANK GOD!!!
ok
Why u running water through?
Do you know how to wire the turn key to this into this outboard
I have the same motor, what dose your serial number start with a or b and how much????? 1991 o and I do have another 1 like that with racing props the only problem is yours might be a be a Belgium made motor, but if the price is right I am interested!!!
I have a 1985 in similar condition. Like brand new. It’s pull start only though. My neighbor wants to buy it, I’m wondering what is a fair price for it.
How much would you like for your motor? I may be interested I am looking for a pair of these for a mini race boat i am building tellmeyo @ aol . com
It is to trim the motor.
I know this is a long shot but I have a motor that looks just like this. The serial is a716309. I am unable to find it on the Mercury online parts site so I’m not sure what carb it would take. Can anyone give me hand on the part number for the carb and the gasket as well? Or even better a way that would bring me to the proper parts catalog for my engine
I'm in the same situation except I don't have a serial number or model number because the guy I bought it from had painted it
What year is yours?
How much are you selling it for ???
4 hours on it. And you needed an impeller?
WestWaters ... Dry rot I assume.
@@_Lure_ good thinking
Is this for sale?
how much do you want for it
What was the fuel oil mixture for this???
50:1
why you put a new impeller in it after 4 hour?
jasper commissaris its been sitting up for yearss was obviously probably dry rotted
Direct injection or carb?
+rc pilot this year would be carb
what exactly is shallow drive?
A Shallow water drive is an extra trim setting for shallow water.
Why all That new stuff when It has only run 4 hours?!?!?!?!?
+Jeffrey Zielman the gaskets and impeller dry out and disintegrate when it's not used
year?
Hahahaha i have one in good condition to
lol
Johnson I the best
not necessarily
eric edic

It's mid 90's.
Run the serial number of yours and it will tell you exactly
Direct injection or carb?
Carb
