I deeply appreciate this video. My headlight went out recently and knew youtube would have the exact angles. Your directions and footage are clear and concise. I fixed the issue all for the cost of the parts. Thanks for your money saving tips.

One of the things that sets your videos apart is the excellent picture quality. It's much better than a typical video made with a cell phone that's fuzzy and jumps around. What kind of camera are you using and how do you keep the camera so stable?
Victor Sorlie Thanks Victor. I have a Panasonic TS3 and it has image stabilization. I also edit the footage extensively for image stabilization, sharpening, contrast, color, etc.
ChrisFix Whatever you're doing to make these quality videos, keep it up. People like us appreciate quality youtube videos that doesn't mainly rely on gimmicks.
Zeppelinlv2007 Thanks! I will definitely keep it up and I try to get better and better!
New automotive videos every Thursday and most Mondays so stay tuned!
Thanks Chris, ur a real life saver lol, I couldn’t get my lights out in my Mazda, cause they were stuck and I didn’t know there was another clip hidden. Thanks again
Chris your videos have helped me keep my 1999 Mazda B300 on the road. Thanks. Last weekend a stone hit my driver's side headlight. After fighting for 15 minutes trying to remove the bottom connection. I discovered that a 5/8 six-point socket fits on perfectly to depress the tabs. Thanks.
Your timing for this is impeccable. Waiting for the aiming guide!!
Korey Moore Haha, perfect! Thursday the headlight aiming video will be published so stay tuned!
Dude I have a b2300 ..2006...just in an accident..front end...replacing both lamps...THIS WAS SO HELPFUL.....THANKS.
I need to give back to the community as well I never record me fixing stuff but I will soon we all could use extra help between all of us it's helps a whole lot
Hey Chris, I'm a new subscriber and I really enjoy watching your videos. You make the tasks which otherwise are intimidating look easy. I've tried it on my car and it works great. Especially super cleaning my car. Good job😊😊
Looks awesome Chris! My 1995 Accord coupe requires me to remove the front bumper cover and rebar in order to replace the headlights. What a PITA! Took me over a damn hour and a slew of broken clips. But they look great.
aquateen77723 Wow that is crazy. Did you see this video for next time: th-cam.com/video/UEJbKLZ7RmM/w-d-xo.html
Chris I really enjoy you're videos. good job brother. I also appreciate you responding to you're comment.
Emin HVAC Thanks man! I am glad you are enjoying my videos! I try my best to respond to all comments and questions! It is all part of the learning process to be able to ask questions!
ChrisFix thank you for your great efforts
Thanks again Chris. I sure learn a lot from you.
BAYOUMAN No problem! Glad you are learning a lot!
Do you have or could you possibly make a video on how to replace normal headlight bulbs with LEDs? I wasn't able to find it if it already exists.
I would like to do this if it's possible once I go through some of your other headlight related videos. Lol.
Appreciate your content, very high quality.
Ur voice sounds familiar thanks I believe I watched some of ur videos ur a good fixxer upper sir
As always thanks for your great videos and instructions plus details. You do a great job Chris. You do your parents proud!!!
There’s no other videos on how to do these specific trucks headlights so thanks for this 😫 I thought it’d be as simple as two tabs like other fords but I guess they switched that factor out lol
Of course! And I guess they did lol
@@chrisfix dude you're so awesome for still replying to comments from vids from 6 years ago hahah
I missed the source info for LEDs that you showed recently, I have seen them around, but they want too much money.
I think you have contacted me before, I would be so thankful for that LED source info.
It's time to obtain some for my ride, and my customers, Thanks for all the neat tricks,
James
James Fenton If you ever need what part I used, the link of the part or tool will be in the description (something new I am trying). As for those LEDs I used for the license plate in this video: How to Install LED License Plate Lights (62 cents a bulb)
I used these LEDs: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPA7BXU/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00EPA7BXU&linkCode=as2&tag=chri0e2-20&linkId=PGHUPS2AJE5IJW2L
And if I do not have a link to a tool or the part in the description, just comment and let me know and I will put one in there for you!
They look fantastic :-)) well worth the money :-))
One addition, you could have measured the threded section of each adjuster and wound the new ones to the same spot roughly, makes them closer and quicker to align in the next video :-)
zx8401ztv Thanks for the tip! I would have definitely done that, but my old headlights were off so bad, it would have made it worse lol. These came pretty close to the correct alignment from the factory which was pretty sweet! Good idea for other people though! Thanks bud!
zx8401ztv No, that is a good tip I didnt mention. I was just explaining why I didnt do it lol. I really enjoy your suggestions and ideas so keep them coming!
ChrisFix
I am pulling your leg chris lol :-)
But you know that :D
Very helpful video! Thank you very much! 👍
This wasn't helpful to me, because I don't have Ford Mazda B Ranger :D But I gave the video thumbs up anyway :D Great vid as always!
February Thanks man! Yea, this was a little specific but the headlight aiming video on thursday is universal!
ChrisFix
That should be exciting! Can't wait!
@@chrisfix Link for that vid plz
Great video. I broke my hubby truck lights. I do I change the little orange one next to the one YOU showed in the video
Two ways to change a headlight:
1) Do exactly as Chris shows here - go have yourself a beer. :)
2) Get carried off to the local sanitarium because you spent the last 2 hours screaming on the driveway because you bought one of those cars which you have to take off the entire front clip just to get to the headlight....!!
Not that I'm speaking from experience or anything...heheheh...
Um...good video btw. I need to go sit down apparently...
GammaCruxis hahaha yea some headlights are a real pain! I cant imagine what the engineers were thinking when they came up with taking a front bumper off to change a headlight bulb!
ChrisFix *cough* Honda Accord *cough*
Heart Breaker Chevy Malibu *cough*
Hi Chris, i was not able to find the link to the parts, am i missing something? Thank you for your help as always.
Thank you!! Awesome video!
I got pulled over bc of the head light being out due to a accident my mom had so this is helpful for me to do it myself
One tip, is, if the old headlamps are well adjusted, turn the adjusters to match the old headlamps, this gets them in the ball park for easier and quicker aiming.
Those new headlights look stunning
Chris Thanks man! They really look great and more importantly, have great light output!
Looking at the xenon bulb upgrade as well.
love the HF lights. i had a pair forever on my 96 ranger. but i was glad when i swapped to leds
gunner9174 Yea man! For $30 a pair, you cannot go wrong! I want some LEDs in the front as well!
they make kits where you can make your own quality led bar/ pods. it saves you half the money and it's better than the chinese ones on ebay. but i shopped around and found a deal that got me 4 4led pods for $50 + $3 for shipping
gunner9174 How do they work? Do you like them?
love em. they're aimed slight;y down about 15 degrees. but they go farther and brighter than the brights of the headlights
gunner9174 Ill have to check it out!
Chris did you push on the headlight to help remove the retainer clips? The reason I'm asking is mine (99 B4000) are incredibly tough to get out. I've tried pliers, needle nose pliers, snap ring pliers on the holes and have had no luck. I finally got one top clip to come off with much force and a regular set of pliers. I ordered a T-handled hook for removing brake springs and clips to aid with the removal, and am waiting for it to come in but darn! These things are really secure. That's why I'm asking about pushing on the front of the headlight. I haven't tried it yet but I suspect that might relieve some of the tension. BTW, my retaining clips are not rusted to the body as they will move (spin) with force in place.
The reason I'm removing them is I purchased replacement headlights and side marker turn signal lenses.
TIA for your answer.
I just changed out the headlights on my 04 accord. It was a huge pain, had to take the front bumper off just to get them undone. Hopefully these new lights last longer than the car itself because I’m not wanting to ever do that again
Thanks Chris !
The way to change a Ranger headlight is actually a little bit different from this.(I was restoring them using ChrisFixs headlight restoration vid ;)) I was actually surprised when I got to headlight because it did not have the little bolts with a clamp but rather two large clamps of each side that just need pulled up then the headlight is unlocked, a little easier than the b3000 since you don't have to go under the truck xD great video nonetheless
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! That helped me tremendously and saved me money! Thanks again for your help!!
you should make a video: how to retrofit a pair of projector lens into an OEM headlight housing. This gives it a nice cutoff line so you won't blind oncoming traffic. I've done it myself with D2s projector lenses. so much better than reflector styled headlights.
hawaiianflavor69 That is actually exactly what I am going to do lol. I am working on getting projector lenses and figuring out how to make the video(s). Thanks for the suggestion.
Hey Chris. Huge fan! I have a 2007 Volvo S80, and the low beam bulb died. I got a replacement, installed it, double checked, and it’s still not working despite it being a new bulb. Would love your help! Thank you.
Thank you for posting these videos. They're very informative. Can you tell me where I can find the vertical adjustment screw? I have a 1996 Ford Ranger and this particular part is discontinued. Thank you in advance
cam4671 I would go to a junk yard.
Hi chris you should make a video on how to replace the front turn signal/marker lights bulbs for the same model truck you have i've tried for a couple min but gave up after a while i was trying to swap the stock bulbs to led's
Watch his vid "how to replace blinker fluid" he shows how
Mr. Me lol
Make sure you get a resistor or switch out your stock flasher relay for an LED capable one, or your blinkers will be on hyper flash mode.
Just curious Chris, are you making a video on replacing your head gasket replacement on the Chrysler PT Cruiser?
always wanted to know how its done from someone who actually makes quality how-to videos.
Mathew Banou I was not planning on doing a head gasket video becuase that engine needs a lot more than that lol, but it might be a good learning opportunity. Hmmmmm, now you have me thinking!
This was super helpful!.thanks for posting!!
Hazle kin No problem! Glad the video was helpful!
hi chris , Firstly keep on the good work .
second , could u do a video or an explanation about a bad Variator ?
TheKoderius I dont have any VVT engines unfortunately. What specifically do you want to know?
i live in israel and own a alfa romeo 156 2001
2.0 ts -selespeed with 180K-km on it. engine had an overall in February.
i dont know if u r familiar with this car model -anyways , i get this engine jerk+hesitation every time i live the gas pedal at around 3000 rpm.
i dont know if its an engine mount \ transmission mount or a faulty variator .
i know its hard to diagnose through the internet - just maybe u had an idea what else to check.thanks!
by the way - where r u from in the states ? what kind of accent is that ?
TheKoderius Here is a video on how to check engine mounts: How to diagnose a bad motor mount or transmission mount
Watch that then test your car out. Does it only happen in drive or can you do it in neutral too? Any check engine lights?
I am from the New York area.
ChrisFix hi thanks for your replay.
it doesnt happen in neutral or when car is parked .
The hesitation happens AFTER i get the foot OFF the throttle . it can happen in 2nd gear or 3rd as well .
when i press down the pedal car is responding well. when i LEAVE the foot - car seems to choke and jerk for about 1-2 sec.
+my gas pedal is soooo soft i can literally drive it with my pinky toe .:)
hey I have a b3000 2006 was looking for same lamps as mime as DONE were did u buy yours I can't find them for less than $200:(
great video tho really helped
Chris how do you replace rear view mirror outside temperature gauge thanks bavid b
Bello Christ. My headlights went off a the same time. Can you give me a clue for solving my problema? Thanks Chris.
Chris, are those new head lights from parts max? If yes are they the same one you used for the crown Vic in the project police intercepter episodes?
Great Video! I subscribed to your channel
Chrisfix there are few common fixes people would like to know how to fix like < fixing the side mirror of a car or the rear mirror as these glues in the auto shops don't really work and how to refabricat the car celling in old cars or the doors fabric
+Faleh alarabi Good ideas!
Hey Chris, I know this is an old video but I was wondering what is the name of the new headlights. The ones I have found are around $189-199. and Do Not come with bulbs in them.
Look up "DEPO Mazda B3000/Ford Ranger Headlights" and the ones I got should show up
@@chrisfix Thank you for the reply
Perfect, as usual
Hassan Ali Thanks Hassan!
great video, wish my b4000 would give up the headlights. the clips are so stuck that 2 of the tabs you clamp on ripped off completely. ordered new tabs and I'm gonna melt/ cut/dissolve the plastic bits
I've had the same issue. Haven't busted them yet, but they're stuck bad enough, I'm afraid to Hulk out on them. Thinking of trying snap ring pliers for it next.
***** You will see in a future video! It was worth the mistake ;)
ChrisFix are those stock bulbs or aftermarket?
Stock bulbs. I am going to do a projector retrofit soon with aftermarket bulbs!
Sweet can't wait. Keep up the good work!
Brit Hull Thanks man! I cannot wait either!
To the point on the video but my question is do you have a video on the side lights how to redo them
What do you mean redo?
@@chrisfix maybe I should have said replace the side markers on a Mazda B3000 04
Where the front turning signals are
What’s the company you ordered the headlamps from?
Where did you get the new headlights, the ones on my ford ranger are CRAP, I drive with high beams and it looks like a dim low beam
Can you tell me what exact headlights these are and if they would fit on a 2002 ranger?
OE Replacement Mazda Pickup MA2503113 Pass MA2502113 Driver on Amazon
Where did you order your headlight assembly from?
Hey ChrisFix, you wouldn't happen to have the old housings anymore would you? Or at least one of them?
Thanks! My brother's car head light died, so only 1 headlight was on at nighttime
0:04 i was thinking this was an old video by chrisfix but untill you took off the old headlight i didnt say single word
Good afternon Chris I have a question. I dont know if you can answer but here we go I have a 98 Mazda B1500. I' m trying to fix it up little by little. Do you know if the Ranger 98 headlights are the same. Any information can help, by the way thanks in advance.
At 6:25 I started typing the alignment question and then you added it to the end. I should have known you would not skip that... :-)
***** haha, of course! I didnt want this video to be too long and there is a lot of neat stuff to talk about when adjusting headlights so I will be fliming and editing for Thursdays release!
Where did you get your new headlights? All the ones I find are rough and bumpy on the lenses, I want the smooth ones like these in the video
tx GOOD work KEEP it UPPPPP
art obando Thanks Art!
I'm looking to get new headlights for 2005 C240 Benz, I don't think the process to install the headlights is as easy as yours.
Hey Chris, i got a 98 ranger. I needed to see how to change them. thanks.
Question, my driver side assembly had the 9007 bulb (brightest white, worth 45 bucks) the bulb melted and blew apart inside the assembly. I checked fuses, theyre ok so im lost any ideas?
And where did you buy the replacements from? Can u provide a link?
Beutiful intro🙏🙏
Are the headlight assemblies recyclable?
Are there small enough vacuums to fit in a headlight bulb hole in order to suck up broken glass? Example would be if the headlight were removed, and then the bulb, so that just the casing is off with the hole being easily accessible. Or should the whole headlight be replaced? The lenses look fine, it's just a broken bulb inside it. Any help will be appreciated.
Spektrum There are a few options. You can take the headlight out and shake it as you try to vacuum the pieces out and make them fall into the area of the vacuum. You can also do this: th-cam.com/video/TXvBkHlwDgA/w-d-xo.html
ChrisFix Thanks for the help. I'll try the shaking method first.
I have an odd issue. I ordered some headlights for my 98 Mazda B2500 SE and the "star adjuster" on it is not a star at all but a circle. Any idea how to get the dang things to work on my truck. Ironically it said it was compatible with my truck,, what a joke.
Same problem I have! I just bought a 2003 B3000. The dude who sold it to me replaced ONE of the headlights and gave me the other new in the box. I thought "that's silly; why would he buy the pair and only do one?" I found out exactly why after screaming and cursing in my driveway like a madman for an hour trying to work the plastic/rubber things through to get the clips on. Cheap made-in-tiawan-brand crap! I walked away once it started raining, which might have preserved what little sanity i have left. Looking at OEM Mazda stuff now at $200 a pop!! $400 for two headlights!!!!!
I have a 2002 Mazda B3000. Clips look about the same, however, I haven't been able to get the clips off. I've used a lot of pressure too and I'm getting no-where. Any other tips?
A Geek Dad I mean, what you saw is what I did. You can use a needle nose pliers to help pull.
My cars headlights are really weak, even with brand new bulbs. Could it be the reflectors yellowing/darkening? The lenses are glass so they're not hazy or anything.
Or maybe i'm just using bad bulbs? They're some Philips H1 bulbs that cost 3.5€...
Hi Cris would you please show me about jaguar s type 2001 headlights bulb changing on high beam side with thanks
2:55 Broke the clip
Do you know if aftermarket 98 ranger headlights would fit in a 98 Mazda b4000? There really isn't any options for aftermarket Mazda headlights besides oem.
+Isaac Niles I am not sure but I do not think so.
lol little carried away with heat gun...I replaced mine to but man having a hell of a time getting them adjusted tho.
01 ranger has long metal bars you pull up on each side to release so little different then mazda.
Throw some Sylvania ultra bulbs in it next, put some in mine and they are brighter. HID's would be nice to.
Jason Bilow Yea, these are a pain to adjust. IDK who has a 4mm wrench lol. I am going to end up using a narrow tip vice grips.
ChrisFix here ya go lol
www.ebay.com/itm/Lisle-14540-Headlight-Adjusting-Ratchet-for-Ford-/171530786026?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27f00814ea
WOW! I wish I had that for my other video on how to adjust headlighs. Figures they make a special tool for it! Thanks Jason!
ChrisFix Saw your video earlier, I need to do it next! Sure is a lot to get these things adjusted lol.
Man, I wish it was this easy for my car! Damn japanese cars haha
CodysDesigns Yea, sucks when it is complicated! Especially since a light bulb doesnt last forever!
I have to take off my bumper to take it off, or even change the bulb. However, there is another way I changed my bulb but it was such a pain
CodysDesigns Unbelievable!
Do you have any idea where to find some aftermarket headlights for this model truck?? I have a b4000 and I can't find anything but factory.. I was wondering if the 97 ranger headlights would fit the mazda
Ranger and B Series front ends are different. Would have to do a front end swap all the way to the fenders.
CHRIS HEEEEELP !! i have a 02 b4000 and im trying to change the turn signal bulb how do you do it !
Watch the blinker fluid video. It shows how to change the front turn signal bulbs.
Looks great. Did you use a headlight assembly from Mazda or after market. The reason I ask is that one headlight reviewer on another website said that aftermarket headlight optics are not up to par with original equipment. For my 2006 Honda Accord I can get right and left headlight assemblies off Ebay for about $85 and claimed to be OEM, but from auto parts stores they start at about $230 for both assemblies. Of course dealer price is over 500 for right and left retail, discounted to about $360 at HondaPartsNow.com. The Ebay of one seller says they are OEM, but I know there are several definitions of what that means. I know I have gone off the restoration subject to a large degree and I'll understand if you don't want to get into all that.
BAYOUMAN I went aftermarket because the original equipment was something like $250 each! I wouldnt buy them off ebay, I would try a reputable parts store that has a warranty such as *****. That is where I got mine! Ebay OEM is some guy who cannot speak English saying they are oem so he can sell them. Ebay is good for somethings, but aftermarket headlights has always been a bust for me and my friends. You might find a good pair of used Honda headlights from a scrap yard or something on ebay.
ChrisFix
Thanks Chris I appreciate your advice.
BAYOUMAN NP man! Also, if you cant find any headlights that are cheap enough, it might be worth the risk on Ebay. Just gotta think about it. Lets say the ebay headlights last you 5 years while good OEM lasts you 10yrs or so. If the price is half, then it might be worth a shot. Obviously you wont know how long ebay headlights will last, but maybe you can find one with a warranty... Just food for though!
Chris got aftermarket headlights from a company called "DEPO".
They are well known for making OEM "Style" replacement headlights.
I would say they are one of the best aftermarket companies for fit and finish.
But yes, actual OEM equipment is always best.
kentmocc Good to know!
Do I have to take the front bumper off on a Holden Astra?
And what were you doing with the heat gun?
Is it the same process for the tail lights?
Nope. Tail lights come out with a Philips screwdriver.
My blinkers stopped working along with my hazards earlier today. When I put on my turn signal (both ways) i get no clicking and no arrow on my dashboard, also when I put on my hazards I get no flashing lights. Could this be my blinker relay switch?
+McPePsii just replaced my flasher relay and now my hazards work but not on the front passanger side. cant seem to figure this out
+McPePsii It could be the multi-function switch as well. Check the bulbs to make sure they are good. Also check the fuse.
+ChrisFix the bulbs are good, after i replace the relay i took a test drive and my turn signals began working and my hazards aswell, however on my drive home my blinkers stopped working again but my hazards work fine now.
+McPePsii fuses seem good aswell, and brake lights work fine. Just my turn signals. But my hazards are strange, sometimes i turn them on and only 1 side works.
Why can battery be left plugged/connected this time? I don't get it.
Hello Chris. why you are not using LED headlight ? is it official in your state?
Camry le You need to run projector lenses to use a brighter bulb, I am doing a projector retrofit on the old lenses and making new lenses. Dont worry, there will be videos of everything!!
ChrisFix That sounds good. I'm waiting
Camry le
LEDs are actually really hard to use as headlights. The problem with LEDs is that they LOOK bright, but they actually aren't. In terms of light output, the original halogens often tend to be brighter, even if they don't look like it. If all you need is to make a lens look brighter, LEDs are perfect. Not the case with headlights. It's the light OUTPUT that matters. High-power halogens have quite a bit of that, and the reflector is specifically designed to aim it into usable light. LEDs don't handle heat very well, so feeding more power into them is really hard. The setup needs strict power control and convoluted heatsinks, which usually makes them really freakin' expensive. It CAN work, but it ain't pretty. That's why xenon bulbs tend to make better HIDs.
John Roddy Thanks for all of these informations. very helpful
ChrisFix Oooh! Interesting!
where did you buy the headlight?
Headlights for my Volvo S60 are $350 for a set!! My Saab 9-7x with factory HIDs are even more! $310 for a set! Now I wish I bought domestic.
Seth Allen CRAZY! That is when you do this instead: th-cam.com/video/UEJbKLZ7RmM/w-d-xo.html
OEM vs Aftermarket?
I wish my 2000 Ford Ranger was this easy. I need Pliers and needle nose pliers
Nature’s Offspring I’m changing some for a 99 Ranger. Did you find a good video? Thx in advance
Can you send me a link for these lenses I have the same exact truck I can’t find them anywhere
Rock Auto
How's about a video on how to replace a HL bulb on a Mazda 3? Should be simple huh? It's a nightmare. My GF has one and there is this ridiculous retaining wire that seems impossible to fit. Why would they engineer something like that when a perfectly fine functional system exists already?
newcoyote Dang that stinks! I hate when engineers dont think things though! I cant imagine having to take off a whole front bumper to replace a headlight bulb or turn signal bulb. They must know these things burn out!
Put some 6k HIDs Chris
israel 20 Soon, I need to do the projector retrofit first. I dont want to blind people with normal headlights. But definitely will be upgrading these!
At least 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Headlight lenses aren't too expensive!
PS Ihave a 2002 Mazda 2300 p/u any videos for that will help THANK YOU HAPPY VETERAN DAY to ALL >>>>>>>>>>>>>>
art obando Great! I have a lot of videos on the Mazda Pickup!
should you wax new headlights or no?
Yes for sure! That keeps them looking new!
Should they also be clear coated?
+ChrisFix, for the new housings, should we clear coat them the same as in your restoration video for better aging?
The passenger side is way harder to get to the lower anchor clip! Definitely not the same on both sidee

i think i can do this on my own! wish me luck! lol
So you did it ?
Replying after 2 years ahem*
DEPO assemblies
Wish we could just go back to sealed beans
The head lights are pretty cheap if your to lazy like buff them out.
