Also, I know I missed some things. Temmie village, Mettaton's house. San's room. And a few other odds and ends. But even so, I found that to feel satisfying, and damn great to experience even with not everything explored.
Absolutely one of my favorite games of this year. Without a doubt. I really, really gotta say I'm a fan.

Granted, after being a pacifist on the first part, everyone online was pestering him to be a pacifist. Although, he told us that, by default, he's willing to be a pacifist if a game allows it.

There's actually this one part in the previous episode where he almost says "Wait, I don't r-..." probably saying he doesn't remember. I'm not really sure what time, but it was when he was reading the "other story".
The fact that Asriel is the only one is trapped down in the underground... yeah... that broke me more than anything about this game... we need another ending... HE. NEEDS. TO. BE. SAVED!

Alternate passivist ending suggestion: offer your soul to asriel to keep living. The cost of giving your soul to him is that you never get to play the game again. This option would still be available after a genoside run but the result turns sour if a genoside run is done before.
Someone made an AU where Frisk gives up their soul to save Asriel called Dremurr Reborn

+Mikolam07 I think he meant that the player (in this case, Cry) was Klowbi, cos he said "you." I think all along you were Klowbi, and that's why you got to choose the name. And you were basically controlling Frisk or something. Like since Flowey didn't have a soul that was cos Asriel's and Klowbi's souls left, and maybe that's why Frisk climbed the mountain. They got the soul of Klowbi, who wanted a second chance to either destroy everything or not.

I have another really late thing to say.
I've watched this playthrough numerous times, sometimes just putting it in the background to listen to while doing productive stuff. I dunno if that really counts as watching. But it's become my go-to playthrough to rewatch.
This is one my favourite playthroughs of Cry's.
Not just because I am absolute, complete Undertale trash.
I love this playthrough because you can tell how Cry progressively becomes more and more emotionally invested in the story and of course, the characters. The change is actually pretty drastic.
As he says himself in this video, many people were talking about Undertale when it came out. People were demanding let's players to play it and "by the way don't kill anything or you're gonna have a bad time".
If you go back to the very beginning of this playthrough, Cry sounds bored, although he was probably trying to hide it. He didn't care about the game so much as satisfying people to make them shut up. He played the game just to see what everyone was talking about, but when you hear so many good things about something, you sorta go outta your way to find something wrong.
Cry went from being so done with everything to being speechless at how good Undertale turned out to be. As he met more and more characters and learned more about the world of Undertale, he grew to genuinely care about the characters, put himself into Frisk's shoes, and played the game it was meant to be played- heartfelt and sincere. He didn't cover up or tone down his feelings during gameplay, and we got to see how much the game affected him.
And once again, I have to congratulate Cry on a game well played.

Cry, I've seen lots of different play-throughs of this game, and I must say that yours is my favorite. You reacted well to it, made your emotions known, and (above all else) actually went back at the end to see how all the monsters turned out. You wanted to see them, and you rooted for them the entire time. Yours is the first one that I've seen that the player has gone ALL the way back to the beginning to see Asriel. Thank you, Cry.

God, I love this game. It's so moving. So touching, and yet so simple... it makes me feel better about everything, tells me to stop worrying. It tells me I can be a hero, even if it seems like nobody likes me. It tells me I have friends, so many friends, I just haven't met them yet. And one day I'll meet them. One day I'll be like Frisk, and I'll find hope in the darkest of places, and support in the worst of times. It makes me feel happy. This game gives me hope.
I know this sounds stupid, but maybe, just maybe... one day, I'll make something like this. A game so simple and easy to follow, yet so moving, that affects so many people and lets them find their own peace. Most projects I work on end up in failure. I've come to realize that. But I want to make my own Undertale. Something so uniquely, stupidly simple, yet so beautiful and hopeful. Maybe, just maybe, I will. And Toby Fox has given me hope. So has Temmie. So has everyone on this amazing team. I know that I can. I just need _determination_.
Thank you, Undertale. Thank you Cry. Thank you Toby, thank you Temmie, thank you tiny little Undertale team that did so much in so little time.

The amount of thought that was put into this game is astounding, you can even get to Sans's lab by replaying the game and doing another pacifist game, and then reloading the save file when he tells you his secret word.
Also playing the game over again people will recognize you but not fully, and keep hinting that they've been through this before.
This is truly a game that could define gaming as a whole. Replayability, multiple endings, funny laughs, sad feels, and gives the best feeling in the world to play. Great work Toby, hope we see more life-changing work by you.

I watched this series 3 times, and by other youtubers as well. And I still cried.
I found this game in February actually so I'm late to the party but I know have it and watch everyone play it and draw it all the time, never thought I'd get attached to a game like this.

+TheAznFlash I think part of the point was for the character to be gender-neutral. It allows the player to more easily project themselves into it. That's why the name "Frisk" is used and why none of the characters give any indication as to their gender.
I think it was too obvious. (Aside from the gender component). When people hear that the character was Alice, some people would like "pfft, I should of known" or "Did you really have to do that? Really Toby?" There were people who would have negative feelings over the name. Frisk is better.

I think Undertale shows how two incredibly similar characters can make completely different choices.
Klowbi hated humanity. We never find out why. They are a child, they must have had a terrible family and an abusive household. Maybe they lost someone precious, like their mother or father. Klowbi ran away to Mt. Ebbott and was given everything they lacked: a kind brother, a wonderful mother and father, and a place to call home. However, despite their hatred, they weren't satisfied enough. Instead of accepting the love given to them, they practically used it to try and seize power and possibly destroy humanity and/or start another war.
Frisk could have possibly started the same way. They probably hated their life, hated humanity, abused, lost someone, etc. Asriel makes a point, you don't just CLIMB up Mt. Ebbott for the hell of it. Frisk must have had the same problems, possibly the same upset feelings. But they are rewarded with the same things Klowbi is, albeit in a different order (mother, family, home, etc.) When this happens, Frisk's actions change drastically. They explore, meet everyone, spare everyone, and eventually rescue everyone. Their good deeds and determination set everyone free, and in reward they find a new life with a new family and home.
Klowbi is an example of allowing your vengeance and anger blind what you have right in front of you. Frisk is an example of releasing those negative feelings and embracing the good hopeful events happening.
It's the player that did all this, not Klowbi. Imagine if you wake up with the last thing you remember is being murdered despite refusing to fight and then a flower comes up and tells you that life is kill or be killed and then the person you're walking with starts mercilessly slaughtering everyone until you're driven insane! The player just wants to blame someone else for the destruction they caused so they blame it on the only character with no back story. Klowbi killed Sans but seeing someone kill all your friends will do that, they may have killed Flowey but refuses to at first so you force them to do it.

This thread is so confusing, I thought the given name was the fallen human, frisk if you do pacifist and chara when you do genocide? But some here say the given name human is the same as chara? I need to do some reading xd

In case you still need some clarification, there are two fallen humans. First, the human that the player names at the beginning of the game. Most fans call this human "Chara" because if the player enters that name, the game responds "The true name". So, this human was the first to fall, was found by Asriel, poisoned themself with buttercups, and then, after Asriel absorbed their soul, they wanted to use their power to kill the humans who attacked them.
Then, six more humans fall embodying the traits: Patience, Courage, Integrity, Perseverance, Kindness, and Justice. These humans have never been officially named.
Then fell the player character, who we only find out at the end is named "Frisk". The game leads players to believe that the player character is named at the beginning of the game, but the Pacifist ending provides a twist that shows us that this is not the case, that the character named at the beginning is a different human who is long gone, and the player character was named "Frisk".
The idea of Chara being the player character in the genocide run comes from the fact that there are a few times in the genocide run where the descriptions use the first person where they use the second person in non-genocide runs. For example, a mirror in non-genocide says "It's you.", but in genocide says "It's me, [Fallen Child Name]." This leads to two ideas: 1. The fallen child that the player names is the narrator of the game. 2. This fallen child takes greater control over Frisk in the genocide run.

Aye, it's really not a game that can be judged in the first couple minutes. I can't believe I wanted to wait for it to get discounted, like I usually do. I'm also happy that reviewers went through the lengths they did do describe the game without spoilers, else much of this game's appeal would have been gone.

I got into the fandom before even seeing a second of gameplay. But then I found out Cry played it, all the way through, and I did that fangirl call. Everyone knows how it feels. Cry, you, have played the Frisk ending. The ending where Frisk ended up being a precious babu and not killing a single soul. Not even a little snail. The Chara ending is where it's not Frisk, it's Chara, you kill everyone and get lots of LV. You kill everyone then Asgore then get the hell outta there! XD
Oh, and Cry! What you said in the end of this video touched me but scared me a bit. When you said you'll see us again, if not then we having a good day, and stuff. But really how you got the ending of Frisk living happily with everyone proves your purity, and how you spared Asgore AND Flowey after repeatedly trying to kill you. That shows how good you really are, because most people would rather kill Flowey and if they spare him they do it outta pity, but you, Klowbi, did it outta a good little red heart.

BTW, did you notice that the six kids souls have same theme as equipment you find through the game? Ballet, cooking, cawboy, etc. You can literally see how far they've got and where they died. And Chara got the furthest (died in castle prior to soul hunting)

there are some doubles in the items like with the cook and dancer tutu and shoes apron and frying pan
well, yeah, both items can belong to same person (kid could drop one by finding better equipment, or lose on the way), and some kids could have gotten to Asgore, leaving no items. I'd still call that a show of their final location.
Actually, there aren't doubles. Each of the human souls had both a 'weapon' and an article of clothing. Light blue has the toy knife and the ribbon, orange has the tough glove and the mandana, blue has the ballet shoes and the old tutu, purple has the notebook and the cloudy glasses, green has the frying pan and the apron, and yellow has the gun and the cowboy hat. If you go back and watch the fight with Photoshop Flowey, you'll see each of the weapons come up with the corresponding soul. Cry just didn't end up picking up/using everything.
Skylark Hibari what? Chara didn't commit suicide to give a soul to them. Chara killed himself so that Asriel can pass through the barrier to gather the six human souls themselves.
Frisk is such a simple character. When you look at other games the characters are all flashy and are well animated but Frisk is just the complete opposite. And his facial expression isn't much either lol. But he's such unique character that makes you just love him so much.

10 hours, over a period of three days this weekend, and I'm so glad I chose to spend my first Undertale experience with you, Cry.
I'd been waiting for some time to find a playthrough of this game-the right playthrough. One made with heart and soul and respect for this masterpiece for what it is. Some of my favorite TH-camrs have started and dropped this game, never to finish it under the public eye. Others have taken months and months just to make it halfway through. I thought I would never find my perfect playthrough until I came across your channel. It was worth the wait.
There are no words. Scarcely before have I felt such a sweet blend of sadness and joy at the conclusion of an adventure. I am so glad this game exists. To Toby and his team: thank you for making your artistic dream a reality. Through it, you have touched the lives of millions of people. This game will remain in my heart forever as the story of love and hope that it is.

Very surprised he was smart enough to figure the out you didn't have to kill, pretty much all other you tubers lost patience, I'm surprised I put of finding out about it thus long myself.
Problem with games like these is that a sequel will just make everyone upset because it won't live up to people's expectation.
A prequel that deals with the Monster Human war may work with the neutral end being the canon one of the Monsters being trapped underground, bad end both races destroyed, and good end having the humans realize the Monsters are not a threat and bring peace. Could have this in the perspective of a young monster child for the prequel. Maybe a young Asgore or Toriel even since they state Boss monsters only age out once they have children and if the child dies they stop aging once more... So it is possible they could have been around before they where forced underground.

Honestly a more meta one would be pretty great. Genocide route makes it VERY clear the " True " ending of the game is murky. Seeing this explored more could be.... interesting.... if not horrifying.

I watched this for a whole day when I was sick and I've been hooked on undertale. And I really don't think it needs a sequel. Even though I would love more of this amazing game, just let this masterpiece be a masterpiece. Not a series, just a game. A game that warmed are hearts with amazing music, characters and comedy. This game... Can't be ruined. I don't think they need to take the risk of ruining the whole game because of a sequel. The friendships you can create the enemy's you can slaughter. It leaves me heartbroken that a game this good is over and finished, but that's okay, we will just remember it as the game called "Undertale."
I'm serious about this. And if there is a sequel, I'll be exited and confused. (Although I don't think there is gonna be a sequel) maybe they'll hit a homer in and make a another amazing game! There's also the hard mode of the game that's coming out (may be totally wrong about that but whatever) so maybe there will be something different? You never know.
The point is that I don't want this to be ruined like some of the other games I like. It getting complicated confusing. I and some people just want it to be known as Undertale.

I love that Cry did this, it's so nice seeing how much he enjoyed the game. So many game players who do it for money are like "Meh, we'll just skip this last part" and here Cry is with almost a million views on him walking around just chatting with townsfolk just because he can.

Uuh.. We were never Klowbi. We were Frisk. The whole game. Nobody ever calls you Klowbi. Klowbi was the first human that fell. The only one who calls you Klowbi is Flowey, Cause he is Asriel and is projecting his best friend onto you. There is no going back in time and then to the present. There is no Deux Ex shit.
How you managed to be confused by this is truly a marvel. It's quite crystal clear.

Just keep in mind that cry went into this game blind. No outside help, no hints from viewers, no warnings or anything else. He just simply went with the flow and had fun honestly. He didn't hit not one character until he got to Asgore and while fighting him, he realized to his dismay that he had to hurt him physically. Then when it came his turn to throw a hit, he had no clue how the mechanics even worked. I love how cry just follows his heart and let things just ease on as he plays. I'm so glad that I watched him play this game first. This game is perfect for him.

But this is only half the story, the true ending in my opinion is the genocide/pacifist ending where Chara escapes to the surface. It may not be a happy ending but like Flowey said there is no happy ending.

The genocide is soulless. A speed run on that mode is 1h and 30min faster than a pacifist speed run, but it takes just as long with all of the hard bosses. You think you'll be sad, but the game doesn't give you enough time to cope with the emotions you feel. I suggest you watch it, because it shows that unlike other games that change a little bit with each play through, this game can change almost everything.
Also, the mood once you're in the genocide run is creepy.

Aside from all happening, 8th anniversary of Undertale had me come back and watch this.
It's been a long time, but I feel like I forgot what it's like to watch someone play a game and actually be invested into it. Like man, I would be a happy camper if I could find any youtubers who are HALF as into games the way Cry was into this game. It's what got me to love Undertale.

Undertale is my favorite game of all time, but it could definitely be topped. It'll take a wile, though. (maybe even a decade+) I'd be proud about it if/when something comes to top Undertale, and I think Toby would be, too.

If I could smile out loud, it probably happened while Cry was messing with the credits. This game is so wonderful, I love it to bits. I'll be satisfied if there is never a sequel, but man it would be great to have more Undertale to experience in the future.

This was such a GREAT game, really really glad I bought it and experienced it first hand. I would've missed out on this game entirely if I didn't watch the first part you posted.

It was an absolute blast watching you play through this Cry. I bought and finished this game myself after watching part 3, and I have to admit, I had a few moments of "Go here Cry! You missed this!" No. That's back seat gaming, stop it me.
The full genocide route is so, wow. Watched Cirno play through the whole thing and it just becomes a BRAND NEW experience. The new music, dialogue are all so good, it's feels a lot shorter too (not counting those boss battles you fight, those can take a while xD) and yet adds a whole new layer of depth to the story . I however, can't bring myself to do it, too sad after experiencing the 100% pacifist run first :(.
Even the soulless pacifist route (run pacifist AFTER finishing genocide) is different and ends at a scary note D;
Speaking of series, Life is Strange. I bought that back in March and I haven't even touched it once :x.

I know it's been a while sense you posted this finale, but thank you. Never before has a game or a play through gotten me to care as much as have with yours. I'm gonna be honest with you, I wasn't feeling so good before watching this. A lot in my life was changing and I felt like the universe wasn't giving me a break. I felt alone and that's how it should be, and for a moment I was OK with that idea. But then I watched your run through and it helped me. Your calm, shy, and comfortable personality got me watching and opened the door to something I'd never think could make me feel this way. I felt that I didn't have to be alone through this. I had friends and family that would stick with me. You reminded me that I could make it. That I could be happy. And while I know you didn't make Undertale, I'd still like to thank you for sharing it with me. Your awesome. Again thank you and keep doing what your doing.

I spent my whole undertale experience with cry and its been the best experience I've ever had. Thanks Cry for everything and keep being you please! I love seeing games like this and seeing people play games like this, giving them the option to fight and the option to show kindness and not fight, playing these games it shows you how they are it shows their heart, not once did cry fight not once did he think to harm them, he showed them kindness and compassion, he showed how sweet and kind he his by doing this, we got to see deep we got to see his heart, seeing him play and people play and not wanting to hurt anyone really makes me believe there is good in this world. Seeing a game like this that can show someone's heart, this is what I want to make this is why I create. Thank you cry for playing this game, thank you for being so kind hearted.
I remember when Undertale came out and seeing some TH-camrs playing it, but no one seemed to hook me on it with the usual over-the-top energy and so I dropped it after the intro; then there was Cry. He was my proper introduction to Undertale, through and through. Giving the pacing of the game time to breathe with his usual chill vibes and banter. I would've probably not given Undertale the time without Cry's playthrough
Although those times are gone now, the memories still remain.

Well this game made me feel like a little child again. I felt so giddy and happy when I watched him play this game. I thoroughly enjoyed the game even though I haven't played it myself. I am happy you make videos of games because I wish I could play them but I am happier and content with just watching others play. Gives me more joy.
