David Anthony: Very correct. I work for United and I don't like running these machines out because of idiots like this. I promise you United could care less, they are here for the BUCK!
These things get into so super weird conundrums due to their nature, they’re very able to contort and shimmy themselves into some tight situations that are sometimes hard to predict or avoid. Doesn’t make it not annoying, but there it is
Fish-Squatch Angling the bucket is too close to the ground, he would still hit the ground even with the harness. But yes, he should be wearing a harness anyway
Miriam Mejia no the harness is to prevent you from hitting the ground! Of course you are going to go flying when u drop off a 2 foot ledge like that . He’s a moron that has no clue how to operate that machine
Ahhh...the temptation of being the cameraman to just stay quiet when you could have warned the subject of impending doom. "He'll be FIIIINE," You say to yourself. Pfft.
Lol whenever I've been trained to operate any machine, the training courses always include lessons on the basic physics of what's going on when you use them. That way the operator hopefully has some foresight as to what will happen when you go over a ledge like this 😂
I've had some wild experiences in much bigger versions of this piece of equipment myself. but man you are obviously going to get hurt doing that. Some of them drive quite fast when the boom is at just the right angle. If you take a turn too hard you can throw yourself out that way too. I have never been thrown out of one but I've definitely had a few sweaty experiences learning to drive one on very uneven Terrain.
No harness. Good job. IF you ever have to do this. (It’s not safe at all) but then your book 90* with your drop. You will experience a small side drop, instead of a long stroke front to back drop. Helps a lot. But this is not recommended.
The scary part is that you don't know how much you will be launched, so you don't know whether to let go and just land on your feet or hold on for dear life because if not you are getting catapulted
Risk management was not used that day that's for sure...Lol...heavy machine is no fun and games. but after hearing the camera man laugh, I couldn't help it by laughing to. :D
It's not that it's an "oh look at the dummy moment" in fact it's not a matter of inexperience either The operator didn't foresee the reality of what he was doing against physics. Your car has suspension, 4x4 have rear suspension, this has no permutations of that arrangement. It is designed to operate on an even plane, a slope at best What surprises me is that the guy filming probably had a decent idea of what was going to happen, but let the man touch fire and risk a near miss anyway We don't know what kind of arrangement brought them here, but he would have had to really blow them off for there to be not even a suggestion of a makeshift ramp or something. As for what quite literally drove him into that situation, there's no telling either
@ramblincapuchin9075 Except for the 4x4 only having rear suspension part, I agree with most everything else you said and thought a lot of the same things while watching what was going on. That doesn't change the fact that neither the operator, or the guy filming were qualified to be operating that piece of equipment and I'm not surprised about what happened.
I saw a man fly out of a boom lift once. He had gotten the front wheels, (under the platform), onto the concrete slab, and a forklift lifted the rear wheels up sightly above level. When the boom lift went forward it slipped off of the forks and slammed down. The worker flipped through the air like a flapjack and landed flat on the concrete. (No harness) He got back up on his own, but he was no doubt bruised up. Very lucky not to be hurt worse.
I refused to run one of those once because I had no training on that model and the guy they got to do it killed himself and the guy he was taking up high plus destroyed the lift. My feet have never left the ground since then
I was working indoors on a jobsite and siders were just outside the 2nd floor window on a cherry picker. Dunno how or why, but without warning the entire wheel fell off the machine and it tipped. I could see the bucket with the dude in it as it whipped back and forth getting tossed like a ragdoll. He stayed in the bucket though. But the machine was so tipped it refused to move the bucket so the guy could lower himself down. Had to bring a second cherry picker over to get the guy safely down to the ground. But I saw the wheel after the fact, it came right off, hub and all. Yikes!
One beeper ok, but the multiple beepers going off were an indication that you are about to get fucked!!! Never ignore the beeps man. Never ignore the beeps
Yep, keep the basket over the wheels that are dropping. He was ok for the first two, but should have swung the basket around to the barge side to drop the rear wheels.
Oh trust me, I worked with them befor and it’s absolutely pretty much expected as is for rental cars in a way. We had guys come rent equipment they already own for sketchy jobs that could maybe cause damage but don’t want too risk there equipment and rent stuff too do those things and get the good insurance when renting also for those deal . Happens a lot more then people think lol
1 Why wasn't the guy wearing a harness? I hope this man is alright. 2 He should have worn a harness and 3 he should have put some ramps under the machine. If the lift over turned, he would be thrown out, possibly crushed and definitely severely injured excluding the other people who could have been hurt.
My lift has a pendulum hanging in the center of a small circle and if the base is on too great of a slope it makes contact and shuts down…this operator should never be allowed to even get near another one without training
Trying hard not to laugh til you ask him if he is alright😂….let me watch that again
I’m sure united rentals loves seeing their equipment treated that way. Lol what a great operator!
David Anthony: Very correct. I work for United and I don't like running these machines out because of idiots like this. I promise you United could care less, they are here for the BUCK!

Screw united rentals.
As long as they can still rent it when the truck brings it back, that's all that matters.
These things get into so super weird conundrums due to their nature, they’re very able to contort and shimmy themselves into some tight situations that are sometimes hard to predict or avoid. Doesn’t make it not annoying, but there it is
I think the camera guy 100 percent knew what was gonna happen, and that's why started recording
$5,000 fine for even being in bucket WITHOUT A SAFTEY HARNESS
Believe it or not but its not in the regulations... its strongly advise to wear a harness though
Incase you haven't realised there is literally a fine for everything that is called tyranny and theft.
Cant recall ever wearing a safety harness working near water. Sounds like a good way to drown.
@@keyboardpatriotall regulations and taxation are theft, unless you are a reasonable person

1:02 The Mutley laugh!
Oh yeah. HAHAHAHAHAH What a way to bring that memory back.
4x4? Challenge accepted! Don't worry, it's a rental!
Where's the harness, bud? They put the anchor points in there for a reason..... THIS REASON!
Fish-Squatch Angling the bucket is too close to the ground, he would still hit the ground even with the harness. But yes, he should be wearing a harness anyway
DefaultSettings tell that to the refinery that I'm working at right now have to tie off at 4 foot
DefaultSettings the harness isn't meant to keep him from hitting the ground. It's to prevent him from flying 30ft into the air
Miriam Mejia no the harness is to prevent you from hitting the ground! Of course you are going to go flying when u drop off a 2 foot ledge like that . He’s a moron that has no clue how to operate that machine
Steve B No, the harness is to stop you going flying. You've clearly never done your training as they tell you this.
That's a great way to fuck up a very expensive machine, and at the same time hurt yourself.
OSHA approved!
I love that guy laughing. Hahah im dying
Muttley laughing
Muttley you like asmr nigga?

EpilepsyWarning hi
It's only funny cuz he's alright 😂😂.
Ahhh...the temptation of being the cameraman to just stay quiet when you could have warned the subject of impending doom.
"He'll be FIIIINE,"
You say to yourself.
Pfft.
Sometimes, it's more about idiots not wanting to be told they're wrong and needing to learn the hard way.
Imagine operating a man lift that casually not even understanding what’s about to happen when you drive it off a ledge 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol whenever I've been trained to operate any machine, the training courses always include lessons on the basic physics of what's going on when you use them. That way the operator hopefully has some foresight as to what will happen when you go over a ledge like this 😂
Mutley finds it so funny but still managed to ask if he was ok 😂
I've had some wild experiences in much bigger versions of this piece of equipment myself. but man you are obviously going to get hurt doing that. United Catapults
Good example of leverage.
great shots of the ground
That laugh at the end sounded like mutley out of the wacky races 🤣
The wheezy laughter at the end is the funny part !
Watch Tony stands on an egg for the best wheezy laughter
looks like he hit his head pretty bad on the control panel lol 0:50
yeah, he definetly hurt himself, but probably didnt need to go to the hospital
@@justarandomguy3969probably didn't need to for such a minor concussion

I've had worse accidents with my hammer. Keep it moving.
Dont be gentle, its a Rental!
At full extension would make him the first man on Mars.
It looks like a case of natural selection.
I would never come down that far inside the boom, use your brains and control the boom from the bottom.
uh, there designed so you can control from the top, so why not there
Marco Teixeira pretty sure you cant drive the lift from the bottom, you can only control the boom
DefaultSettings you're right you can't drive from the bottom controls only from the basket
Should of had a harness and lanyard on and had a ramp to drive down.
Marco Teixeira or use ramps to come down incline.should not have been operating boom if not licensed or experienced
A little movement on that end is a lot of movement on the other.
Not a cherry picker son🤣🤣🤣
It's a man lift or a personnel man basket lift.
The scary part is that you don't know how much you will be launched, so you don't know whether to let go and just land on your feet or hold on for dear life because if not you are getting catapulted
You are supposed to have a safety line attached to the bars on the operating system to prevent human catapult launch
Risk management was not used that day that's for sure...Lol...heavy machine is no fun and games. but after hearing the camera man laugh, I couldn't help it by laughing to. :D
Shubby Nyall got a minute?
It's rented, of course he doesn't know how to operate it safely. Why's anyone surprised?

What did you think was going to happen? You are on the arm of a catapult..
Gutted ! I was hoping it was going to trebuchet him into the pond!

Where was his safety harness. And that is not a cherry picker.
Lee Mullen it is a cherrypicker mate
Give me a handle long enough and a fulcrum in which to move it and i shall move the world
The laugh was the best part
I refused to run one of those once because I had no training on that model and the guy they got to do it killed himself and the guy he was taking up high plus destroyed the lift. My feet have never left the ground since then
There is hours of fun to be had with a Genie lift,,, and as for Sky Jack scissor lifts, well, don't get me started,,, 😂😉😜
He should have used an auxiliary control unit, (Unless it got stolen like most of the units on my job site.) or at least had a harness on.
Physics is still undefeated
I was working indoors on a jobsite and siders were just outside the 2nd floor window on a cherry picker. Dunno how or why, but without warning the entire wheel fell off the machine and it tipped. Someone didn’t pay attention in physics

If you forget to rotate your camera to skinny portrait mode, at least be sure to clearly record video of the ground if anything important happens.
Yep, keep the basket over the wheels that are dropping. He was ok for the first two, but should have swung the basket around to the barge side to drop the rear wheels.
dan is that you
Plot twist: that was the plan.
Camera work by “Mutley”. Cherry Picker driven by “Dick Dastardly”
The guys body went like something out of gmod
How was the leveler safety off?
Shouldn't be able to lift the basket on an uneven surface. It goes into limp mode.
Not someone who did a course
Oh trust me, I worked with them befor and it’s absolutely pretty much expected as is for rental cars in a way. We had guys come rent equipment they already own for sketchy jobs that could maybe cause damage but don’t want too risk there equipment and rent stuff too do those things and get the good insurance when renting also for those deal . I almost did this once except I was in a harness and locked in
1 Why wasn't the guy wearing a harness? I hope this man is alright. 2 He should have worn a harness and 3 he should have put some ramps under the machine. If the lift over turned, he would be thrown out, possibly crushed and definitely severely injured excluding the other people who could have been hurt.
Why are they not wearing a harness that you would clip on the cradle
My lift has a pendulum hanging in the center of a small circle and if the base is on too great of a slope it makes contact and shuts down…this operator should never be allowed to even get near another one without training
You are move likely to need a harness traversing at ground level than you would extended in the air!😂
Him learned of the hard way
Nice colleagues...laughing so hard at the intern
“Pffft we don’t need a ramp”
This isn't a cherry picker. It's a man lift or a articulating boom lift.
Otherwise known as a Cherry picker 🙄
teach him the laws of physics someone lmao
Love that laugh!!😂
I'm sure he regretted it and that mini heart attack would've left him in a state of PTSD afterwards 😭😆
Mumbly is that you? lmao
Who didn’t see that coming?
No Safety Harness. Fail.😂
You alright but not realy arssed haha love it when ye boss thinks he knows it all ha
a man was killed doing this in west australia 20 years ago its not a joke
eVER TAKE IT OFF ANY SWEET JUMPS?
😂not a cherry picker, it's an articulating boom lift.
No visible PPE either.
I can tell dude wanted to just laugh luke hell..lmao
I used to know a guy that would do stupid shit like this all the time, hes still alive somehow
Don’t these have a remote control and cable?
What was he thinking was going to happen. I got down tiny bumps and I get lifted a little lmao
Did you mean to do that??
“Yeah….” 😐
This is why rental equipment is junk 😂
Cherry flicker more like.
No harness no problem
Quick stand back up they won’t notice
No harness/fall protection he would be fired on the spot
Those things are extremely dangerous.
No one important to you right
Smart. Not much understanding of a fulcrum point and no harness.
Operating it better than the camera man...
Reminds me of a classic MythBusters episode called "Boom Lift Catapult".😆
Thats why you have to harness up
in a cherry picker. R
