Grimlock has been my first run-in with the Dinobot mould and I kinda love it. Gorgeous head sculpt, it's the reason I bought him over Dinobot in the first place. Makes me wish there was a run of Dinobot with the toy style head, honestly.
I like to think the way Mirage's vechicle mode logo not supposed to being split due to transformation is just a clever way of how many bots think he's a decepticon when he really isn't
I'd say Velocitron Crasher is the best of the new Mirage mold because the black draws away from the gapping in-between the legs and the accessories just look more clean.
Wow this set looks better than I was expecting. I was mainly curious about what changes they made to Mirage. I'm actually looking forward to my set arriving now.
This set is why I hate exclusives, in Canada. I missed the one hour window months ago and now all it ever says is "We're not sure when this will ever be back in stock." Grimlocks got real pretty green eyes.
I barely even saw this thing, now I want it, and I have to order it from Hasbropulse because they don’t deliver out of any Anglo country that doesn’t start with “United”. Maaaaaan :(
I was expecting to be meh about both, but I impulse preordered it (and the other set) when a friend said he wanted the G1 bots and I got to keep the beasts, but man...while I do much prefer Siege Mirage because my grandma gifted it to me and I'm very sentimental, I gotta admit this Mirage looks great...but the hand feel is kinda wonky, ours was stupid tight on most joints and the Autobot symbol on the legs was misaligned. But that Grimlock...ooooh that Grimlock...photos didn't make it justice, in hand it is spectacular, I got lucky and got one with great tolerances on everything except for the very tight thigh swivels, easily the toy I played with the most in 2021...to the point he may have been my favourite of the entire year, it just clicked with me, I prefer it to Dinobot and I've loved Dinobot for most of my existence.
While I am glad you're overall happy with both Mirage and Grimlock, I do have an interest in seeing what you think about Kingdom Tracks. In the wider scene, he's not doing so hot considering his locking tabs or lack there of. I'd love to see you tackle him too. Either in a understanding diagnosis way or a "rip it to shreds" kind of way
Tracks was one of my most wanted figures. I've put some blu tack behind his shins in bot mode to hold his side leg panels. It's a shame he isn't perfect but when he is in a group of autobots he definitely has a great shelf presence. I'm definitely waiting to see the toyhax stickers
Honestly I think he's just okay. Road rage too, whom I got yesterday. No review planned this year sadly, but eh: they're alright, and definitely overhated. Had they come out in earthrise people would've loved them
@@DrLockdown I'd love a review of either of them but I can't force you to do anything. At least now I know you don't fully hate them. So I at least have some positive reception for them from there
There's a 5mm port on the back of Mirage's arms. It's not on the "shoulder," but it gives off a look that the launcher is resting behind his shoulder, and that works for me.
Honestly I'm fine with the unpainted white, especially the eyes being unpainted as that always irked me when looking at Dinobot via photos and videos when in Dino mode. I just wanted a nice dinobot with a fairly cohesive color scheme in dino mode and that's what I got with Grimlock, he just works for me and I'm happy I have him and can experience this mold for the first time
I agree with you 100 percent. Beast Wars Grimlock is actually the only reason I might buy this battle across time pack but Mirage is not a bad addition as well. It is indeed better than the other battle across time pack with a retool Sideswipe and Maximal Skywarp who is just a lazy repaint of Airazor.
