  • Camino Primitivo - Borres to Berducedo via Hospitales
     Distance : 24.88 km / 15.46 ml
    The Hospitales route as it appears more authentic and has less tarmac to cover. I was blessed with good weather today from Borres to Berducedo. I didn’t realize how powerful this stage would be for me, in every way, physically, psychologically, and spiritually, for my own reasons.

      I’m savoring every moment while I’m still on it. I still don’t understand how other can just glance and take off. There are so many beautiful thing that captured my attention and I literally had to stop to absorb it. For me the Camino is being in the moment, not like every day I get to experience this awesome journey. Everyone is different, but as for me “I am slow” and I love it. LOL. Thanks for watching Christine.

      True so true Francisco. The Camino do teaches us so many lessons. Patience and determination are a must to keep pushing forward. I enjoyed everyday while on the Camino. “Limping all the way to Santiago.” Thanks for watching. Buen Camino!

    you are a brave man and in spite of fatigue and stony path, i remember paths like this from chammonix in france coming down from lake blanc and of the brevent. and still you are happy. and what i like the most apart from your cheerful ways is that for the first time in my watching the hospitaler route and i have watched many, i saw it in detail, how far it is, how much it goes uphill and how rocky the path downhill is and how far the whole hike. you have really worked hard. buen camino and love from germany

      Awesome thanks for such kind words. I hope future peregrino can watch and have an idea of what the challenge will be like if they were to do the Hospitales. Fatigue definitely was there, no choice but to keep on pushing forward. A day well spent! Thanks Marianne.

      Casa de Aldea Araceli (in Berducedo). 50 euro a night. Restaurant and bar down on first floor. For a long day hike I think it's worth it to splurge yourself. I'm excited to hear about your upcoming adventure. Hope the weather is in your favor. Buen Camino.

      Anything is possible. Slow and steady is our model. I did the Camino Frances in 2022 and got to say Camino Primitivo is challenging. The town are more spread apart and forces you to complete the section with only some to none support vs. Camino Frances where there are abundant. Camino Primitivo start in Oviedo and end in Santiago. Will take 12-14 days to complete. From Oviedo to Lugo is beautiful, but trail can be challenging. From Lugo to Santiago is mostly road walking. Camino Primitivo merge into Camino Frances in Melide. From Melide and onward is where it gets overcrowded and busy. Congrats on your health and seeking more Camino. You keep inspiring. Buen Camino!

    So, the hospitales route is a stage of the primitivo?

    • @Gettinglostonthetrail
      @Gettinglostonthetrail  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On day 5, you have a choice. Hospitales route or the other route. Hospitales takes you through the mountain with no services available. That means carry double the water and food supplies. Only do it with great weather or when not foggy. Wonderful trail/hike. Beautiful weather that day. Challenging but oh so worth it.

    How far is the peak of Hispitales route to nearby town Berducedo?

    • @Gettinglostonthetrail
      @Gettinglostonthetrail  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The total mileage is 27.4, but if you start back in Campiello, it is about 5.4 kilometers more, at a total of 32.8. The highest point is over 1200 meters (about 3900 feet) at about 11.4 kilometers from Campiello. (32.8 - 11.4 = 21.4 km left to Berducedo. A very long and difficult day! This is why many pilgrims have an overnight stop in Pola de Allande.

      This trekking pole have a handle on top which I preferred. Just like a cane. I know with the hiking poles you slip your hand under the loop and hold it. I hiked slow and steady so this style of poles holding works for me. Thanks for watching Estella.
