I’m very happy that you often show wether or not the biggest GPU’s like the Strix can fit. This is often an overlooked visual that other TH-camrs don’t do. in my opinion, it’s very important because that way people will be able to see what the biggest components are that you can fit in a certain small form factor. Because sometimes only knowing the max length of a GPU is not enough to know whether or not, it can actually fit, as it can sometimes be a little bit tricky to get the GPU in or sometimes the GPU will not fit at all because of the thickness or the way it’s built even though the GPU length is within the limits of the case Furthermore, I think it’s important so people have a better assurance that their smaller GPU’s will also fit the case
I feel like Cooler Master took all the feedback and said "Nah, fam. We good". People asked for better compatibility for AIO's (being able to mount it at the top and not only on the side) and now AIOs are basically the only option for optimal CPU cooling . People asked for USB-C and now you gotta manage an extra thick cable in the same space. People LOVED that you could do horizontal GPU in a SFF case and now vertical is your only option AND because of this you lose a SSD spot at the front which limits the storage capacity of the case immensely. The uselessness of the TG panel comment is spot on because NO ONE will want to choke their GPU with it. I know the outake overall is that the case is good and all but as someone who didn't buy the V1 (which has spiked in price now) waiting for the V2, I'm very disappointed.
"because of this you lose a SSD spot at the front which limits the storage capacity of the case immensely." Not sure why this is a complaint in 2024. Do people still use more than one SATA SSD now? NVME prices have come down immensely, and almost all motherboards come with at least one NVME slot nowadays, so IMO that justifies switching over to only NVME storage for most people. I'm sure there are some extreme niche or extreme budget cases where you'd want a SATA SSD or even a hard drive, but I think most people can afford NVME. There are multiple tiers of specs and pricing for them.
Yeah, I feel this not really an 'improvement' over the original NR200P...especially if you're using air-coolers for the CPU. It's amazing in 2024 that CM would consider less part-compatibility to be 'better'.
@@kasper_429 The complaint has absolutely nothing to do with NVME prices or availability. A lot of people (not only "extreme niche cases") use the NVME available as their OS drive but use SATA SSDs or even HDDs to store files, media and other stuff. V1 had support for TWO SSDs at the front and V2 only has support for one; it's that simple.
I think most people would take an additional ~3cm space for their GPU over an additional SSD mounting location. There’s already so many places in this case where you can DIY a way of mounting an SSD anyway
Great review! I have the Cooler Master NR200P MAX with an AMD 7700 and Nvidia 3090ti. I put two 120mm by 15mm fans on the bottom firing up. Runs great!
Although I also thought about that, you'd also have to change the internal power cable location. It's a shame they basically just did a barebones NR200P Max with some "Quality of Life" improvements.
Thanks for the video, great detail, exactly why I subscribed to this channel. I have both the Max and the original NR200P, the latter is running my main PC as it just was the best of the bunch. As other comments have pointed out, forcing AIOs is so bad - why not make the backpanel modular, like in the original NR200P, to allow for horizontal AND vertical GPU mounting. Vertical GPU mounting without riser in an SFF case WAS one of the main features of this case lineup. The only thing holding the original NR200P back was the inner front panel cutouts being to small. I had to deshroud my 4090 to get it in there. They made things worse by introducing too many changes. They only needed to do to things: * Remove the inner front panel entirely and replace it with two modular add-ins for people who want to mount harddrives there - so that people can use only one for vertical GPU mounts and two for horizontal. * Make the AIO top mountable, for 280 maybe slightly increase the height of the case, but do NOT sacrifice the whole case concept for that AIO (lowering the board mount, screwing horizontal mounts, screwing air cooling folks, etc.) They should have done more research in their user base. Get the original NR200P and a dremel is what I would recommend, then you can mount your gpu however you want. And if you still want top AIO, people have done that two with a slim rad and slim fans - without any height or mainboard mount adjustments. Honestly, their customers have through mods shown them how to make the V2 - the research was already done.
This is true. I just found out about the nr200p max 2 months ago and decided to go with it as my first sff build against the v1 because I just wanted the AIO and PSU all-in-one but later kind of regret it because I learned how versatile the v1 was (different GPU mounts and Air-cooled/water-cooled) that was really cool. I get my wrong I really love my Max but this v2 too doesn't seem like an upgrade from the v1 at all.
Cooler master did good? Lol this is a step back in basically every way from the V1 other than the type C port. The V1 was very popular for one specific reason. Versatility, and the V2 doesn't have that.
This is the case I wish I could buy few year ago, at least the NR200P MAX was out. The only advice I would give for this case is don't forget to put fans at the bottom.
(smart people) drill holes into the plexiglass panel and enjoy the extra dust lol. Great video, thank you very much! Was having a hard time finding something to fit my PNY RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB
Your video convinced me to make this my first itx case. I was able to squeeze in a TUF 7900 XTX. Some tips, loosen the radiator screws when assembling the top, ribbon cables are a pita, I switched to the asus Loki and it worked out better routing the gpu cable through the front (this gave me room for the 280 aio tubes), lastly I made said Asus SFX-L fit on the SFX mounting point to clear the 280 aio. Tnx and cheers!
Always the amazing tunes, big compliments! The NR200PV2 is nice too, I guess. Great case, the NR200P is a modern classic and the Max was solid, this is great if you want the Max but want to use your own parts? I think getting an old NR200P is much better value because it's so much cheaper and I'm actually not that big a fan of AIO's in small cases. (For reference my current pc is in an air cooled DAN A4 H20)
I'm loving my NR200P Max. With a Ventus 2X RTX 4070Ti Super. I have no issue using a tempered glass cover. Probably I'm using this desktop solely for creator. Revit, D5 Render and Premier. The new NR200P casing is tempting to give my old Max new look. Great review.
Solid follow up. There was a time when the NR200 and the TU150 were basically the best cases for ITX on the market. Luckily we have more chassis now. IMO the NR200 was better, BUT if the TU150 fit all your parts and was good enough thermals for your build, nothing really beats the build quality of a Lian Li chassis. The biggest issue with the TU was cooling and restrictions on parts sizes. The NR200 on release was more budget friendly, "good enough" build quality, AND amazing parts compatibility.
They finally made room for bottom fans, and finally put USB-C on the front! I just wish the USB-C port was in a different spot, but I know they did that for symmetry, lol.
I don't really know who this is for since the max already exists. I personally would have asked for either space for a liquid cooler on top or a slightly wider NR200 so that I could use the TG panel with a wider variety of air coolers.
I don't like riser cables, they are just another component you have to buy (PCie 5.0 riser will be very expensive when they come out) and can cause errors. That is why I like the normal NR200P. My NR200P has the optimal airflow, side intake with AIO for CPU VRAM and M.2 cooling and a Nvidia Founders with flowthrough that gets exhausted to the top and back... I also have 3 SSDs in the front...the third is just dangling in there. :D
Great music mix for the build, Miss the wifes voice for a sponsor and i always enjoy seeing bindi modeling with the final build at the end.. lol.. thanks for the video.
16:25 I think we all done that a few times. Made me laugh as well. lol I bought this case a few days ago off amazon. Hope to do a similar build in it. thanks!
I built in the NR200P and I think I still prefer that one for having the horizontal GPU option. I also managed to fit a 280 AIO by using the side mount. Temps were good. Only reason I went back to ATX is the need to use a PCI capture card. I would still use this though if I can’t get a hold of the first one.
No, my next SFF case is sitting behind me on the other desk and waiting for the final decision on how to position the PSU. Its half the volume (10L), and originally not built for liquid cooling. Also weights half of the NR200 v2. Sandwich-layout from the very beginning, and also all in white.
They killed the air cooling. I don't get it why they disbanded the flexibility. Ofc u can put an 67mm air cooler. But then u have the backplate of the gpu facing toward the radiator of the air cooler. Such a shame. Tried some aio builds. Got back to air cooling. I will never get an aio again. Maybe a custom loop. But I think aios are simply throw-away products with a timer.
Damn that last part makes me want to pick up a v1 for the future when my max aio dies i'll switch to air-cooling. I don't want to contribute to such a concept thats gonna create more trash. I just built my first SFF and AIO PC 2 months ago.
I think the top panel is also different, the NR200P Max has the original mounts for the 2x120mm fans of the Original NR200P where as the new V2 is completly open and only uses the mounts of the frame.
So the NR200P Max Lite. Got it. I do want to see the TG thermals though. That's a main point for vertical mount IMO. With the bottom 120s maybe it's not that bad? Also wondering if exhaust/intake on the bottom fans would change thermals significantly or not.
15:42 LOL they way you said that On the case, I don't know any other itx cases that can fit that big of a gpu. I think this is a good case. I know people wsnted more air cooler options, i hope they do add that but air cooling seems limited to me if you want big GPU like a rog 4090
Nick! Since you are so close with Cooler Master team, Could you help them design the Air Cool version? The max support Height should be around 160mm would nice. Hope you read my comment mate!
I have the V1, gpu is plugged straight into mobo, (so it’s horizontal,) and big air cooler above the gpu, in front of mobo. Very nice case, solid, recommended The riser cable supplied was not compatible with my gpu, and I didn’t want to fork out £80 for a riser cable, as it wasn’t required.
AMD RX 6750xt 12gb, and phantom gaming mobo, no need for water cooling for this, just keep the supplied fans on top, my sim racing pc. Cooler master sfx top of the range psu
The lack of a USB Type C on the front panel is what has my original NR200 still sitting in its box, unopened since December. It may see eBay very soon!
I’ve work on the case. One of the major problem was that the not all 240mm aio fit the case bc of the tube hitting the psu. Specially the lian li Galahad ii. Wish they gave a little more inch of space then it would’ve been good or alright atleast 👍
Isn't it the same layout as NR200P Max? I though i heard you say you can fit 2 25 mm fans at the bottom . I'm pretty sure you coudlnt in the MAX variant
Why doesn't this case have an option for a *sandwich mounting solution?* As in a center spine in the middle with the motherboard on one side with the power supply, and on the flip side the GPU with a flat radiator pump combo, the FE 3000 or 4000 water cooled leaves you with a lot of space after it. And if you modify the spine & mount the sandwich center spine a little higher you would be able to have dual 360 radiators with fans. And then you would want tempered glass on both sides. Do they offer tempered glass for both sides? *Replacement back I/O case panel & adding a center spine isn't hard, take mins if you had a CnC, or knock it out old school with a router table by hand... & cut a bunch of threads for new screws.* You'll have zero room to hide any extra wiring so this is best done by you by just shorting all of the cables you need that the power supply comes with, just do one wire at a time & make them perfect. ...measure twice, cut, strip, crimp, next. ..all of your cables will be only a few inches long. While you're add it, learn how to bend glass tubing. Just know EKWB fittings are 12.7mm OD before buying any glass tubing. ...and when I say learn, look up how they make neon signs with the use of your lungs to add pressure to the glass tubes so they do not fold in on you. ...this technique can also be used on plastic tubing and once you learn it makes complicated multi bend lines so much easier. btw if you look around you can find glass tubing cheaper than plastic, AND there is NOTHING that looks better than glass.
Geer Seeker, will you do less known case brands? I've been eyeing this case called Tecware VX90M, can't build a pc yet with my situation but atleast I can fantasize while you build and show case it. Much love! ❤
I built in this just over the last few days and it was eh. Bought a large number of parts trying to figure out what I wanted to go with, and this one was severely limiting. Couldn't use the Arctic Liquid Freezer III 280 (too thick) or DeepCool LT520 because of the pump height, so ended up going with an EK Nucleus 240, but the tubing for that is short, so you can't route it under the PSU shroud so it just sits against the PSU and GPU, and with an SFX-L PSU, it's basically unable to use any AIO other than the Cooler Master one. The USB and USB-C cables are extremely thick and do not bend well, the front panel connector was extremely short, so routing it was not possible, it just had to be pulled straight to the pins on the board as a result, the TG panel is useless because yes, let me lose basically all my cooling intake, vertical only GPU puts the GPU right against the case side, venting the hot air straight into the case and CPU radiator. Added 2 exhaust fans to the bottom for negative pressure and to try and pull some of the hot GPU air out of the bottom, but temps for both still just hovered right in the 70-80 range. Overall...I was able to complete a build, but it was extremely disappointing. I ended up with a Lian Li A4-H2O, which also resulted in lower temps (CPU sits around 60, GPU at 70 under gaming load), smaller footprint, and fit all the parts I had. This case just seems like "we had a lot of stock left, so made a new I/O panel for the top and labeled it V2!" and shipped the same case with a new USB-C port. It was a major disappointment.
I run an SFF build in my bedroom using the A4 H2O case and it’s been great and really have no reason to change anything. NGL though, I kinda wanna get this case and swap everything over to it. Decisions decisions.
@@chibiribiri none really. Just to do it. No real reason other than that. I have multiple PCs across my house. I have plenty of room in my tv stand in the bedroom for something bigger so thinking why not.
Also gotta say. As a kiwi this is about the only hardware review channel I bother watching anymore. Fun and real content that's close to home and accurate. Keep it up.
I have to disagree about cm not including the TG panel. I love seeing my build especially when I do a custom loop with a GPU water block. So yeah I'd rather have the TG.
Finished transferring my parts to my X-Gamerx P60, almost brought a NR200 but needed modding for mATX, just couldn't find what I wanted then my search engine posted the P60 on screen, had to get it on Aliexpress. TH-cam video never happen, the transfer didn't go smoothly, operator error, but in the end everything fine. Cable management was a pain, run the RBG to the wrong header and the 24pin and GPU cables have too much length on them, so I try making some custom cables. If I had a long GPU it don't think it would fit if the x16 was at the top, because of PSU cables.
6950 XT saw no changes in temps with the glass side panel. I also use two intake fans at the bottom of the case so the added air pressure with the glass panel lowered my motherboard temps. It's fine if you have a 3 slot card like mine or many others as there's plenty of a gap for air to enter the gpu
All people wanted was just add better top mounting radiator solutions and keep same versatility with choice of horiz. or vertic. GPU. They improved some and removed some. Now we got no choice !
I wish u did gpu test with tg..4090 might be a huge card but for me i prefer to have a mid tier gpu in this case..i wonder how the temp will be especially with those dual 120 fans on bottom..
which direction is better to set the air flow? suck it in from the top through the AIO and blow it out from the bottom? Can it be the other way around, suck it in through the dock and blow it out through Aio?
It didnt understand the part about the bottom fans in the video. Are you saying you can use two 25mm fans? or only one slim fan under the riser cable and one 25mm beside it?
Would you be willing to test this config? Going from top to bottom: Fans (intake), radiator, GPU, fans (exhaust, but maybe try intake too) The GPU can pretty much always pull fresh air regardless of the config, but in the config that you have, the CPU ends up using the hot air from the GPU. I have a 7950X3D and I dont think this case would accommodate it very well seeing the results with 7700X
I actually skipped over this case specifically because they removed all the interesting color options from the NR200. Ended up going with a Fractal Ridge instead.
I'm all for water cooling and even have a rigid tube custom loop in the old nr200p. At the same time, wtf was cooler master thinking with this v2? The large majority by far have air-cooled setups in the nr200. Them taking away proper air cooler compability is such a mistake. It's only better than the max since the user isn't stuck with their poor quality aio and psu. Lots of people had issues with them, so I guess this is an upgrade in that regard.

Finally! Thank you!
Came for the case review, stayed for the Bindi footage.
Same 😅
So the NR200P Max Lite. Got it.
I do want to see the TG thermals though. That's a main point for vertical mount IMO. With the bottom 120s maybe it's not that bad? Also wondering if exhaust/intake on the bottom fans would change thermals significantly or not.
15:42 LOL they way you said that
On the case, I don't know any other itx cases that can fit that big of a gpu. I think this is a good case. I know people wsnted more air cooler options, i hope they do add that but air cooling seems limited to me if you want big GPU like a rog 4090
Great review
Very nice case, solid, recommended
The riser cable supplied was not compatible with my gpu, and I didn’t want to fork out £80 for a riser cable, as it wasn’t required.
AMD RX 6750xt 12gb, and phantom gaming mobo, no need for water cooling for this, just keep the supplied fans on top, my sim racing pc. Cooler master sfx top of the range psu
Very nice video ! I have a question, have you tried with a 280 radiator on top of it ?
Thanks you !
Much love! ❤
Would be cool if you can do total transplant into the new case and do the benchmarking to see any delta
I now want to change my nr200p for this one😆
Great Video.
Of course the GPU knob would be black... Wonder if the GPU knobs will be color matched with other case color variants.
So basically what you’re saying is I need to buy a V2 and replace the rear panel with the panel from my V1 and call it a day!
I run an SFF build in my bedroom using the A4 H2O case and it’s been great and really have no reason to change anything. NGL though, I kinda wanna get this case and swap everything over to it. Decisions decisions.
Y would u go for bigger? What would be the benefit?
@@chibiribiri none really. Just to do it. No real reason other than that. I have multiple PCs across my house. I have plenty of room in my tv stand in the bedroom for something bigger so thinking why not.
Ever put together a pcpartpicker list for this? Trying to decide if I can fit standard 120mm fans with an Sfx-l and 280mm AIO
Thanks!
No horizontal GPU sent me looking for a V1 instead. Cooler Master dropped the ball.
Also gotta say. As a kiwi this is about the only hardware review channel I bother watching anymore. Fun and real content that's close to home and accurate. Keep it up.
I’m just curious about to fit MSI AI1300p there. 😎
I have to disagree about cm not including the TG panel. I love seeing my build especially when I do a custom loop with a GPU water block. So yeah I'd rather have the TG.
Hey, would the radiator fans still be too close to the psu power cable if you used an sfx psu?
With cases like this, I always wonder if coolers like the Arctic Liquid Freezer line will fit, given that the radiators are thicker than normal.
It looks like it has the 10 mils extra there for fitment, but you may want to run 15 mil fans for performance
nope, had to return mine as it hits the Ram and the power supply
Finished transferring my parts to my X-Gamerx P60, almost brought a NR200 but needed modding for mATX, just couldn't find what I wanted then my search engine posted the P60 on screen, had to get it on Aliexpress. TH-cam video never happen, the transfer didn't go smoothly, operator error, but in the end everything fine. Cable management was a pain, run the RBG to the wrong header and the 24pin and GPU cables have too much length on them, so I try making some custom cables. If I had a long GPU it don't think it would fit if the x16 was at the top, because of PSU cables.
Very nice.
TG panel would be alright if you were only doing a 4060 or something eh
Would really love to see them do a air cool v2 version... maybe a mesh front ?
6950 XT saw no changes in temps with the glass side panel. I also use two intake fans at the bottom of the case so the added air pressure with the glass panel lowered my motherboard temps. It's fine if you have a 3 slot card like mine or many others as there's plenty of a gap for air to enter the gpu
I love the inclusion of the cat back scratcher! Hope it becomes a regular 😺
outstanding
Hey nick why don't you check the nr200p max v2 also ❗
we only need the top part of v2.
CM site doesn't mention DTX mobo compatibility with the V2 edition.
I thought in the NR200P Max you couldn't fit two 25mm 120mm fans in the bottom? Maybe a slight change with the V2 to fit them under the GPU?
You can only fit one 25mm fan with the GPU on a riser cable
I’ve liked and subscribed!
which direction is better to set the air flow? suck it in from the top through the AIO and blow it out from the bottom? Can it be the other way around, suck it in through the dock and blow it out through Aio?
It didnt understand the part about the bottom fans in the video. Are you saying you can use two 25mm fans? or only one slim fan under the riser cable and one 25mm beside it?
Is it possible to fit in a Arctic liquid freezer 2 or 3 AIO? 240 or 280?
Would be nice for them to upgrade the AIO cooler to also be more competitive with the newer 2024 AIO liquid coolers
What happen with the price...
Just waiting for the pc part picker list.
So, what are you recommending the older version if one's budget restricts the build to it being air cooled?
Would you be willing to test this config? Going from top to bottom: Fans (intake), radiator, GPU, fans (exhaust, but maybe try intake too)
The GPU can pretty much always pull fresh air regardless of the config, but in the config that you have, the CPU ends up using the hot air from the GPU. I have a 7950X3D and I dont think this case would accommodate it very well seeing the results with 7700X
Thats not how airflow works. The air temps dont matter. All that matters is that air is moving.
@@GearSeekers he'd also be pushing hot radiator air into the case which is weird and wrong
To know the max could fit the MSI 4090 and this one can fit a strix is insane...
Higher price & loss of conventional GPU layout would be its downfall as a budget fave
I actually skipped over this case specifically because they removed all the interesting color options from the NR200. Ended up going with a Fractal Ridge instead.
The V2 is a garage design. V1 was much better and they discontinued it. Great job though!
Yes please I need a pc part picker list
Can we get the part picker list please 🥺
Does it support a 3.5" HDD? That will determine if I buy it
Which direction did you set up the fans? Lower for intake and upper for exhaust?
Always
