It looks like when you add the paper overlay it affects the video behind it. How do I only add the overlay to just the subject and not the entire background as well?

Yeah, that‘s a stylistic choice! Just merge the paper overlay into the fusion comp with the mask and it‘ll only affect this

Are you on Resolve 18 or higher?
It should be ‚effects‘ - ‚effects‘ - ‚paper edge‘

I don't know, I have a free version of the program. When adding an effect, I can't even edit it in the edit tab. Only through fusion using the merge node.@@SebastianFriedrichVisuals

@@flamastergaming6467 should actually work equally fine in the free version as this is not limited to the studio version. Make sure you select „effects“ in your inspector window
