    I got the RTR version of this Komodo and the Sawback. I only changed the wheel/tires and different shocks. So far I have no complaints. Actually, the Sawback is one of My favorite crawlers. I only had this Komoto for a couple of weeks so, haven't really run it much out doors yet. I am happy with both trucks. Like Your review.

    I have a set of the 1903 Tires. they are great and the design really grips loose dirt. only drawback is their size. my rig was getting stuck high center a lot with them and I ended up swapping them out as a result. I love the look they have. too bad gmade does not offer them in a larger overall diameter. I also have a set of their shocks I really like them.

    Check the shocks for oil at all as they might be empty. The chassis itself looks similar to the cheap knockoff scx-10 chassis on Aliexpress from companies like Injora, only difference is this one has a front panhard bar. Side trays, chassis rails and shock towers look very similar to the Injora. SCX10 sliders would probably be an exact fit. For the same price I would stick with the TRX-4 kit or go with the SCX-10ii builders kit. I would say this is a $225-$250 value at the most. Interested to see how you rate this one after some use, but no matter the results, its priced too high.

    New to RC car hobby and love your videos. I have a couple of Tamiya buggies so far. I love the style of the "crawlers" over the buggy style cars BUT where I live I only have access to rough flat terrain. Of the Crawler style kits what do you think would be more suited for flat terrain with a good speed at least 20mph. I like the capra,bom,R1,gom,wraith etc

    • @paulmccarter908
      @paulmccarter908 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have an Axial with some wheelspeed, and the ratio leads to some off throttle rear wheelies..not really suited for going fast(er). I had a Tamiya CC-01 that has a lockable rear solid axle and front independent that did pretty well going around fast, but could crawl a bit also. good luck

    • @garymurphy5133
      @garymurphy5133 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul, Thanks for the reply. The trouble I have is the only land I can use is uneven dirt/grass and concrete tarmac. I love the style of the crawlers,buggies don't do it for me. If I could get a "crawler" style model to do 20/25mph I would be suited.

    Small screws and undersized bearings? I'll stick with Axial.
    Because of the high frequency noise of the portals, I'm not in love with the TRX Sport, even though it may technically be more capable than an Axial.
    My dream truck is a solid axle front and back with configureable diffs, but I'm not sure that exists..though someone in my F.B. crawler group suggested it could be found.
    Thanks for the extensive review

    Sorry I know this is a different vehicle but The gmade R1 looks so cool but in videos it looks way to lite weight to bite or the tires are hard... idk maybe the wheels just need weighted so it’s not so much like a cheap toy. I love the look and maybe it is as capable as the look and possibly the videos weren’t strictly rock like it’s intended. Now I’ll watch the vid and comment on the appropriate rc lol.

    Waste of money. Keeps blowing the front pinion bearings, shocks are already leaking, rear chassis brace split. Some of the hardware is very poor quality and heads want to strip out easily. Trans binds when the center skid screws are properly tightened, bad design as the skid is half the transfer housing. One wheel already stripped the hex out, probably because the axle nuts don't support enough area on the outside of the wheel. also broke a shock mount.
    A TRX4 Sport kit is a no brainer here. You need the same components to finish the build, but in the end you are actually getting a usable rig that won't require repair immediately. If you only have $280 to play with buy a TRX 4 Sport kit, or save a little more for a Gen8 if RTR suits you. If you are limited to $280 total buy a Gen7 Sport and a couple batteries.
    I have had this rig for 3 weeks and have spent more time fixing it than I spent building it. Still waiting for more parts to fix it again. In 3+ years of pretty much complete neglect I have spent less than the G Made kit price to not only purchase my Gen7, but to upgrade diffs and trans gears. I'm actually NOT a Redcat fan, but they work and are durable enough to take some serious abuse crawling. The RGT 86100 was a much better buy than the Komode, that was $230 shipped RTR. I thought that was chintzy when I got it, the Komode is on a whole different (lower) level.

    I know a guy who said he designed the kamodo rc truck idk if he is full of shit but he had over 20 new in the box. He said he got 50 cars and $10,000 for the design. He gave me one and I sold it fast for $200. Any idea who Designed this ? Je said he just used a bunch of preexisting parts of other cars.
