2021 NERF ULTRA AMP REVIEW - An Ultra Stryfe! (or a Nerf H&K SMG?)

- The NERF Ultra series isn't exactly loved. While we've had plenty of blasters, some numbered, and some called things like the Pharaoh or Dorado; now we got the AMP... and it's a magazine fed semi-auto flywheeler, or basically an Ultra N-Strike Elite Stryfe. It isn't better than the Ultra 2 in my opinion, but you could definitely do worse. Besides, it looks like the H&K SMG (or SMG 2) which looks rad.
This blaster was picked up at Target in the US for $29.95 by Dr. Flux!

it would literally fix one of the main problems ultra has and made make the blasters acceptable, but with that said an off brand company is probably going to make that milestone happen before its even a consideration at hasbro.

Dart zone: Makes blasters that look awesome, and the darts fly straight.
Nerf: Focuses on the look of the blaster, and ignores designing good darts.
And nerf focuses the looks onto one side of the blaster
The only reason to buy nerf is to find rechamber mega or rival blasters into normal darts.

You can get 3rd party Mega mags, but yes, not from Nerf.

They're literally only there to make it harder for knockoffs to exist. Given that Elites are literally just a foam tube with a rubber head, Nerf wanted Ultra to be harder to create cheap duplicates of. When you can get a 100 pack of waffleheads from NFStrike for less than $6, why buy any Nerf brand darts?

I guess the Pharaoh is like... genuinely the best ultra blaster now. Since at least on mine the thing actually shoots straight like... 70ish percent of the time. I think it might just be that Ultra needs an actual barrel. The Pharaoh is the only Ultra blaster that is both a Springer and has a long barrel. Therefore... maybe that’s what Ultra needs?
I can’t say enough good things about the pharaoh. The rest of ultra? Dogshit. The pharaoh? Definetly my favourite nerf brand blaster of 2020. It’s genuinely a joy to shoot. And now that we know 10-round ultra mags are getting sold separately it’s actually viable for a war!
I love my pharaoh so I bought an amp thats coming today just to have an extra mag for my pharaohs stock storage lol

I wouldn’t say a while, I’d say not that long
When you buy a magazine fed firearm, it may come with one magazine, but at least the manufacturers tend to use already standardized lowers/ uppers so you can go and buy more magazines to fit very easily. If a new firearm was to be sold in such a way that you couldn't buy its new unique magazines separately upon its release, I feel like that manufacturer would have a very hard time selling it on a shelf next to firearms with already standard and easy to acquire magazines. To sell such a firearm successfully would require that unique system to be incredibly innovative and actually do whatever the unique design engineering intended it to with a near 0 failure rate.

“Improved accuracy” can be true if terrible accuracy is where it started.
They do put "compared to Nerf Elite darts" in a footnote, so they are setting the bar as low as possible.

this gun looks so freaking cool and would've been a good addition to the modulus line. Maybe add a stock and make the scope and foregrip removable, make 1 of the mags a larger capacity, change the darts to modulus or accustrike and there you go. You got a smash hit

Yeah they were supposed to be distance darts but as several people on TH-cam had shown they struggled to manage 90 feet let alone 120 this is on top of them hooking left or right wildly

I find it funny that I have no interest in firing ultra out of ultra blasters but am very happy whenever I fire them out of anything else. Enjoyed the review cant wait to see what else happens in 2021 for you.

My theory is that they’re going to release more accurate ultra darts eventually, but make them way more expensive and covered in corporate lies. Just a prediction, but I would not be surprised at all if this happens

It looks like one of the laser SMGs from BL3, like the redistributor. In fact, _The Amp_ sounds like a legendary gun from the game
Only use for this I can think of is short dart conversion. The magwell adapter already exists and the pusher and flywheel modifications don't seem like a big challenge and it would look like a pretty dope SMG type blaster.
I want to see someone make half darts out of the same foam ultra darts are made of. Maybe then will the true "ultra" dart be made.

Re tried all of my ultra blasters with the nerf accustrike ultra darts. And it's night and day difference. It even made my ultra one more than usable. I like the ultra line, it should have been this way since the beginning
Buzzbee is no. 1 for me, the blasters made almost always have great modding potential, and the company usually only makes products that are either really cool or really powerful (and sometimes both like the sentinel)

Ultra 2 is still probably the only blaster that is acceptable (yet) to the community becoz of its rear loading feature
hmm although Id personally go for a Dart Zone Spectrum since it uses more of the common darts and compatibility with mags (as you mentioned)
Harbro was trying to make there own pro type like line with ultra i think but my biggest question is why did they make a proprietary ammo when the dzp and af pro lines are pro lines that are elite dart and general shortdart compatible?
I swear the even the Ultra designs are getting worse, the AMP under the Ultra sign looks out of place
