I have one of these and agree 💯 with this review. Love mine. Very stable and burly bike. Very much a sit and grind to the top climber that lives for the downs.
I had mine for a couple of months, Excellent bike, they ride sick.... Lack anti-squat so pedal like ass but managable. I see you've said its heavy... its in the 17kg bracket...... so that puts it with alot of other enduro/super enduro..... FYI - i did sell it and bought a slash. even more capable but pedals like a trail bike in comparison.
I rented two XR for bike park days and it was perfect in that role, I demoed one not long after in a "urban" environment and Indeed I found the bike wasn't a happy pedaler but I expected much worse 😊
I didn't clock this was an Aussie channel and spent the first couple minutes of this video trying to figure out the brit-aussie accent in an american context
Mmmn only marginally lighter than Polygon Collosus N9 and sounds like perhaps the Collosus with it's six bar suspension platform pedals better than the Marin despite being heavier? The welds on the alloy frame look fairly prominent, wish the value bikes from bikes online took a leaf out of Orbea's hydro polished alloy which looks like carbon except from a small visible weld near the BB. However it appears both Orbea and Marin are guilty of speccing underwhelming brakes my Rise H15 came with 2 piston Deores, which is even more ridiculous than DB8s on the 17kg Marin XR. How would the XR compare against a similarly rugged Commencal Meta AM or SX?
I wouldn’t own another Maren the hex bolts start to rust and when you rinse it off after riding it even in the dust if you don’t make sure you wash it off completely and dry it it’ll rust completely specialized bike. That’s just my opinion. Happy trails.
Great request! Did you get a chance to check out our recent feature on the Pademelon steering damper? flowmountainbike.com/features/the-pademelon-effect-steering-dampers/ Nick did a great job of diving into the tech behind what is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after components of the year, and all designed in Maydena, Tasmania! change the rear tires and wheels. that thing is a boat anchor. getting rid of gx axs and switching to mechanical shimano xt would be lighter and bettter. carbon bars etc should help with the weight down to about 16 kg
Clever bike for Marin to do. Great suspension, good modern angles and affordable. Good review too. well done.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback mate! We've been really impressed with the new Alpine Trail, and Lia did a fabulous job on the review. [Wil]

Great review - Marin is making some dope bikes.
Thanks Joe! And agreed, we're loving the direction Marin has been heading for a while now, the price-to-performance ratio is really impressive. [Wil]

What a review! Awesome bike and your voice!!!
Awesome review but can I ask for the next ones to go lower with music volume and vibe 🙌🏻
One of the best ever designed.❤
Alpine DH/park bike next? Great review
She’s rapid 😮 and the bike looks nice 🤩
Great review! Was that filmed at Majura?
Looks like it and tuggers pines too
Thanks for the review.
I did rent and try some variation of the previous years XR my biggest complaint was with the two tone paint jobs, problem solved 😄👌

I was using the microphone in my comment below. I said specialized bikes are the bikes that I prefer. I hate making cell phones.
Peace
Marin is really showing me something. Trek take notes.
Beautiful !!! Also the bike.

what trail network is that ? where is it ?
Looks like a mix of Majura and Tuggers pines in Canberra
This need 3 position rear suspension trail, downhill and climb wish they make switch or electronic switch
Frame storage is such a meme lol.
MIPS used to be a meme.
It's still a joke to me tho

Could I request some Aussie/NZ tech? There must be some home grown companies? XX

Damn. You ride a big bike. lol. I’m 181 and I’d be probably wanting a M/L.
Maybe this bike should be called the Alpine Enduro XR because that's no Trail bike.
Vewy impwessive
ill wait for the carbon version
