Hi! are all those objects 3D models? or just splines?

Little bit of both! For the cord, its a spline but others are actual geometry

Hi, thank you so much for awaking me for these cartoonish possibilities in C4D. I used to create such videos in a much harder way than it seems to be in this method. There's any possibility for you to make this .c4d file available to download? (some premium access to files section i didnt found maybe). Cuz the stroke results i'm having in my scene are very messy compared to yours and it would really help to see the set up, meshes, the way it's organized and such..
Anyway thank you again for your great work..

Great tut. I have a question: I'm trying to do this technique while rotating a cube, in other words, my aim was to make a cube which edges draw themselves while the cube is rotating, problem is, I get WAY too much flickering. The object looks ok if it's statick but not while it rotates...it's there an option to stop this from happening, thanx!

Hey! So that's kinda the downside of Sketch & toon and rotating objects is it'll cause that type of issue, so you could try bringing down the Join Limit on the Stroke Material to 0º & unchecking Filter Strokes and see if that helps. Or try rotating the object slower as that can help prevent flickering.

hey , how did you get the models to be transparent so that only the sketch and toons lines show animating ?

    • @eyedesyn

It's not transparent, I just set the models color to be the same as the background so only the lines were a different color

is there a way to join strokes together? and only strokes. i want there to be one stroke to surround any objects overlapping each other.

found it :) sktech material > render > clipr render (outside geometry) > mode (objects)

      Glad you found it!

Hmm...haven't used R14 in a looong time...it may be in another menu or it may have been a new feature. Sorry about that!

In sketch material Main > Control Level > Advanced and animation option is appeared

nice, thanks, learnt a lot again .. My lines though (whatever method I may use) are - for some reason - weirdly ´jumping´ (dissapearing and appearing randomly). I would expect (as seen in your example) - that the line (whatever method is used) - once it has been drawn and in place, it simply stays there. But I am experiencing some different line behavior ..
    (quick example/animation here: facebook.com/alena.hovorkova.77/videos/1384683161575533/ )
Not sure I can ask here, just wanted to try out though, in case you are somewhere around, maybe ..
    thanks, love your tuts ..

Make sure in the Sketch Material you turn "Filter Strokes" off. I also cover in my other drawing on tutorial some things to watch out for that are limitations of the renderer:

thanks a lot! (I would never expect sketch and toon can be such a complex functionality .. ) very helpful ..
