( this is true BTW ) So my mom has a routine where she let's my dogs outside before going to bed, one night my big dog stayed out for a while while my small dog came in. The big dog ended up coming in full of cactus thorns all in her mouth and ears and she likes to chase lizards and you know... Kill them. So she came in crying and my mom was in her bed. Her light was off and she thought my dog had a few goat heads in her paws so she called me to look at it in the living room, so i did and i started petting her and i felt a poke. I looked at her and saw hundereds of cacuts throns all in her paws and mouth, in her nose in ears. So i told my mom and she looked at her and screamed. Litery screamed. My sister ran out of her room and saw my mom crying. My mom told us that she might have to be seduced ( I think) To get the thorns out but my sister said no and she took her that whole night pulling them out . it took 4 days. Now she's been staying far away from our cactus if your still reading this thanks for your time!

My whole world broke that day, but I haven’t been ready to love the shows that we loved to watch together the same until now. He was 66 when he passed and most of it had to do with agent Orange from the Vietnam war. I miss him so much and it’s hard to think that he won’t see me graduate high school and get married or have a baby. He’s here in spirit, I know he is, i feel him a lot. But it’s just not the same as him being here physically. This December 11th will be 7 years without him. My childhood wasn’t how I wanted it to be, but I’m happy I had him at all. Like the vet said, if the dog is smart, they figure it out pretty quick that quills hurt before they get too many in their face, and both these dogs were loaded. That being said, they are still being treated quite well. The owner brought them to the vet so they could get anesthesia and be in less pain, the vets got the job done quickly and I'm sure they did all they could to ensure the dogs would feel better after waking up. The fact is the dogs are a bit stupid, but they are still treated with love and care all the same.
I have a huge Rottweiler who tangled with one of those pokey little boogars and I pulled over 350 quills out of his face with no medication, and before you castrate me in word please understand that I had no choice at the time. It has been over 5 years now and I think that it was so traumatic for him he has never left my property again.

It's crazy..I've always liked animals, but I married my second wife who was a serious animal lover and even though we've been divorced 10 years now ever since I've had a strong love for animals..I appreciate people like Dr. Pol and all who have a heart for critters.
Whenever we have had any problems with porcupine quills, we cut the tips off first which breaks the suction and they pull out much easier. We don’t often have problems with porcupines of which I am very thankful.

People calm down you have to pull them out quickly because if you try to be gentle they will take a long time and it will hurt more it’s like a splinter would you want to take an hour pulling out 2? Or would you take 1 second to pluck them out and have less pain

Like the vet said, if the dog is smart, they figure it out pretty quick that quills hurt before they get too many in their face, and both these dogs were loaded. That being said, they are still being treated quite well. The owner brought them to the vet so they could get anesthesia and be in less pain, the vets got the job done quickly and I'm sure they did all they could to ensure the dogs would feel better after waking up. The fact is the dogs are a bit stupid, but they are still treated with love and care all the same.

Whenever we have had any problems with porcupine quills, we cut the tips off first which breaks the suction and they pull out much easier. We don’t often have problems with porcupines of which I am very thankful.
