Griffin said “Farrah was SO nice…. I didn’t trust her for a long time. But, she was always the sweetest person, and she really was that nice” which I think is a wonderful thing to hear.
He really is a narcissist.....so self absorbed!! His love for Farrah wasn't love for her but love for himself by what she brought him. He couldn't deal with it being taken away from him so when he cared for her he really cared for himself....nothing must change for him. Big case in point: his relationship with his daughter. He needed her so much, hence their unhealthy bond. And when he met Farrah he transferred to her all he had given to Tatum. No wonder the child couldn't comprehend what was happening. How could she be expected to. It can take years and years for her to understand his behaviour. And typically he blames his child for not continuing to make him happy...totally blinded by what he had done to her. A narcissist thru and thru.
No wonder Griffin and Tatum are so screwed up, he takes no responsibility for his parenting. He expected his children (Tatum) to make him feel good all the time instead of the other way around. His dismissive comments about his own son Griffin and insinuating it was Tatum that caused Farrahs cancer and making it sound like he wouldnt have a temper if his kids werent so wild are beyond vile. Again, he takes zero responsibility for perhaps being a bad or at the very least inept parent. He sounds like the guy that tells the police “if she wouldnt have made me mad I wouldnt have hit her”. Wow just wow.
Ryan was the root of all their problems. His children, ex-wives, and others. The only one who survived intact was Leigh-Taylor Young, his 2nd wife, who divorced him and took their son Patrick out of Hollywood. He's the classic narcissist who charmed and then mistreated everyone close to him. He was a terrible parent and husband. He said this himself later on.
Wow!!! A whole interview wallowing in self-pity & blaming his daughter for his own wretched life, for his bad temper, for 'not supporting him' in his womanising. Even claiming his son might not be his flesh & blood. He sounds obsessed with his daughter. What a POS father he was & a whiny pathetic human being.
OMG! His acting in this interview is almost Oscar worthy. Sorry, Ryan, your children are not at fault but you are. They are the way they are because of you and it is a tribute to them that they are still alive and trying to find a normal family lifestyle. What a narcissist!
Do you really know the definition of a narcissist ? From what I know about Ryan, he is not. I really think that he loves his daughter and I have a lot of the same feelings as a mother as he has . No , I don't think that he is a bad father. Are you expecting him to be perfect? Because no one is perfect!
I truly think that ALL of rhe O'Neals are a bunch of narcissistic, self-absorbed so called " celebrities". I really have a hard time feeling empathy for these people, especially Tatum and Ryan. Getting an Oscar at such a young age, has GOT to have an exagerated sense of self-esteem.. Who's to blame?? Them too...
I couldn't believe that - HE'S the parent! And besides, it's all twisted in his mind; the things he says are outrageous. Plus, he's overacting and thinks he's getting away with it. It's easy to see through him. I can't imagine why Farrah wasted time with him. He's a narcissistic jerk.
For the guy to be so jealous and demeaning to her achievements is way out of line. As a parent you ignore insults or temper tantrums from your children, you don’t collect gripes to hold against your kids. The man is terribly immature
I always thought, as parents, their achievements, in a small way, are our achievements, and we are proud of them. He’s just jealous of his own children.
@@giantleprechaun2350 I reckon you’ve never experienced a mean thankless child. The Bible says a thankless child is sharper than a serpents tooth. Tatum caused a lot of heart ache to Farrah, she really isn’t a nice person. I watched one of their reality shows, she asked him if he was going to seek help for his anger. He said yes. So three more times she asked AGAIN. No normal person would take that as anything other than quit poking at a person until they explode. She baits him. He bites. I think she is a toxic person.
@@dianakidd4219 Are you aware that Ryan used to beat her as well as Griffin. It’s no wonder they both turned out kind of messed up. She was also molested by Ryan’s friends.
@@dianakidd4219 Ryan also moved out into Farrah’s house and left Tatum behind to fend for herself when she was only 15 years old. That’s a terrible thing to do.
What's saddest is redmond isnt fit to stand trial which u know is really bad when serial killers are fit. The drs said from all the drugs he has an iq now that is borderline mentally disabled also his fine motor skills are so diminished. He literally did so much drugs he brain is turned into swiss cheese
@@jasminejones9937 He lost his mother,he has no one. He's too far gone from his addiction. His brain is fried. He's a product of his parent's dysfunctional lifestyle. From very early on,he grew up around violence, alcohol, pills and drugs. Here he is,a lost soul,no one by his side, too far gone. I know what heroine addiction does to a person's life. I lost 3 friends, ages 25-35, from heroine addiction. Unlike Edmond, they came from good parent's, good families, all around decent guys. The first time they experimented with pills, little did they know, they were heading to the ultimate evil, heroine. I witnessed first hand the power heroine has on addicts. It takes your soul, literally. The chances of heroine addicts survival is in the single digits. Even those who beat it,they're brain is never the same. Some do well, and some suffer, even after they're clean. The devil is always in them, enticing them, testing them to cave. I know,I've seen my friends go through hell trying to stay sober. All three caved in and eventually overdosed. God bless those 20% who are able to quit and stay sober. God bless them🙏
From what I've heard when farrah & ryan split for good redmond was about 12 or 13 & I guess at that age the judge asked which parent he wanted to live w/ & he chose ryan. Of course a kid would ! He was already doing drugs which ryan not only allowed tatum said he used to send Griffin at 12 to go get the drugs! So he as already a drug user of course wanted to live where drugs were all around & their were no rules or boundaries. I guess farrah at that time was just exhausted. Maybe she was scared to fight to keep Redmond b/c she didnt know how to handle him anymore as she had rules & didn't do drugs drink or smoke. I just cant figure out why farrah would have a child w/ this guy seeing first hand how awful a father he was to his 3 kids.
Ryan says he was a great hands on father. Yeah, you should see the pics of Griffin's face after ryan knocked his teeth out. Ryan slapped Tatum's face. Yeah, a great hands on father.
This man is the epitome of a narcissist. He is a classic. Also, getting confused between his lover and his daughter, as if they are interchangeable?? Big problem. I am not here to judge this man. My observation as a flawed mother is though, that this man is refusing to look at his past, as a father, and to own up to what happened. Children need to have their feelings and memories validated. This man refuses to go there. I believe Tatum is trying to come to terms with her childhood. It is very sad that her father can't own up to it.
Elizabeth Agnew no but she was a full on addict. She was addicted to diet pills and speed and was out of her head most days and to be honest I don't even think she wanted custody because also she was really heart broken that Ryan had left her cold for a younger more famous woman ( Lee Taylor Young). She had a ton of problems poor woman.
Yes, he forgets to say that he dumped his first wife, JoAnna Moore, Tatum's mom, for Leigh Taylor Young years before he met Farrah. He's forgotten the truth, he's been inventing his life as a great guy for so long, he skips right from his first marriage, leaves his second one completely out of the story and goes directly to Farrah. Has he forgotten his second wife and the son he had with her?! BUT she took their child away from LA, which was fine with him, no custody issues at all, then with O'Neal out of the picture-she raised a wonderful young man. No drug problems because she didn't do drugs, didn't offer them to her son and they weren't around for him to try among her group of friends. Hmmmm....
I can't comment on this man's family, relationships and private life, but I can on this interview. All I can see is a lot of hammy acting. He is playing a role. Just look at his expression and eyes and the way he talks. He is mimicking emotions most of the time, and he is presenting himself as the victim of the circumstances, especially his children. When someone talks about such things, they mostly cry real tears, or at least you can feel if they are being honest and really shattered, but here I feel nothing. Except acting. And it is all about himself, what he has done, how he feels, how "they" have troubled him, how ideal his love with Farrah was. To me these are all signs of a raving narcissist. Sorry, I don´t believe him.
+Punki80 Sure! Ryan is presenting himself as a victim. That's pathetic! He was an ADULT and his daughter was A TEENAGER. He is unfair to blame her and her first wife. Tatum should have helped him,she was cruel and he was a saint. That's worthless.
I totally agree. He thinks of himself only and relates everything in this world as to how it impacts him - singly and solely him. He feels nothing for any other living thing on this planet - he is a true Narcissist He pulls his acting out of his back pocket when it can be used as a tool to evoke pity and emotions from others for himself. He speaks of his kids like it is " Me vs Them' mentality.
How sad that everyone in this man's life was made worse by him. Farrah would have most likely had a better life with Lee. His poor children who desperately wanted his love but he only loves himself, and more so poor Tatum whom I'm sure he always resented for having won a Oscar. I feel for his kids He's pathetic!!
Poor Tatum? Farrah was dying and all Tatum cared about was still being toxic and blaming her dad, when it was her own jealousy that ate her up. This man raised her alone from infancy.
@@SmoBoo if tatums a narcissist she got it from ryan who is an overt narcissist. I'm sure tatum was jealous of farrah but remember she was still a child. Her dad also created that dynamic. He would pit them against eachother playing racquetball & would egg them on til they were clawing & scratching at eachother. Ryan gave tatum no boundaries as a father daughter relationship. He took her for years as his date. She said as a kid when only she was living with him he had a different girl in the house every night & the environment was sexually charged as ryan would seduce women w/ the music & drugs & dim lighting with tatum right there. I cant imagine how confusing that was. Then when ryan took the flavor of the day to his bedroom he would say to to tatum " she gets to sleep in my bed you dont " how crazy! Then ryan would feel bad then bring tatum into the bed to sleep next to him w/ the chick on his other side. That's just insanity. She had such a neglected & abusive early childhood living on a dilapidated ranch w/ her brother griffin & her mom. The horrors that went on I dont even want to get into. If u read her book u will be astonished. So forever in Tatum's mind was her handsome young father rescuing her & her brother from her mothers abuse neglect & her mom wouldnt boy food shed lock the 2 kids up for a day til they wet themselves. They walked to school in rags looking filthy on their own b/c her mom was so wacked out on speed. Griffin fell off a roof & broke his foot. Her mom was in her 30s w/ a 15 year old bfriend who used to beat her & griffin w/ switches from the trees. When Ryan took the kids & got full custody he had them staying w/ his parents & she said his mom bathed her clipped her long dirty nails she said the tub was black from her mom never bathing her. She had a mouth full of cavities from no healthcare. They ate whatever sugar & candy they could steal b/c the mom never cooked. She was sexually abused at 6 by one of the many vagrants that would party at her moms dilapidated ranch. I think her & ryan cant let go of the time they spent making paper moon. Their was a schedule consistency & they both came home so tired theyd collapse. They hit it off making the movie & when it wrapped she said her dad had no idea how to raise this little girl as a young man ( griffin was away at boarding school ) it was just the two of them making a movie & it shows how important a child craves consistency. She said she loved waking up for months knowing how the day was going to be. So in her mind I think she is so conflicted b/c on one hand she sees her dad literally as this golden haired prince coming to rescue her then their incredible closeness making their movie. She said their relationship got destroyed once she won the oscar. Stanley Kubrick's daughter vivian said when tatum was in England or Ireland when her dad was making barry Lyndon when the oscar nominations came out & she was nominated not ryan he punched her lights out. She does not remember this b/c it must have been so traumatizing. But vivian Kubrick & Stanley remembered this. Stanley of course directed Barry Lyndon. I think it was so traumatizing to her b/c they were so close & he was her hero getting her away from that horror show ranch. Tatum said she was always afraid waking up b/c she lived & died by her fathers moods. If he was in a good mood she was happy. If he was in a bad mood she was miserable. The two were almost one person. Tatum finally couldn't take it at 12 so she moved in w/ cher. She loved living w/ cher so much that like she was w/ her dad she became possessive of cher. She admits she tried to keep people away from cher. She lied & told cher that her close friend Raquel Welsh was saying horrible things about cher & cher believed her so it strained their friendship. ( she said Welsh hated tatum after that) she also told cher that then husband Gregg Allman was doing heavy drugs before he ironically did have a serious drug problem, cher believed her again & it hurt her marriage to gregg. Finally after months of living at Chers house she started to see that tatum was a liar & put together that tatum constantly was saying lies about too many people in chers life so she called Ryan & asked him to come get his kid. That in itself is a problem. Why was ryan letting his pre teen child just live w/ cher for months ? So yes I absolutely think tatum was a hard to handle possessive child to Ryan & cher or whomever she latched herself onto. I mean i can see why she would cling so hard to people who showed her love & kindness. She had a very hard sad life from the beginning. I think farrah got jealous b/c farrah was taking her dad away. I think she really started to dislike farrah when her dad left her at 15 & griffin at 14 alone in his house & moved in w/ farrah & i think she expected farrah as a woman & to tell ryan it was wrong to just dump hos underage kids to raise themselves but farrah didnt. She also got the idea that farrah now in her 30s , fearing aging did not like the idea of being any kind of step mother figure to two teenagers. It made her feel older. So I agree tatum was wrong to go to farrahs death bed & bring up the past for her own closure but this is a very dysfunctional woman. Look how she married a fiery aloof many times unsympathetic irish American in john McEnroe. Clearly she gravitated towards someone most like her father. Tatum was a young beautiful successful academy award winner that could have picked any man she wanted & she chose john. When her relationship w/ john started really cheating up fast he noticed she was doing insane amount of coke. So his crazy idea to get her off the coke was to get her pregnant! They were not married & only dating more months. Obviously in her book where she paints a pretty bad picture of john , she was no picnic. Even she admitted she was a mess & not right for john & said he & his now wife of like 25 years patti Smyth were a much better match. They are both organized driven efficient type a people. So his 2nd marriage has been a great success. Tatum like her mom also lost custody of her 3 kids. For a mom to lose custody esp in the 90s shows how unfit tatum was. I do think it's long over due back to her 20s as an adult u just cant still hang on to " I had a bad childhood " & take responsibility for ur actions.
Disgusting human being who is emotionally stunted and a narcissist. He was implying his daughter had more than just daughter/father feelings for him and that's just despicable
Ryan is not being honest in this interview. Farrah and him were separated several times during the course of their relationship. I do believe that they were even separated at the time Farrah found out about her cancer. Ryan has an explosive temper.
Yeah, she caught him with a 25 year old on Valentines day. He had locked all the doors but he forgot that Farrah still had the garage door opener and he got caught. That is when she got bored of him. The moment she saw him with another. Very tacky. He doesn't want to admit it straight up but at least he admits that they all caused harm to Farrah.
9 minutes in and I'm so happy he's not my father. I think Tatum is a beautiful caring honest women and it's surprising she turned out so well considering this twit was her role model
I completely agree. And it’s unbelievably cold the way he talks about (dismisses) his son Griffin! I think Tatum is doing amazingly well for what she’s been through having parented herself. I feel so bad for all of his kids because they’ve endured so much pain...I wouldn’t have survived it!
I almost become ill listening to Ryan. Malibu, meeting the queen, having everything she wanted! Yes, everything but a stable, loving, disciplined home life.
What he said about Griffin was so stupid when he said that he wasn't sure that he was his flesh and blood and that he might get a test. Shoot, Griffin looked/looks more like him than Redmond does/did.
I believed him. Tatum has a reputation of being mean. Griffin fought his dad physically , in jail 40 times. Redmond was no different. Farrah sure deserved better.
Ryan is human, flawed like all of us. He seems caring, concerned and in emotional pain! He wanted a life with his love Farah. I'm sorry, I think Tatum was very jealous of her father's relationship! She wanted her way! Even on the show, if he doesn't say or do what she wants or expects....she mad at him! She can't blame drugs, her marriage, her failings, everything on Ryan. Take some responsibility for your own actions and choices!!! They all need to get on with their lives and stop the blaming! Life is so short, there is a beautiful thing called, unconditional love! One day you will wake up and it could be too late! Some one else could get sick or even worse, die!
I know! He is horrible. She needs to just let him go. He is narcissistic and she won’t ever be able to talk to him unless she blames everything on herself. He makes me sick listening to him.
@@angelanetherton8240 He seemed to take blame when he erred. I haven’t heard her take any blame for the awful things She did to Farrah , or to her father. I’ve seen this do many times. Dad leaves the mom, kids hate step mom . Kids do deserve two loving parents. Drugs are the devil and has destroyed so many lives and homes.
As if it's the child's fault for being a child. You, Ryan, were the parent. Queen Elizabeth, Michael Jackson, and being in movies are not the recipe for happy children: how incredibly superficial.
Yes in the show when he & tatum were in the hot tub talking when they talked about farrah , tatum said she was so alone. Ryan says u had ur mom ( her mom lost custody of her at 6 bc she was always on drugs or booze ) her grandma ( his mother that when tatum called to tell her that her dad's dealer molested her called her a liar & said she was in love with ryan ) then he said u were a famous person u had lots of friends tatum says u realize how crazy that sounds. Superficial hollywood friends are not a substitute for a parent. And yes she did try with celebs she lived with cher for months until tatum sadly as a child got possessive of cher & lied to cher that her friend Raquel Walsh was trashing her behind her back. It started a fued between the two. She also lied & told cher greg Allman was doing drugs . That turned out to be true bit gregg hated tatum for that so cher called ryan to take her home. Tatum said cher didnt stay mad at her bc she was only 12 & saw she had a terrible home life which is why she let her live there to begin with.
I agree. At the same time I feel that very few people can handle that level of fame/infamy. I don't think it's a coincidence that when actors are starting out they're usually down to earth, sharp, and very nice, but once they get incredibly famous they almost always descend into madness. Imagine being told for decades by every person you cross paths with that you are the sexiest, most brilliant, relatable person there is. It would be nearly impossible to not live in a fantasy world, as Mr. O'Neil clearly does.
Even jokingly implying near the beginning of this interview that he might have preferred to have Piers as a child instead of Tatum is just deeply shocking. Not as shocking as being physically abusive to your kids, but still.
Where are Ryan'a tears there are NO tears he really is trying to act even through this interview with Piers Morgan. He really wanted his kids to take care of him and when they didn't come through they weren't enough a supply for his narcissism. So essentially he gave up on his kids.😥😥😥
There are a couple of times during this interview that I caught Ryan glare quickly at Piers and I swear had there not been a camera he would have pounced on him like a lion.
I think he is a classic narcissist. Everything he says is from the perspective of him being at the centre of the universe. He seems incapable of seeing the world from his families perspective. Very tragic really.
Also, Tatum was precocious as a child, and probably a very manipulate teenager. And I don't think she's turned out very well in her personal life as an adult. I can well imagine her causing trouble in her father's new relationship.
Lol. Yea. BUT the same alcoholic and drug addict ...wow. Blaming her dad for tht, too?? As an adult?? Lmao. Tatum has a a screw loose!! To do tht. Give Ryan all the guilt. No!!! He has NOT. And I dnt have respect for her.. know and see, her parents took drugs and drank ...as a child...she should just always had hated alc m drugs NOT BLAME HER DAD ..wht she did isn't HEALING. She ain't an angel ok. N I'm indeed pissed off now. Tatum dsnt want healing! She's toxic. I really can't stand tht finger pointing any longer. Tatum was jealous of Farrah. Come one for heaven's sake...I rather think, she made Ryan's life a living hell. I would just take them on their hands and give them real healing!! Wht Tatum did n does IS NOT RIGHT in any way as well! Ryan won't live forever and especially Tatum should make peace to her dad! Give him peace but THTS not what she wants as well. Damn I'm so angry of her, too!
Of course the child who was abused, assaulted, given drugs by her father, seen her father have sex right in front of her, and abandoned by pretty much every adult she loved in her life is gonna end up fucked up. Why the hell should she forgive her narcissistic abusive creep of a father? He's a sick man, absolutely vile. The further away she gets from him the better

O'Neal is completely clueless as to what it really means to be a father; a celebrity lifestyle doesn't replace love, time and sacrifice. I don't believe any of his children will ever be able to build a good relationship with him as he is incapable of really loving anyone but himself!
He wouldn’t be so emotionally destroyed if he didn’t love Farrah and his daughter , his sons too. It’s clear this man loves them. He’s grieving. His daughter needs to realize that everyone has limitations. I think his daughter could have behaved a bit better if she truly loved her Dad. That goes both ways , ya know.
Toia Townes that is absolutely true. But I think he deserved to have an intimate partner , wife . The child has to be obedient and should have a love and concern for the happiness and basic needs of a parent. Are you saying he should have waited til she was 18 years old to date? The Bible says, God first , then the marriage, then the family as a whole then the individual members. That’s the order that the Bible says the priority should flow.
Rachel Schwebach In an interview with Larry King, Farrah said Ryan gave her lots of support and helped her develop her acting skills; something that Lee Majors tried to destroy. Lee controlled Farrah; Ryan lived his life completely for loving Farrah until her own insecurities from getting old and losing her beauty, Farrah kept pushing Ryan away. Farrah flirted with the producer of one of her movies. After she broke it off from Ryan, Farrah connected with that guy who eventually beat Farrah because she refused to do everything he wanted including marrying Farrah. That producer went to jail. Charlie’s Angels taught Farrah that she can be in control of her own life, but Lee Majors and that producer Farrah hooked up with wanted to control Farrah which as Farrah told Barbara Walters, Farrah doesn’t want to be controlled in the same way she doesn’t like to control another person’s life.
@@MegaLWordFan what about ryan cheating on her with a 25 year old? Farrah caught them in bed together . That's why they broke up in 97. I'm sure that did wonders for her insecurity of getting older. Yes I've heard lee majors was like that old school husband that wanted dinner on the table when he got home & a wife waiting for him. If lee kept her back how did she get her iconic fame on Charlie's Angel's & the poster. Basically after lee she really coasted on her iconic 70s status. I'm also sure lee majors opened doors for her fame. Also farrah left zero to Ryan or alana. I'm not even talking about money. She left him nothing . Nothing sentimental. She left her college bf 100 grand. Ryan kept the guy from seeing her. He also destroyed redmond by giving him drugs & money as a teen. That's how he controlled Farah bc he made his home a party pad for redmond so he told the judge at 12 I wanna live with my dad. Of course he did. Drugs money no discipline & no making him go to school. I do blame farrah bc she should have told the judge ryan is unfit to parent my only son. All she had to do was pull out exhibits a & b tatum & griffin. Ryan punched 14 year old griffins teeth out. She should have legally fought for Redmond instead of letting him go off to Ryan's. I heard she did not want drugs in her home. So u do something about it. Redmond was her only child a baby she wanted so badly. I'm shocked after seeing how ryan was with tatum griffin & when patrick visited she would even have a baby with him. She never wanted to marry ryan , what does that say .
Natalie Panaro Stack: Ryan cheated on Farrah long after Farrah had been pushing him away and flirting with the James Orr she ended up with after she and Ryan broke up. That James Orr was the worst out of all men she has been with because he actually hit Farrah. That was a big deal in the news because Farrah had broken her nose and had other bodily scrapes on her from hitting the ground. Farrah was so opposite of her TV character Jill Munro in Charlie’s Angels in that she leaned too much on her beauty, and not enough on her self-respect. The last few years of her life after she and Ryan had reconciled, after she died, during the legal battle, in court her University exboyfriend, Gregory Lawrence Lott, produced a letter saying that Farrah and him were involved again while Farrah was reconciled with Ryan. They had reconciled after Ryan was diagnosed with cancer. She helped Ryan win that battle. When Farrah’s beauty started to fade, she got more depressed, and started trying different things that’s when she started flirting with the James Orr which drove Ryan frustrated. Yes, Ryan should not have allowed Griffin and Tatum in their main family home after those older children got into drugs; they had a beach house, that could have been where Ryan spent time with his older kids. It is truly too bad that Redmond can’t seem to get control of his life. Redmond is living strictly off the monthly allowance of approximately $19,000 per month that Farrah has left Redmond out of $4.3 million. Ryan is a rich man, so Farrah didn’t to leave Ryan money. Farrah didn’t leave much money to other people, most went to Redmond. Farrah left $500,000 to her nephew, Gregory Walls; $500,000 to her father, James Fawcett; and $100,000 to ex-lover Gregory Lawrence Lott. Ryan O’Neil is worth $15 million. When Farrah was still with Lee Majors she only guest starred in a few TV shows, she earned $20, 000/month from her TV commercials which court papers revealed paid for the renovations and additions to the home she shared with Lee Majors. Furthermore, while she was Lee majors, her acting career were as a guest star until she was a co-star in the TV series “Charlie’s Angels.” Finally, Farrah also didn’t want to marry Lee Majors, but she gave in to pressure to please her very Catholic mother. Farrah had said that Ryan gave her confidence in being a better actress. In his book, Ryan said he helped her prepare for her acting jobs after Charlie’s Angels. It’s too bad that Farrah didn’t have a better lover. All the men she was with were all too dysfunctional and that includes Lee Majors who is too stuck in the old ways about relationship between husband and wife. Farrah quite Charlie’s Angels because of Lee Majors because her time on the set took her away from having Farrah wait on him with home made hot meals.
His children were all wild because he didn’t set rules or have parameters within their daily lives...children need to feel safe and secure as much as they need to be loved. Parents who are loving and kind, respectful and present, to each other and to their children who together aren’t afraid of structure and prioritize their time and attention simply don’t have wild children! Children who are brought up this way are confident, respectful, and well mannered leaders in school and beyond.
Wow. His reaction and response says it all when he’s asked do you love her. Total, complete narcissist. Before Farrah, his supply source was low and Tatum was his primary source. They had a very creepy unhealthy relationship that lacked boundaries. He kept her separated because he knew she would not want to see another woman being beaten. The stress of HIM and HIS toxicity is what did it to Farrah. Total complete narcissist. What he says about Griffen - wow. He left out the huge part how he tried to shoot him with a rifle. That’s what ended their relationship.
This man abused the hell out of his kids. He wasnpissed off his young daughter won an award for.paper moon and abused the hell out of her. He is crazy. Look at the lives of his kids.
I was tatum and my step mom was farrah. My dad was Ryan. I pulled my dad one way and my step mom pulled my dad in another. When my step mom was dying she whispered i never meant to take your daddy from you. I had not see her for years and here after alll those years that was her amendment. I was so touched. My dad and i were never, ever as close as we had been before my step mom. But i loved my step mom and sent me away her gift of love and understanding. Ryan was in the middle of a woman and child.
The child of his 4 I feel the most for Is griffin. Each sibling had something. Tatum won the Oscar which gave her a career money & that Oscar certainly makes her a big part of history esp being the youngest person to win one. So their will always be interest in Tatum. Also the bad news bears is a classic. Patrick had a stable mom to raise him. He's the only kid who didn't become a hard core addict. The only one not raised by Ryan. Redmond had Farrah at least til he was 12 & asked the judge to let him live ww/ Ryan b/c anything went at Ryan's including a drug supply while Farrah didn't allow it. Redmond also inherited the mother load from Farrah. Redmond would not get off drugs so his issues really were if his own making for a very long time. Farrah tried to get him into like 100 rehab centers all over calif but Ryan kept pulling him out as the custodial parent & later the teen & 20 something he chose to live with. Farrah could not force her adult son to live with her. It's sad a judge allowed Redmond at 12 to decide where he wanted to go at 12 they really can't & shouldn't have to choose. I also think Farrah may not have known her 12 year old was already doing drugs. Look Farrah picked a jerk like Ryan & she saw his treatment of his elder 3 kids so if I was her I would have ran. She was at least smart enough never to marry the guy. God what a nightmare. Her child though , maybe she figured since she never married Ryan for good reason would be safe. Judges & courts can be very unfair & I don't believe Farrah ever gave up on her son nor do I think she ever stopped trying. I think she finally saw the serious addiction & it was way too late & since she dumped Ryan she also might have tried tough love w/ Redmond in not letting him bring drugs into her home. Tatum who I believe loved her baby brother said " redmond is the worst addict ive ever seen in my life " Griffin had nothing & Tatum said he was the most abusive to griffin b/c he was so small.
In a Vanity Fair interview not long after Farrah’s funeral, Ryan describes the incident at the funeral but not the lie he told here. he admits he did not recognize Tatum and thought she was just a beautiful blonde - he even said “it’s so sick”. His lies really are pathetic but I think he has lied to himself his whole life and actually now believes the version of history he has rewritten in his mind.
@Lori Miller I have to believe at first he didn't recognize her b/c I don't think Ryan would knowingly hit on his daughter but is hard to believe he didn't recognize her. A parent or child never forget what the other looks & sounds like. Also Tatum was always a public figure. I'm sure Ryan saw her in interviews & photos well into her adulthood. He did see her everyday for the first 16 years of her life pretty much. I mean she lived w/ him obviously b/c he was her only functional patent. Her poor mom as bad a parent she was to the 2 kids on the ranch Tatum seems to have great sympathy for her esp in her book she was a girl from a tiny tiny backwoods town in Georgia. It was so tiny they didn't have a stop light. She was the sad cautionary tale of a young beautiful actress eaten up by Hollywood esp during the studio system years where it was a requirement to screw whatever powerful man that demanded it for u to keep ur contract at one of the studios. Her mom Joanna 's whole family was killed in a car accident leaving her orphaned. She was molested by foster dads. She then set out to Hollywood. Typical story of young beautiful woman who goes to Hollywood from a small town for big dreams. As I said Joanna was forced to do whatever so some mam would get her parts. She mostly did episodic TV & small parts in movies. Like Judy garland she was put on speed to keep her weight down & they believed at the time make actreses stay younger looking longer. Nearing the end of her 20s & never making it big Hollywood discarded her. During that period b4 she was dropped she net Ryan who both admitted she got pregnant the night they met. Then griffin came 9 months later. Sounds like Ryan's career took off & he dumped the family when the kids were still baby's. So Joanna completely fell apart. The speed made her lose her hair so she wore wigs & was a full blown addict. Anyway the point is yes it was great Ryan got the kids out of that ranch environment esp at a time period a famous dad wouod just walk. I just thing Ryan was way too young when he had Tatum at 21 & griffin less than a year later. Hos career was taking off & he was a real ladies man & started losing interest in Joanna. I do sympathize that it had to be very difficult to raise 2 little kids as a young single dad. I think the kids sadly wouod have been better off away from Ryan & stayed in the boarding schools cause he obviously didn't know what to do w/ the kids. My sympathy ends there b/c he was so abusive to his kids. So yes the vanity fair piece he absolutely admits to hitting on " this pretty blonde sweedish looking d Woman & it's mt daugher it's so sick " Tatum in her book says the exact same account of this in her book. So I'm not sure why the Joe Frazier story.
Thanks for making this post. I read the vanity fair article & he described it just as Tatum did. He said " here I was just saying goodbye to Sarah & this beautiful blonde sweedish looking woman hugs me & I ask her to get her car & let's go grab a drunk. Suddenly she says " dad it's me tatum" & he immediately said " oh hi Tatum baby "
Now he's gone. Maybe with Farrah ? Wonder if he sees things any better now ? Hope Tatum and the guys are doing alright now. I don't think Redmond will ever be free, he really lost it and was running around stabbing people. Such a sad legacy.
I'm sorry but I use to like Ryan O'neal, but he is a selfish human being. He really doesn't like his daughter very much and he just wants everyone to feel sorry for him. Well honestly I feel sorry for Tatum and his son Griffin. He is absolutely SHAMEFUL.
@@terr777 Yeah, Patrick the one he wasn't around enough to screw up. The three he raised all struggled with drug addiction and alcoholism throughout their lives. His youngest son Redmond was recently arrested for attempted murder, robbery and assault after he tried robbing a store.
This man's narcissism is SO thick and heavy, that there is simply no way for him to see any way except his own. He is a brick wall. Some people should not be reproducing. Period. And sorry, but the cycle seems to be ongoing with Tatum. I'd be upset at him if I were her, too, but what changes did she make with her own children?? -She's going to waste away blaming while her own kids are here in the now to change it all, quit it? Make a difference? - tragic- All of them. Just too damn self absorbed not to prevent it from carrying on to the next generation. :(
I was in a 2 year relationship with a guy similar to my previous comment. One day after apologizing for something I said in anger, He replied, "I really admire how you always take responsibility." I said, "Well I take it for MY part." I made it a point to do that, and felt it was up to him to own HIS part. But, of course, HE thought everything was MY fault, and looked absolutely stunned when I said that.
Pure and simple:he’s an egoistical, narcissistic person who had absotively no business in being a father. He’s constantly gaslighting Tatum…it’s pathetic. And poor Tatum is STILL struggling from the horrible parental foundation this “man” gave her. It’s an extremely difficult interview to watch. Tatum is an amazing, beautiful person!
It was Tatum who was acting 24/7 and still is which sprang from winning an award that she was too young to handle. To her it said she was a better actor than her dad and everyone else and she lived her life as tho she were. She ran around telling everyone who'd listen that her dad was not a good dad but nothing could be further from the truth. Tatum basically had and still do a core' ngrato. And that is the true truth.
@@Doreana48501 If you showed this clip to any licensed mental heath therapist, they’d quickly tell you that Ryan has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.(NPD) (Obviously no therapist is allowed to legally or morally make a diagnosis of someone who is not their client, but they’d be diagnosing him “in their mind.”) For adult children who’ve survived this tragic parenting, they tend to become really perceptive of knowing NPD when they see it, (and stay clear of it), or, are numb to it and tragically seek it out in a partner or spouse, or, defend it when they see it in others because to recognize the truth of it is a painful reality to live with. (For many reasons)
I am now 72 looking back on so many things and still learning. Paper Moon was and is one of my favorite movies... Holliwood has been corrupt and corrupted its actors, maybe we cant blame individuals for that, but still, I am grateful for some great movies, that have given me courage and inspired me. God works in mysterious ways!
+mymagiclieswithin i'm not defending him,but men often don't easily cry. it's a combination of our physiology, and social conditioning. so, don't judge by lack of tears.
Joanna Moore died in 1997. Tatum & Griffin spoke very highly of their mother just as they spoke highly of Farrah. She even went to see Ryan's three older children solo. Farrah, I know you reading this from up in Heaven, no matter how much hell Ryan put you through, you stood up strong.
She was a sad case. Orphaned at 7 when her parents and sister died in a car crash. Then, she went dead in her 20s. Had an operation to restore some hearing. Lost 3 fingers in a car crash. Became a total mess with drink and drugs. Started sleeping with a 15-year-old boy. Think Ryan wanted a woman he could dominate and shame.
There is something very weird about this whole thing!? Tatum was treated like a grown woman by him from a very early age it seems...she was like his partner not his daughter....and he still tries to blame her for their problems, even though she was a child...he can't take responsibility for his mistakes but puts it all on his kids....who's the adult here?!!!!.. he makes out he is such a victim it's quite disgusting
wow, he just doesnt get it nor will he ever. He failed as a Dad. He has no boundaries with Tatum, he never saw her as a child that needed to be nurtured and taught the difference between right and wrong, he saw her as one of the guys. It is so sad. He loves her but in a very arms length kinda way, people who are deadly selfish tend to do that, they think 'I love you but dont hassle me'
Joanna Moore was gorgeous & had this amazing, lilting southern accent. She was a wonderful actress &she had a wonderful voice. See her in andy griffith show where she sings.
Yes he was with Farrah when she passed away but she lived at her old house she didn't live with him But the way he talked like he took care of her he didn't
Wow! He just can’t love her for who she is…..he is so critical of her. I have seen a side of Tatum that makes me realize how she is in constant turmoil trying to have his approval when he just refuses to be proud of her rising above her struggles.
I think there is so much hurt that it is hard to find complimentary words to say. I don't think that statement should be over analyzed. I see both sides. Tatum has told the world how much hurt she has suffered at the hands of her father. I see someone who expected his whole attention and didn't get her way. He is a narcissist but the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Ryan you talk a great deal about your love for Farrah. Perhaps there needs to be a shift where you talk more about your love and admiration for Tatum. Praise her for turning her life around and don't cast light on the mistakes she made in her life. In the privacy of her own heart she beats herself up enough on her own. I do however feel as though Tatum should have invited both you and Farrah to her wedding. Tatum did this to hurt you. That was wrong and she should apologize to you. We are all flawed and there is room for improvement. To both you and Tatum, Griffith and Redmond Hate is not a family value.
Il devrait étudier le triangle de karpman qui résume l'essentiel : ni victime ,ni bourreau, ni sauveur. Cette condition permet d'accéder au stade adulte !.
Ask yourself a question if your daughter was up for an Oscar at 11 would you not fly from England and be with her on the night but he didnt. Tatum says when she teased him that she won the Oscar and he didnt he punched her in the face- i believe her
CJ_ Productions Cherokee was in London filming of film with a big jerk time director and he couldn't get off you think production companies got money to just throw away? Enough that he put her in the movie so she could win the Oscar no just shut the hell up and grow a brain
You believe her? I don't. I don't believe half of what the grown child/woman says-- about her dad OR her former husband. She needs to move on-- and zip it. A self-absorbed and rather immature older woman (my age) who was very jealous of Farrah Fawcett. Period.
He is very intelligent and insightful. He made mistakes - we all do. I sympathise with him. I don't think a narcissist would be as reflective and insightful as he is in this interview. Of course he may have been very narcissistic earlier in his life.
Wow. i think Ryan just needs to own up to some of his mistakes. i think that is all his kids really want. He seems to be selfish. we have all made bad choices in our lives at times....it seems to me that "he" is living in a fantasy. He has done no wrong. Bulls**t. I believe his kids. "Love 'always' means having to say you're sorry".....
It was ok, until he said that he is relieved not to see his sons and needs to do DNA test, then what he is waiting for, just get it done and find out, otherwise not to see own sons, that sounded kind of scary
Lynn Rozakis His seeming "cluelessness" is the best acting of his entire life! He's totally calculating. He's got this act down pat-even when he screws up, it just becomes part of his "misery". This Character is the best one he's ever played-probably because he wrote, directed and produced (continues to produce) him. Now, after all the countless interviews meant solely to say, "Remember me? I was in "Love Story". That's the movie that made Ali MacGraw a big star. I played the sad husband who loved her so much and lost her.Well, I'M BACK! Now Farrah Fawcett is ill, and even though she refused to say my name, referring to me as 'the father of my son', I'm SO devoted and SO sad again you need to know about what's going on with me...um, I mean FARRAH, that's what I meant to say...". Until finally he and Ali MacGraw (who came out of a nice life far from Hollywood and creepy old men like R O'N) are doing a play together!! IT WORKED!! We won't hear a peep out of him about how sad, wonderful and sad, he is again. He won't need Tatum anymore because he got this job, so probably he isn't sad because she "didn't speak to him for 25 years" anymore. I bet he actually plans to win Ali over! OMG! That's it! He's going to (try) to MARRY her!! Huge wedding!! Lots of press because "Sad, wonderful Ryan is finally HAPPY again!" It's so creepy wicked bad, it's the truth.
Is there a book in how to be a father? I don't think he expected his first wife to be an alcoholic and end up in a mental hospital. And left with kids to raise. I don't think he was equipped. I know he had a temper. It's difficult to be raised without a Mother. They we're all dysfunctional....
I see all the extremely negative comments about O'Neal, and realize I'm blinded by the memories of my dad, a charming, mercurial, Irish American, like Ryan. I'm the first not to cut any slack regarding violence, dishonesty, not owning your mistakes, but it HAS to be that I experienced a man like him from birth, that I have a soft spot, and it is largely that Irish charm that captures you. Let's just face it, he is a celebrity, and he has been unbelievably pampered, so on top of being a man, he has an unrealistic, selective view of his past, evident in the way he is SO NEEDY, and has NO concept that he was the cause of a pathological relationship with his daughter, who was more like a wife to him. So, of COURSE Tatum was going to hate Farrah, because she felt like a jilted wife. To hear him put ANYTHING on Tatum about that history is so disturbing. She was a CHILD. You hear him and see he does not understand what the lack of boundaries HE was responsible for, created. But, it is VERY clear when he uses the wrong names when referring to the two women. He has moments that are disarmingly honest and self-effacing. You NEVER hear actors being honest about being washed up, and not being relevent because he was "so-so" as an actor and there are so many options that are better. This kind of person will be the first on your side, and has the guts to stand up under difficult curcumstances, they are sentimental, tender, affectionate, and generous, but incapable of seeing themselves objectively or completely owning up without a caveat, but they can be captivating. Look who Tatum married. John McEnroe. An Irishman as famous for his temper as he was for tennis. It's like let's pick just EXACTLY the man with whom she can relive all the dysfunction.
U make a great point about tatum who at 21 was successful talented & beautiful could have had any guy she wanted & picks someone very similar to her father. Sadly the cycle of the dysfunction continues b/c most people will marry someone that reminds them of a parent that was abusive or highly dysfunctional b/c its familiar. Interesting that tatum noted that John's wife who he has been w/ for 25 + years , was a better match for john b/c she said both are very type A , organized , meticulously driven. Also how sad history repeated in Tatum's mom joanna moore who had a horrific childhood herself losing her entire family in a car crash then she came to Hollywood from a town that had 1 stop light in deep southern georgie. She was metoo'd for sure & the studio system back then hooked many actresses on amphetamines to stay thin & working a lot. Anyway joanna lost custody of her 2 kids w/ ryan ( back in the 60s that was not common at all to take all rights from a mom that's how non functional & a full blown addict her mom was ) then tatum lost custody of her 3 minor children. Very sad. On top of that her oldest child kevin got busted for drugs & possession of a host of hard core drugs on his person.
" great...hands on...no not great...that's funny" ..just when it seems he has moments of self awareness and regret..he reverts back to avoidance..his comments re Griffin are heartbreaking to listen too
Let anyone that is above reproach, cast the first stone.....everyone is guilty of wrong doing....not one among us is perfect.....give this man a thumbs up for trying to fix his wrongs...everyone deserves a second chance. Even the critics.
That's how I feel about Roman Polanski. So many hate on him without trying to understand where he is coming from. But I have to say I don't really like Ryan O'neal.
She loved her Daddy, and another woman was coming into your life. It sounded like you pushed her away. Tatum loves you and you can't let go and love her for who she was/is. This all sounds about you and it isn't. Believe in your daughter and show her love.
He talks about his son loving the new school, but devalues Tatum's opinion. Watch his face show his true feelings for his scapegoat daughter. It's at 5:35. Look at his face when he talks about her. Makes her look very puny to Piers. His face says "oh it's so hard for me!". Poor ME.
I loved him so much in Love Story - I hoped he would be like his character in real life...unfortunately he is not. It is such a shame that his real life personality has ruined all good memories I have of him as an actor.....he is totally ruining his image in this interview as he comes across as a selfish, whiny, fake man with a big ego. He should have chosen his children over a "trophy" woman he stole from another man.
Wow. Tatum and Ryan had some strange daughter-father dynamics. The way this family ended up is a perfect example of why you should never take drugs of any kind.
@@lydialilli4351 He’s lying. He originally admitted that he thought a hot blonde was hitting on him and it turned out to be his daughter. He said the whole situation made him sick.
Its much deeper than what we see or hear, i often wonder what Ryans upbringing was like with his own parents and joanna moores upbringing with her parents, it stems from there and then gets past on generation to the next generation until one decides to heal to break the chain
He as no idea what he has done to his kids, I think he just blocks everything out, but kids are very smart and I will always believe Tatum when she talks about her dad, he seems like he didn't even want kids, look what happened to Redmond same thing, he only cares about one thing HIMSELF!
I have a dad who's very much like Ryan O'Neil-not willing to take ownership of their crappy decision making as parents. You can forgive a person who takes ownership and says they're sorry. It's when the parent doesn't do that and dismisses how you feel that the child has a hard time moving on. Anjelica Huston did not paint a flattering picture of Ryan O'Neil as a boyfriend or father in her memoir.
As an adult of two parents who were narcissistic addicts my advice to Tatum is to forgive and to move forward. I forgave my parents and acknowledged their illness. If you see and treat addiction as an illness as you would someone with Alzheimer’s disease you can move forward. Strong belief in a higher power called GOD helps tremendously. Some people also believe in CARMA. RESENTMENT IS THE POISON YOU DRINK HOPING THE OTHER PERSON WILL DIE
Griffin said “Farrah was SO nice…. I didn’t trust her for a long time. But, she was always the sweetest person, and she really was that nice” which I think is a wonderful thing to hear.
In her book Tatum said that Farrah was really an uncaring person and both Farrah and Ryan were totally narcissistic.
Every psychology student should watch this as a perfect showcase in narcissism.
I believe him to a certain degree. Not all but some.
"Are you proud of her?" "Yeah. She's a great beauty." A total creep.
Perfect insight. Thank you.
What a act, no tears but trying to make himself look like he is crying. This man is so self absorbed.
Them too...
Jerk!
"She didn't help me. I needed help." OMG she was FIFTEEN Ryan! Ick Ick Ick shudder
@Ruh roh !! IS ALWAYS THE SAME STORY, POOR ME❗️😛😝😜
HE WOULD BLAME ANYONE ELSE EXCEPT HIMSELF, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HEARING THOSE BULLSHIT STORIES😫
Help him by not trying to trash is relationship with Farrah.
Toia Townes I think they did to no avail. I think Tatum was a real card.
I thought Jerry Lewis was a bad father but Ryan takes the bad father award.
Excuse me im a single man but his son threatend to take his own life after farrah died whats he supposed to feel
He has a right to. Be upset
Hands down. He wins finally
Walk a mile in his shoes. His kids , all 3 of them are spoiled brats.

What's saddest is redmond isnt fit to stand trial which u know is really bad when serial killers are fit. That son is so hurt by what hurt his father did to his mother. Physical, emotional
Perfectly said.
This guy...O'Neal is a piece of.....work !
Ryan says he was a great hands on father. Yeah, you should see the pics of Griffin's face after ryan knocked his teeth out. Ryan slapped Tatum's face. Yeah, a great hands on father.
His son attacked him. I don’t blame Ryan for defending himself.
It is very sad that her father can't own up to it.
why did his wife let him have the children was she mad
mum always
Hmmmm....
Lady Jonquers yes and the 2 wives were junkies and so we're their kids.
You cannot judge, you are not in his shoes
OK - this thought just crossed my mind too - after watching the whole intereview - he is Acting!
And he freely acknowledges he was only a "so-so" actor. It shows.
Punki you are very astute.

I never heard him say anything about his relationship with Tatum as being unnatural or improper!
So dumb. He never implied that! People are so mentally stunted.

She has done a lot of counseling and hard work to overcome the effects of being ryan oneil's daughter.
He had his own son threaten to take his own life give the guy a break
I completely agree. And it’s unbelievably cold the way he talks about (dismisses) his son Griffin!
I think Tatum is doing amazingly well for what she’s been through having parented herself.

I almost become ill listening to Ryan. Malibu, meeting the queen, having everything she wanted! Yes, everything but a stable, loving, disciplined home life.
What he said about Griffin was so stupid when he said that he wasn't sure that he was his flesh and blood and that he might get a test. Shoot, Griffin looked/looks more like him than Redmond does/did.
he hates himself but doesn't know it when he looks at Griffin he see's a mirror !! Nobody likes seeing their duplicate

The truth is written all over this. He ACTS NOT in Fatherly way but in a v Very concerning way.
Obsessed. Control.??
I think Ryan is two fries short of a happy meal.

Toia Townes that is absolutely true. But I think he deserved to have an intimate partner , wife . What did Farrah see in him? Ryan is selfish, self centered, and a narcissist. Everything he said made me angry. His poor kids.
Natalie Panaro Stack:
Ryan cheated on Farrah long after Farrah had been pushing him away and flirting with the James Orr she ended up with after she and Ryan broke up.
Furthermore, while she was Lee majors, her acting career were as a guest star until she was a co-star in the TV series “Charlie’s Angels.”
Finally, Farrah also didn’t want to marry Lee Majors, but she gave in to pressure to please her very Catholic mother.
He is a great actor and that’s how!
@Laina Lopez Well said and 100% accurate!

The stress of HIM and HIS toxicity is what did it to Farrah. Total complete narcissist.
What he says about Griffen - wow. He left out the huge part how he tried to shoot him with a rifle. That’s what ended their relationship.

Not at all.
Ryan is such an actor. Surely, he isn't this miserable with his life 24/7.
I remember in the 70's on the front of a newspaper was Griffin with his 2 front teeth missing.
I just finished watching Paper Moon. The relationship they had in that movie was a typical case of life imitating art.
Agree
Tatum was perfect for that role because she was just playing herself.
Yeah!
So creepy. Movie is their life really
He hadn't seen her for years, that's why he didn't recognize Tatum at Farrah's funeral.
So yes the vanity fair piece he absolutely admits to hitting on " this pretty blonde sweedish looking d
Woman & it's mt daugher it's so sick " Tatum in her book says the exact same account of this in her book.
I love how Tatum always holds out hope for her loser father. He's never going to come around. He had it all and threw it away.
I think she is a christian so she keeps forgiving him.
I'm sorry but I use to like Ryan O'neal, but he is a selfish human being. He really doesn't like his daughter very much and he just wants everyone to feel sorry for him. Well honestly I feel sorry for Tatum and his son Griffin. He is absolutely SHAMEFUL.
He has 4 kids, right. All 4 are messed up. Has to be him, not them.
I believe one of them isn't messed up.

- tragic-
All of them.
Just too damn self absorbed not to prevent it from carrying on to the next generation.
:(
I was in a 2 year relationship with a guy similar to my previous comment.
One day after apologizing for something I said in anger, He replied, "I really admire how you always take
responsibility."
I said, "Well I take it for MY part."
I made it a point to do that, and felt it was up to him to own HIS part.
But, of course, HE thought everything was MY fault, and looked absolutely stunned when I said that.
Man got custody of kids and immediately sent them out of state to boarding school
Yeah how convenient
Pure and simple:he’s an egoistical, narcissistic person who had absotively no business in being a father. He’s constantly gaslighting Tatum…it’s pathetic. And poor Tatum is STILL struggling from the horrible parental foundation this “man” gave her. It’s an extremely difficult interview to watch. Tatum is an amazing, beautiful person!
He is unbelievable! Everything is about him. He thinks he's the victim
he never stops acting!!!
he can't help himself....it is part of the business!
He's a bad actor. Jealous of his own daughter that received the Academy Award in Paper Moon. Wow he got no soul.
@@Doreana48501 If you showed this clip to any licensed mental heath therapist, they’d quickly tell you that Ryan has Narcissistic Personality Disorder.(NPD)
(Obviously no therapist is allowed to legally or morally make a diagnosis of someone who is not their client, but they’d be diagnosing him “in their mind.”)
For adult children who’ve survived this tragic parenting, they tend to become really perceptive of knowing NPD when they see it, (and stay clear of it), or, are numb to it and tragically seek it out in a partner or spouse, or, defend it when they see it in others because to recognize the truth of it is a painful reality to live with.
He has a great sense of humour too.
Ryan was exemplary in the films "Love Story" and "Paper Moon", he also had great comic timing.
I have yet to see an actual tear...pathetic!
+mymagiclieswithin i'm not defending him,but men often don't easily cry. it's a combination of our physiology, and social conditioning. so, don't judge by lack of tears.
Agreed.
I mean, "Agreed, no tears!"
He abandoned his child for a woman. Also, everything else his other children said.Absolute Piece of shit.

I would Love to hear Joanna Moore's side of this!
EDD LANDERS is she alive? But she's an addict too
You can't
Think Ryan wanted a woman he could dominate and shame.
... All about HIM. Not funny at all ... Especially comparing "Love Story" to losing Farrah. He treated Farrah like trash.
I have never seen a more blatant, textbook example of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
There is something very weird about this whole thing!? Tatum was treated like a grown woman by him from a very early age it seems...she was like his partner not his daughter....and he still tries to blame her for their problems, even though she was a child...he can't take responsibility for his mistakes but puts it all on his kids....who's the adult here?!!!!.. he makes out he
is such a victim it's quite disgusting
wow, he just doesnt get it nor will he ever. He failed as a Dad. He has no boundaries with Tatum, he never saw her as a child that needed to be nurtured and taught the difference between right and wrong, he saw her as one of the guys. It is so sad. He loves her but in a very arms length kinda way, people who are deadly selfish tend to do that, they think 'I love you but dont hassle me'
He's drinking...
Joanna Moore was gorgeous & had this amazing, lilting southern accent. She was a wonderful actress &she had a wonderful voice. See her in andy griffith show where she sings.
Yes he was with Farrah when she passed away but she lived at her old house she didn't live with him
But the way he talked like he took care of her he didn't
Wow! He just can’t love her for who she is…..he is so critical of her. I have seen a side of Tatum that makes me realize how she is in constant turmoil trying to have his approval when he just refuses to be proud of her rising above her struggles.
The only compliments he makes towards Tatum is in reference to her looks. Absolute narcissist.
Well tbh that’s true of everyone I know.
I've suspected him a while of more. Its all right there, textbook. N he's nasty. Farrah was well advised never marry him!

Too much acting here. Some of what he says may be true, but he's playing the victim to the max....

Ask yourself a question if your daughter was up for an Oscar at 11 would you not fly from England and be with her on the night but he didnt. Tatum says when she teased him that she won the Oscar and he didnt he punched her in the face- i believe her
CJ_ Productions And he says that Tatum was there, in England, "taking the bobbie pins out of his wig". What a LIAR this used-to-be-pretty-boy" is!!
Period.
CJ_ Productions No doubt he was jealous.
Janice Metzger She's just like her father.
So sad, sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s lost...💔
He is very intelligent and insightful. He made mistakes - we all do. I sympathise with him. I don't think a narcissist would be as reflective and insightful as he is in this interview. Of course he may have been very narcissistic earlier in his life.
Forgive yourself?
Yes but he is an actor

Please read Tatum's book ''Paper Moon.''
Wow. i think Ryan just needs to own up to some of his mistakes. i think that is all his kids really want. He seems to be selfish. we have all made bad choices in our lives at times....it seems to me that "he" is living in a fantasy. He has done no wrong. Bulls**t. I believe his kids. "Love 'always' means having to say you're sorry".....
Yes Ryan is full of himself..I don't think it's all his fault. They had no Mother how do you think that affected them
It was ok, until he said that he is relieved not to see his sons and needs to do DNA test, then what he is waiting for, just get it done and find out, otherwise not to see own sons, that sounded kind of scary
I have sympathy for him, there is something underneath all that. I hope that he and his family heal 🙏 ❤️
Yeah I wonder where the original wound is- maybe with Ryan's mother, and Father?
He is projecting lots if stuff on Tatum. He needs help!!!
Yea Hollywood and self obsession w no sense of personal accountability and a just touch of blame shifting to children "underneath all that."
he raped his daughter for a very longtime good to see you have sympathy for the devil
Ryan O'Neal seems like a conflicted man that is clueless when it comes to being a father. Does he honestly think his children had to understand him?
Lady Jonquers , you are sad. You know more about his life without knowing him!
Lynn Rozakis we are all flawed, you are not in it so you do not know. You cannot judge, you are not in his shoes
Is there a book in how to be a father? I don't think he expected his first wife to be an alcoholic and end up in a mental hospital. And left with kids to raise. I don't think he was equipped. I know he had a temper. It's difficult to be raised without a Mother. They we're all dysfunctional....
Bettina bettina Agreed. Great perspective.
I see all the extremely negative comments about O'Neal, and realize I'm blinded by
the memories of my dad, a charming, mercurial, Irish American, like Ryan.
Good point.

Nope, no pass. After all this time and all the interviews he still blames others, his children, and takes little personal responsibility.
@@geupelboi ..no one understands where a child abuser was coming from??
She loved her Daddy, and another woman was coming into your life. It sounded like you pushed her away. Tatum loves you and you can't let go and love her for who she was/is. This all sounds about you and it isn't. Believe in your daughter and show her love.
narcisistas dont love, they use people as objects
Tatum tortured Farrah. Then Farrah got cancer. Ryan’s kids are monsters.
He talks about his son loving the new school, but devalues Tatum's opinion. Watch his face show his true feelings for his scapegoat daughter. It's at 5:35. Look at his face when he talks about her. Makes her look very puny to Piers. His face says "oh it's so hard for me!". Poor ME.
I agree with Ryan about stress causing cancer. There is a mind-body connection.
steveb1164 I researched that you are correct !
Absolutely..and no you don't only get Anal cancer just that way
Contaminated water is the most common cause of cancer and then air pollution or certain combination of medicines or chemicals.
If that was true I’d be ate up head to toe with it! Those kids did not cause Farrah to get cancer. My God That’s ridiculous!
If anything Lee gave her away.who sends their wife on dates with a guy whom you faught over a girl before,in the past.Bet Lee regrets it now.
Wow. Tatum and Ryan had some strange daughter-father dynamics. The way this family ended up is a perfect example of why you should never take drugs of any kind.
Wow, is he delusional. Those poor kids. Who is the parent and adult here? Bad karma resulting from his self over indulgence...

I think all except Griffin
Its much deeper than what we see or hear, i often wonder what Ryans upbringing was like with his own parents and joanna moores upbringing with her parents, it stems from there and then gets past on generation to the next generation until one decides to heal to break the chain
A hands on parent doesn't but his beautiful children in a boarding school 😢
And leave them to fend for themselves while he's shacking up with farrah
A revolting human being. Anjelica Huston wrote about how he physical abused her too.
Who was the adult in the father daughter relationship...???
