The responsibility she took immediately and the concern for her friends that she had in her car spoke volumes on her character. Terrible decision to drive but hopefully she learned a very hard lesson. She had seemingly instantaneous remorse
My brother was a passenger and killed by his drunk friend. I teared up when this girl took responsibility and said do whatever to me as long as my friends are alive. The person who killed my brother still hasn’t apologized to us or taken accountability. He shows no remorse like this young lady did. I hope this was truly a wake up call for her because losing a loved one sticks with us for our lifetime.
Well this deserves more likes. I'm sorry for your loss. I completely understand how you feel, but don't let that jerk take up any of your headspace. I could be doing anything else other than babysitting 3 drunk girls who would assume I was just a random NPC that spawned to help them after their accident. They wouldn't give a shit, and I don't care if they made the descision to drink too much and cause a wreck. People are afforded WAY too much, man.
Or it didn’t matter. They would investigate everything nonetheless. It’s better to tell the truth and say that they use fake ids. Now that they fucked up, they have no other choice
Kudos to that man and his wife, I think those girls are very lucky that things weren't worse. Edit: Please try to understand that other people may have a different opinion to yourself, this does not make you right, and the other person wrong or vice versa. IMO, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
While the girls in the car expressed a lot of concern about the others after the accident, they apparently didn't listen when warned about the threat they posed to the safety of themselves and others before.
If they just called instead of trying to insert themselves, the accident might not have happened. Citizens should not police citizens unless absolutely necessary.
Disgusting that they are using fake IDs to get drunk and then drive intoxicated. She could have wiped out an entire family and spent the rest of her life in prison. These entitled brats don’t learn until the worst happens to them personally.

I'm sorry but there's no way driving intoxicated with double the legal limit, putting 2 other people's lives in danger, and using fake ids is classified as being a good kid. Ok keyboard heroes, a few things: 1. A good person can make a terrible judgement call and regret it. She clearly feels an immense level of remorse in comparison to most people you see in videos like this who act like THEY are the victim. Judging by this short snippet of this young woman on what is probably the worst day of her life, I think she is at the very LEAST taking responsibility for her actions. 2. My father was a drunk driver and ended up a quadriplegic because of it. Luckily he didn’t kill or hurt anyone but himself. This incident shaped who I am today and I have absolutely no tolerance for drunk driving because I know how it destroys lives first hand. However, even with that first hand experience, I can still recognize that good people make mistakes and pay dearly for it. 3. Please tell the rest of us normies what it is like up on your high pedestal where you and those you love have never made a mistake? Clearly you feel pretty confident in your level of perfection and I’m just curious what it’s like.
@Dontcarebear33 love the world you live in where this is just classified as a simple mistake. Not an extremely gross negligence and disregard for others around you. A good person usually has some consideration for those around them. Putting others at extreme risk willingly is not being a good person. Your bar for a "good kid" is seriously messed up if a drunk driver with passengers that uses fake ids hits that criteria for you but to each their own. 😭
Rock solid Deputy, polite and professional. Kiera the most understanding and polite drunk I have seen in a long time. The driver despite being very emotional and intoxicated is incredibly cooperative. Hope they both learned a lesson and make better choices in the future.

I was a correctional deputy for years. I’ve seen the aftermath of impaired drivers as they sober up and began to realized the severity of what happened. The worst one was a man who drove into oncoming traffic at 65mph killing his wife and the four people in the other car he hit. He blew a .37 bac and it took him almost two days to clear sobering before he was booked. About 12 hours in the sobering cell, he realized what happened. He started asking about his wife. He didn’t know he hit another car because he was black out drunk. Once he was informed that his wife and the occupants of the other car were all dead, he began screaming and crying. By the time he was cleared by medical to be under 0.08 bac, he no longer had a voice. At his arraignment he informed the judge by writing a note stating that he didn’t want to live. He was already on suicide watch due to the jail’s policy that anyone brought for killing someone was automatically placed on watch as a preventive measure. When he got back from his arraignment, he found a way to strangle himself with the suicide smock in the 15 minutes between each security check. After he was found, we were able to revive him via CPR, but he was brain dead due to the lack of oxygen and was taken off life support after a day in ICU. I can still hear his screams while he was in sobering all these years later.

Indeed. Hopefully she has learnt a lesson and she and her friends will never get behind he wheel after drinking again or get in a car being driven by someone who has been drinking again. The officers were all amazing in how they behaved, absolute professionals through and through and as others have said major credit goes to the girl who was driving. She didn't try shirking responsibility in the slightest. Owned it completely, cooperated and was clearly deeply shocked and remorseful and clearly only cared that she may have hurt her friends. In fairness aside from Emily "being Emily" the other girls was also very good and cooperative and honest. I would say aside from the stupidity of their actions in drinking and driving they are a credit to their parents for how honest and willing to accept responsibility they are. Undoubtedly the driver is going to be in serious legal trouble and serious trouble with her parents and her friends and her friends parents but thats better than the alternative outcome that someone died or suffered serious injuries.

Your mate tries to stop you but you blow them off “nah I’m fine dude see ya tomorrow.” You hop in your car and end up crashing. A few cars witnesses the crash. More cars witness the aftermath. Cops and ambulance and firies come. Depending on the type of crash maybe the news come. Mobile phone footage of your crash ends up on the local 5pm news. Circulates Facebook. The bartender is gonna be filled with regret. All your bar friends. Real friends. Family. The people who saw you crash and saw the aftermath. The first responders. The people who got told by other people “hey I saw that crash on the expressway it was horrible.” People watching the news as the media film your friends and family laying flowers and grieving (coming here in Aus). Think about how many people that simple action of choosing to drive affects. For the rest of their life people will have a story about you, maybe it’s “I once let a customer driver and he died” or maybe it’s “dude I saw the aftermath I saw a person on fire it was traumatising as fuck” or maybe just “bro slow down remember that huge crash here a few years ago?” Plus your friend and family. Ok keyboard heroes, a few things:

I would just like to express how comforting the officer’s actions and compassion for the driver were! Additionally, it was so refreshing it was to see the driver’s concern for the other passengers! While she did make a poor decision to drink and drive, her genuine concern was hopefully, something the judge took into consideration!
The officer had zero compassion for the girl! 😂 He was being “nice” so he could get clear confessions from the girl and screw her even harder.
It was 2008 when I learned my childhood friend/teammate died in a drunk driving accident. It was right before we were scheduled to graduate high school. After watching SO many videos like this? Not only was it refreshing to see such patience by the responders, but to be honest? The girls were forthcoming and honest and not ranting off like banshees like some do. I pray they learned their lesson and know how blessed they are that none of them were killed or seriously injured. AND, Bless the guy who helped out too! ;)
These officers did a great job handling these young ladies. The driver did a good job by being very cooperative and truthful. Thank goodness, nobody was hurt and they think twice before getting behind the wheel drunk.
The title or description of this incident calls it a "tragedy", which only cheapens true tragedy. It was an ugly, scary incident for these young ladies, vut was it a tragic?

In 1994, my best friend left a party like a bat out of hell and didn't know there was a 90-degree curve up ahead and hit a tree going about 100mph and blew up and burned alive in the car after being pinned when it rolled over. 24 years old. Know where you're driving and don't drink.

Our actions can have more of an effect than we think.
Imagine you’re at the pub having a few drinks, chatting with the regulars there you’ve made “friends” with. The bar tenders. Your other mates are there too. You decide to leave and say bye to everyone. A bar tender says please don’t drive we will call taxi. Your mate tries to stop you but you blow them off “nah I’m fine dude see ya tomorrow.”
You hop in your car and end up crashing.
Sorry for the ramble but your story got me thinking about how our action can be the way someone remembers you: will you be remember as the dude who burned alive in his vehicle after drink driving?

@fredfinger7092 I gave a random stranger who was a friend of a friend of I guess another friend at a pool party, CPR for over 45 mins until EMS got there. I never did CPR a day in my life and it was one of most physically challenging things I've ever done bc its a lot of work, especially for that long.
