Finally, someone who actually commits to covering an under-appreciated song! Not just that, but actually covering it with every last note - guitar leads and solos as well! Very well done!
Thank you!! And yeah, agree, it's also my favorite on that album! Glad you saw them! I haven't seen them live yet (I live in Venezuela, they haven't come)
Sometimes I get a better impression of a song when watching guitar cover videos, the idea behind the composition etc. this is such a video .... thx man!!!... again .... keep up the great work!!!!
DupreeGuitar that happens to me too! And in this case, it happened when I learned it (by ear cuz I didn't find anything on it). I loved the song already, but when I learned how to play it and the details of its parts, I started loving it a lot more!
Geronimo Egea I will be passing your channel on to a friend who picked up the album recently and hasn't stopped singing it's praises so I know will love your content too 🤘🙏😁
10/10 cover; video and Audio quality, edits and camera angles and tone! I really enjoyed this cover mate and I will definitely be using it to learn the song from you and I will definitely be crediting you in my video. Cheers mate!
I'm glad to hear that! (great minds think alike, and apparently like the same songs, lol) Serak really had that same dark atmosphere that I loved so much about "The Great Cold Distance" and there are also some killer riffs in this song! It strikes me that Katatonia have a somewhat unconventional way of writing riffs with unexpected chord changes and fingerings and sometimes the length of the riffs themselves. Did you learn this song by ear? Even more impressive if you did.
TornFromShelter yeah, all by ear. I didn't find any tabs or anything for it, but anyway I don't usually trust internet tabs (most of them stuck). I trust more on my own ears haha
I totally agree with you that online tabs tend to be inaccurate, so I rely on learning things by ear as well. But there's a lot of things going on in the soundscape of Katatonia and it's sometimes hard to pinpoint what they're playing, especially when they play full chords on all six strings with distortion, you know.. those sad and dissonant sounding chords that adds the gloomy flavour to their music. ;)
TornFromShelter yeah! It can be really hard. I actually don't really know if I got it 100% perfect like the way they play it (maybe I did, dunno), but that's as close as my ears got me haha
Hey bro, I make videos for bands. Here is the one I created for katatonia ." Shifts" hope u enjoy. Watch "Katatonia - Shifts" on TH-cam th-cam.com/video/oXCWx37cetA/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely awesome🤘 You should check out the band Alter Bridge and also Projected. Any record by Alter Bridge is fantastic, and Human by Projected is a fantastic record. Keep up the awesome videos🤘🤘
Geronimo Egea That's so cool that you met Myles, he seems like an awesome guy. And definitely check out Projected, the drummer for Alter Bridge (Scott Philips) is also the drummer for Projected🤘
Alex Duque gracias!!!
Thank you! I don't know if you mean "what tunning it is" (drop A#, it's in the description) o "why use that tunning?", and well I guess you would have to ask Katatonia hahaha
One of the best covers on youtube, and possibly my favorite Katatonia song.
Thank you!!! It's one of my favorites too without a doubt!
Finally, someone who actually commits to covering an under-appreciated song!
Not just that, but actually covering it with every last note - guitar leads and solos as well!
Very well done!
Thank you!!
Katatonia pick slides are an instrument within themselves. Great playing!
jm1072 yeah I agree! I actually think they record tracks only for the pick slides and even overdub them! And thank you!
You're welcome! and however they do it rules!
Top class cover. Best song on the album in my opinion. Just seen then in Manchester, wish they had played this.
Thank you!! And yeah, agree, it's also my favorite on that album! Glad you saw them! I haven't seen them live yet (I live in Venezuela, they haven't come)

For me at the moment Fall of Hearts is Katatonia's best album to date. Wonderful cover. Thank you!
Ian Thomas I agree! I know purists maybe think that's nuts, but it's just so good it's unbelievable!
Geronimo Egea I will be passing your channel on to a friend who picked up the album recently and hasn't stopped singing it's praises so I know will love your content too 🤘🙏😁
Ian Thomas thanks man! Cheers

Kerry King is close too but you instantly reminded me of Michael, the resemblance is uncanny :D
Cheers mate!
Best song on the album in my opinion. Great cover! Two thumbs up!
Thank you! It's also my favorite one on the album!

Gracias bro!
Bro, you're a very good guitarist. This one is very difficult!!!keep it up!!!

Gracias!
Hubieras sonado el harmonico artifical en 5:13

Awesome!! Drop???
Thanks! Drop A#
great cover dude, you're awesome! tell me why this tuning ?
Thank you! I don't know if you mean "what tunning it is" (drop A#, it's in the description) o "why use that tunning?", and well I guess you would have to ask Katatonia hahaha
@@GeronimoEgea tks for the answer ! was 'why' even. The curiosity about why. So I will ask them hahahah
i wanted to cover this song so bad, but tuning to drop A# with regular strings would sound terrible
Yeah, I think I was using 13s or maybe even 14s on that guitar back then. Even the 3rd string was wound
You got tabs??
I don't, sorry! I didn't use any
@@GeronimoEgea didn’t use tabs, I only dream of such freedoms… I wanna learn this song bad tho so I guess I’ll just have to study every frame lmao
@@Schluuma hahahaha good one!
@Schluuma did you ever find or make a tab for this? I've been looking too and it just doesn't exist. Absolutely my favorite so g by them.
great job mate! i am waiting for more ;-). Subbed!
Thank you!! Cheers!
