I think you probably want "legend" ;) Means pretty much the same thing as "myth" most of the time, but saying someone's a legend can mean they're really well-known or highly skilled, whereas as saying someone's a myth usually means you think they don't exist! P.S. No disrespect intended at all, I was an ESL teacher in a previous life and just wanted to make that note.

Agree. The new guy is doing a wonderful job, but Liljekvest was a very underrated drummer, and I was heartbroken when he Had To (Leave).
