    just put my cobra on, took 15-20 mins for the muffler,etc.... but it took 1.5 hours to get the butt cover/heat shield on...ended up widening the slots for it to finally go on- Hey Cobra, you might want to address this issue...........BTW- I love the new exhaust, next is intake,cobra powerpro and engine guards

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know after I struggled with that, someone told me to put that stupid cover on first, then to put the slip on on . Well I have never taken that cover off again lol. I also spray a little lubricant under the slip on joint so it's easier to take off.

    Your bike looks like the 2014 VStar. I have the same. I've been thinking of changing up my exhaust to something like the cobra slip on or go for the Vance & Hines Pro exhaust which will be way more expensive. I find with the stock exhaust on the bike sounds kind of tinny so I would like to get more louder and deeper and throatier sound for it and a bit more horsepower. I see that you also have changed up your air-intake. I was looking at the same one. So after you added the cobra slip on did you have to remap the engine to get it tuned in right?

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Late reply , as my YT app never pushed this comment to me . Sorry about that.
      I had the intake first with the baffle drilled. The bike ran like crap. I also had the o2 bypassed. It just ran horrible. Then I found out about Ivans flash and I went down to see about it. I ended up doing it , and it was n night and day . The bike was so smooth after I couldn't believe it.
      So when I added this slip on , then I added a cobra fi2000 fuel tuner, but would only add a little fuel to the top end. .5 or so . Some run the intake and exhaust with out the tuner too. just with the eco flash from Ivan.

    this sounds really good! I'm thinking of upgrading mine into the same way you did. but I have a question regarding the ivan ECU flash and the fi2000 .I know this is already old 6years ago but I'm still new on this type of upgrade that's why I'm still looking around and I found on your upgrade that you installed them both, since I've seen others only prefer either one of those Ivan ECU flash/ power comander or just the fi2000 alone. does it recommend to have it both? sorry for asking I'm just trying to look at something that will work without going back

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I needed to add just a little fuel to the top end wide open throttle .. that's where thr fi2000 helped. Not needed in mid range or down low. Riding and adjusting I could feel the difference haha. I've since sold the cobra. Just too loud. Back to stock exhaust n using the fi2000 with very little fuel added at top end. Probably not even needed.

    I love your videos man! I know this is an older vid but I have a question. I have a 2015 deluxe and I'm getting an exhaust this summer. Do you still have the cobra slip on installed? That seems to be the easiest and most economical route to take but I'm worried it might be too quiet for my tastes. I like loud but not obnoxious with a deeper tone. I know the videos don't do them justice. Do you still like it? How loud is it compared to drilled out stock? I'm torn between the slip on or the newer cobra 2 into 1 pro system or V&H. Thanks and ride safe!

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Steve thanks for the awesome kind words. I do still have the cobra on . showing some rust under the chrome end cap. I hear they do that. I did put a smart partz baffle in it to shut it up a bit on the highway at 70+. But without that baffle, and just the stock baffle, oh yeah it will be loud enough. I def do think it would be hehe. I don't think you would have any issue with not enough noise lol.
      Compared to stock drilled, it is throatier. It has more deep tone, and just screams if I get on it. You can see some more test video footage of it, after this video.
      Thanks for watching
      Bruce.

      @@dbest1aVlogs thanks for the reply! It's great that you have a lot of "how to" vids on the channel. That will help someone like me save some money. I think I am going with the cobra slip on. That seems to be the most common exhaust mod and most economical and easy for DIY. I have the bully fuel commander from gman industries and I drilled my airbox. Exhaust is the next step. Thanks again!

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Personally the exhaust is nice , but the intake was the real eye opener. The intake actually over shadows the exhaust at wot lol. These bikes suck in air. I'd probably look for a better intake , then save the exhaust for last. Or catch a deal on the wiki or forum from someone selling their pipe at a steal. I got both my intake and exhaust off of someone on the forum. At a steal too.
      If you drilled the baffle it will do in the mean times, you will love the intake upgrade.

    • @Steve61084
      @Steve61084 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dbest1aVlogs do you have the cobra intake or the kuryakyn? Those seem to be the 2 most popular ones for this bike. Also I've seen that you had your ECU flashed. Is that a must? Like I said I have a fuel commander and I also have the O2 sensor bypass. Thanks again!

    Appreciate all your advice. I have a 2015 se new in late 2016. How are you finding the shinko tires? I just put one on the rear and handling is really good. Will it last? I have 27000 k. On my bike and this is the Third set of tires. Nice bullet proof bike except rear tire wear.

      @dbest1aVlogs  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for the kind words.
      The shinko rear lasted 6 to 7k.
      I replaced it with a commander 2, but that's a short height tire and I don't like that part about it. 180/65 vs 170/70.. gonna try a 200/60 or whatever size it was I saw..
      The front shinko is still kicking , has about 8 to 9k on it .. Still performs darn good. I highly recommend the shinko front.

    Hi Dbest1a Vlogs , I'm interested in these 1300 v stars and considering buying one. I currently ride a Yamaha v star 1100 and I enjoy it but I just need a bike with a little bit more guts, plus I like the luggage bags and the wind fairing on this 1300. Are you very happy with this bike? or could you see yourself wanting a bigger engine further down the line. The only reason I'm asking is because I want my next bike purchase to be the bike I ride for a long time and don't get tired of it.

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      sean downs I have heard some talk about the differences of the 1300 and the 1100. Most say the power is more on the 1300, and the gearing is different. I can't honestly comment more due to not having ever rode a 1100.
      Storage : the storage of the deluxe is nice, the bags are a bit bigger than those on the touring, but to combat this most will add a rear top trunk or rear bag. More room to put my junk lol.
      Fairing: the fairing works pretty well, and actually has a design that takes a bit to grow on you, still I prefer it over the Victory cross country fairing - hence why I never bought one of those. See test ride section for those videos.
      It could use : a 6th gear, most don't feel so, but at 75mph riding down south on the interstate I felt it did. Most feel it doesn't, which I can agree of your on the backroads. There it's pretty much at home, but the highways can be a little busy for the 1300 with no 6th gear.
      Lowers : yes wind deflectors, the buffeting that will come from under the fairing will drive u nuts. One will Def need fork lowers. I made my own set with some plexi and metal n instructions found on google.
      See my Facebook page
      Www.facebook.com/dbest1a
      Overall I am happy with the bike.. see my vstar 1300 review videos 2 of them. I don't have many of much complaints .
      At this point I just spend most my time doing the scheduled maintenance to the bike, and enjoying putting miles on it.

      thanks so much for the awesome reply man, I live in Australia and I went to a Yamaha dealership today to enquire about this bike and unfortunately they wont be bringing it to Australia, their isn't a high enough demand for the most of the Yamaha cruiser range in Australia so they're only selling the vstar 650, the Yamaha bolt, Yamaha stryker and the 1300 without the fairing and bags at moST dealerships. its a shame cause I love this 1300 deluxe you have. I think im just going to order a 1300 and I will have to order myself some nice custom hardbags for it. thanks so much for your help!

    • @dbest1aVlogs
      @dbest1aVlogs  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sean downs You can get bags, and even get the deluxe bags... just shipping would have to be figured out as your in Australia. There are tons of aftermarket fairings online that can be purchase, you can even find the deluxe fairing online too. I don't know if there is a used market there, but you could also find a lightly used one and save some on the price, then outfit it.
