    I bought one of these in February 2023 and am very happy with it. It was the only 9 volt powerbank that I had managed to find on the market after hours of searching over a couple of years. I was using USB powerbanks with small 5 V to 9 V step-up transformers and DC power leads that I soldered myself because I couldn't find a 9 V powerbank. The Harley Benton unit was simpler and much more robust than that setup. The additional 9/12/15/18 V selectable voltage available at output 9 is also very useful for other gear besides effect pedals.
    My unit works great, but there is one thing to watch out for: I just tried to use mine after putting it away nearly fully charged 3-4 months ago and it was completely flat, so I suspect that it may have quite a fast self-discharge. In future I am going to charge mine once a month or so whether I use it or not, just to make sure that it does not self-discharge to too low a level. Running a battery or a powerbank (which is just a box of batteries) down to totally flat is generally not good for the life expectancy of any type of battery.

    Absolutely love mine. Solves all my busking power issues and my setup changes quite a bit depending on solo or with others.
    I am powering spdx pro, Rc 600 Small amp and a FS-7.
    My only complaint was even though they send a ton of cables it really doesn't cover me. Different barrel sizes and reverse polarity for my SPDX and my Spark guitar amp. It was a dissapointment to have to get more cables and do enough research to confim barrel sizes, voltage and polarity for different devices. Fortunately I discovered Birdcords. These guys are top notch and are really focused on musicians and all of our gadgets for connection solutions.
    It would be nice if Harley benton supplied a few extra barrel sizes to cover a broader range of device options.
    Other than that, this thing is a work horse. Love your board setup and it was because of this video that I bought one. Thanks,.

    Hi John Paul, I see you're using the power bank with the RC600.
    Specs on RC600 ask for 1.2 A (with phantom power), 1.1 A (without phantom power). Your bank says it delivers 500ma.
    Are you having any power issues with the RC600? I play couple of unpowered gigs each month and would love to use the RC600.
    Your videos are super helpful. Thank you

      Hello. I’ve not had a single problem with it with this power bank. I do not use fantompower with it at all and it has never cut out and it has been fine. The power bank runs the RC 600 and the TC helicon voice live play acoustic.
      I could probably get five to six hours out of one charge.

    Nice John Paul, I'm looking out for a portable power supply for my tiny pedalboard, this has a lot of power though looks a wee bit chunky for me. I used to have that lekato wireless, I found that it sucked a lot of the tone out compared to a lead so I'd recommend using an EQ pedal to boost where necessary to overcome the tone loss...my lekato wireless unfortunately stopped working after a few months.

I would like to power the rc600, a 9v 100ma compressor, a 9v 100ma tuner and a controller that requires 9v 500ma (which I normally power separately because it can have interference if powered by other pedals). Is this powerbank suitable for all these pedals? I would like to achieve a result like yours

    Looks awesome. Donyou think it could power a Hotone Ampero One, Joyo Compressor, Full Tone drive, and Joyo AC Tone without any hum from the pedals? Im also not 100% knowledgeable on power and outputs and what not, so my other question is, can i use ports that arent 500mah to power 500mah pedals? Does it send required ampage to power those pedals?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You need to check the mAh for each pedal. If it’s under 9v 500mA then you are fine.
      If it’s over 500mA then you can get splitters to plug into two of the outlets of the power supply to combine the power to produce 1000mA.

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That depends, and you need to be really careful with the voltage.
      You need to check whether the amp has the right connection, or you might need to buy a separate specialised cable.
      But unless the amp is 500 mA or less than I don’t think he will be able to .

    I need help on this please... I was trying to go outdoor and play a little on my own for fun and sun. But I barely know anything on electronic.
    I just talk with a guy in a music store section and he said that I shouldn't be using a powerbank for the pedals as there is degradation and the pedals need a constant flow that is not regular on powerbanks. If you play plug into an outlet it comparing... it would have much better quality... I've seen some comparation videos between 9v and outlets here on youtube and you can actually notice I guess.
    But anyway... he then refer to accumulators that help to ensure the distribution of power i guess? He also said using powerbanks could cause static noise specially in certain pedals like distortion or compressors since they use more something...
    So my question is... This Harley Benton has these problems? Have you tried to supply power through a power bank to compare with this Benton powersupply/powerbank?

    •  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      So i bought this.
      I think its awesome although from time to time i notice some issues with the usb to charge the phone, either the cable is not fitting properly or it makes some static for some random reason, maybe my cables were touching each other(?) and i ended up disconnecting the phone charger. Also it wont fit in the spaceship pedalboard underneat slots cause its too bulky which is disappointment specially both being Harley benton. And finally I have a multi effect pedal that requires 1.2A and for what I've seen this only supports 500 mA output ?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey 👋
      So here’s the thing. What it needs is based on what you are doing with it.
      The draw is based on the maximum possible output, and I’m sure they say it needs more just in case. So imagine using the RC-600 with 2 mics on phantom power at full volume. Yeah it’s gonna need a lot more power.
      I’m using 1x 500ma and it’s fine but that’s because I’m not using phantom and I’m not driving past 50% of the volume at gigs. I’m surprised as well.
      If I ever get that issue then yes I could use a doubler cable and get 2x 500 for it but it’s chugging along nicely.

      So.. this is the thing. The RC-600 does indeed say 1.2A with no phantom power.. but I’m not using phantom power. Now when a circuit is too low the unit will just switch off or reboot (or short out.. but that’s a bad scenario).
      In regards to manufacturers, they put what it needs at the top end and are very conservative with their numbers. You need to find out what is the minimum the unit will run on.
      I have been using this battery since the video came out with the RC-600 and so far.. it’s performed flawlessly!

    I see that there’s very little clearance on top of the power supply on your board. The power button of the supply seems to be on top. How do you turn it on with so little clearance?

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right. I originally used 3M (hard Velcro) to tape it to the board but then there was zero clearance. There is JUST enough room for me to push the button. The alternative I have been considering is to zip tie it upside down and press the button from underneath the pedalboard as I get it out of the bag. If the switch was on the side it would be perfect. 👌

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK

      It’s the Large.
      With rubber spacers, you can make it a bit wider and put the RC-600 on the bottom if you prefer.

      @@JohnPaulMusicUK I've done exactly this (i.e. zip tieing upside down) and there is just enough space to see and press the power button + also see the charge indicators so all good (would post a photo if you could in YT comments!) - glad I didn't add the 3M stuff first!
      BTW thanks for all the great videos (in particular related to the RC-600) they've really helped me get up-to-speed as quickly as possible moving away from my RC-30 setup!

    Be wary tho. This seemed like a good product BUT - we performed a day of playing in four outside venues for a town thinking this was the perfect power solution. It failed on us three times! We're powering: Boss RC-600, thx Bass 9, Boss SY-300 and an AKG perception microphone receiver (12v). So only 4 of the 10 outputs available. We use quite complex assigns on the looper and my theory is, it pulled sudden requests for energy when kicking in certain routines. The Power Pack shut down and restarted, killing our music stone dead, mid song multiple times. Very embarrasing and apologising while the systems rebooted, left looking very unprofessional. I will probably keep it to power the 12v item by itself but other than that - I don't trust it.

    • @JohnPaulMusicUK
      @JohnPaulMusicUK  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s very interesting.
      Have you ever tried using a double cable to put 2x 500mA to get 1A out of it? Just curious. My assigns are pretty basic and it hasn’t failed on me yet including 2hr live stream, 2hr set in a field and 40mins on a stage.

    • @jazzient
      @jazzient ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JohnPaulMusicUK I haven't tried that, no. Not being very clever I didn't realise having two of the outputs into one would increase the ampage. I'll give it a try, thanks.

      @jazzient ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JohnPaulMusicUK Good news and thanks for the suggestion - doubling up the outputs seems to work better. I did try a test with powering a handsonic drum as well but this went too far and failed. So the moral is try it out first to make sure it can power everything you need.
