Thanks for this informative video! Have a couple questions (1) we don't have Google Tag Manager set up at all when we use this plugin right? And (b) is what you showed the easiest way to track google ads conversion purchases?
Hi - correct you are not using Google Tag Manager for this plugin. If you do that's fine it won't interfere but this is not something you need GTM for to do - just the plugin listed in the video. In my opinion for a woocommerce site this is the easiest set up to track google ads conversion purchases with net or grand total values - only takes a few minutes to set up and once it's done you're all set.
Actually I want to ask if you can tell us how to add Begin Checkout and Add to Cart conversion tracking just like you added Purchase conversion. Sir please do reply
Thank you! Can you maybe show how to troubleshoot and check conversions in Tag Assistant without actually buying stuff? That's the first time I'm doing that on an e-commerce shop and I don't want to just casually buy stuff via debug mode by mistake ;)
If you have an order confirmation URL you could go to that and see if the event fires… really the best and only way I know of is to do an actual live checkout. Then I just refund / cancel the order… the URL would work but not if each order has a unique URL - if you sell multiple products… Obviously all the other events, product view, add to cart etc you can test without making a purchase.
Hi! Thank you and excelent video, I have the doubt about what's the conversion trigger in tag manager, all page views? If I do that wouldn't make a conversion every website visitor?
You are correct, that would make every page view a conversion, you do not want to do that. You'll need to set up a specific trigger. In this video the Woo Commerce plugin will do all of this for you. I have other videos on other conversions and how to set them up in Google Tag Manager... It just depends on what you are trying to track - A sale, a button click, a lead form, etc.
AFTER FOLLOWING THIS TUTORIAL IN 2024, ARE YOU STILL GETTING ERRORS? THIS MIGHT HELP: After setting this up exactly as you suggested, my Google Ads account spat out configuration errors, conversion tracking misconfigured errors etc etc. So I was messing around endlessly trying to find a solution. I shouldn't have worried. Google Ads will flag up errors until the PURCHASE conversion action is actually triggered. In other words, if a customer hasn't yet clicked on your ad AND gone to your site AND purchased a product, the misconfiguration errors in Google Ads will remain. Just relax and be patient. Don't meddle until you're certain that a customer has completed this process and the conversion still hasn't successfully logged. Thank you again for the useful tutorial.
Thanks so much! Question: I have my Woocommerce shop on another website than the one that I want to attract traffic to. Can I still do a google ads campaigin and set up a conversion tracker?
I believe so, you'll have to set up the conversion tracking on that website though, if you can do that then you'll just drive traffic to that URL with google ads and you should be good to go.
Yes, that is the whole point and super important to gauge campaign efficiency and effectiveness :). We want to track the transaction value, especially if it varies!
Hi sir can i track which all products has purchased through my ads , any way to seperate the sales orgaic and paid, i need to show to my client, thats why
Yes, Google ads will only show conversions attributed to your paid campaign. If your Google ads shows 10 sales, and your website shows 15 - you know 10 came from your paid ads and 5 came organically / elsewhere. The most important thing is to not get caught up trying to make these systems report everything the same way. Google analytics may categorize sales one way, Google ads another, the website yet another way. So when looking at the reports keep that in mind. Google ads may say a sale came from them and the website might categorize it organically. I always go with the paid platform for this info though as the user has to interact with an ad for the system to give credit. Hope this helps!
I did this and the tag that I now see is named differently that yours. It is "Google Ads Remarketing Tag" not "Google Ads Conversion Tracking" like yours. I cannot test if it works with a purchase (unrelated reasons). It shows blue not green in the tag assistant and only shows the conversion ID and not the label when I click on it. Is it the tag the correctt one?
Thank you very much for this tutorial. It was just what I needed. I can't believe you've only got three thumbs up! You didn't mention about adding to the Google Analytics UA property ID and Google Analytics 4 measurement ID fields. Is that worth doing too?
Thanks David - glad you got some value out of it. Regarding GA - If you want data to flow into that platform than yes I would add that information. When I run campaigns, I always look directly into the platform running the ads for conversion information / attribution. I find that each platform, (Google ads, Google Analytics, other analytic platforms) typically all show different data for the same campaign. This is because each platform has its own attribution model, so what Google Ads considers a conversion from the campaign might be classified differently in google analytics. This usually causes paralysis by analysis and more questions than answers - so I think it's best to look at the platform where the money is being spent and take your cues from there.
Thanks for this video! You helped me a lot!
Glad it helped!

You can mark those actions in Google tag manager. Watch my video on how to add conversion events to button clicks! Thanks for your comment.

Also measures values of those purchases?

is there any possible way to get the leads informations, such as which product they have purchased like exact informations?
