In this video I show you how to edit a keyword list in excel to add [brackets] and "quotes" around keywords in bulk so you can utilize keyword match types in your negative keyword lists.
If you add keywords as broad match to negative keyword lists - then you black list every search that contains that keyword.
You may want to show searches for certain keywords used in a specific context.
In this case, you'll want to utilize match types with your negative keywords but Google doesn't make it easy to apply match types to negative keywords. It has to be done 1 by 1. If you're loading a list with thousands of keywords this can be a daunting task.
I show you how to take care of this using excel in a few seconds.
You'll learn how to add [brackets] to keywords in bulk which utilizes exact match as well as "quotes" which utilizes phrase match.
For example - if you want to show up for "gold watches for sale near me" but not just the word "gold" which is super broad - you can blacklist [gold] as an exact match which will block those searches, but not the longer tail searches.
Another example is to utilize phrase match for keywords that you know you do not want to show up for in any search. Something like a location that is irrelevant to you - say "Albany" - any search in your campaign that contains that is irrelevant - so you can block all searches using "Albany" with phrase match.
