Yeah, that's right. Duff had other projects at the time. Although he did not contribute by playing on this album, he did contribute in another way - this very song (Beggars and Hangers On) was co-written by Duff.
The first Slash´s Snakepit album was recorded by the same lineup of this video: Slash - Guitar Eric Dover - Vocals Matt Sorum - Drums Mike Inez - Bass Gilby Clark - Guitar But, the band that Slash bring on tour for that album had James Lomenzo on bass (now he´s playing with Megadeth) and a drummer which I can´t remember his name right now. Cheers
The album from which this song was taken had Gilby Clarke on rhythm guitar, and Matt Sorum on drums, both of which are former GnR members. Mike Inez from Alice in Chains was on bass guitar.
Buy one album for a penny... GET 12 FREE! That's how I first bought this album... Don't remember liking it too much back then but I think I was still bummin over lack of Axl. This song and vid are RAAAAAD!!! K.I.B.
I saw this band at the W-ton Civic they were brill, I got Slash and Eric's autographs, they were they for well over 30mins signing for the fans! Eric even got cornered by some german girls and couldn't get away!! lol
Slash is great as alaways. I think Matt did his best job on this album since UYI. And Mike Clink is excellent at making a great sound from twin guitars like GN'R, Megadeth's Rust In Peace, and this album.
in the part that I mentioned, on Live Era, there is only one vocal at the time, so it has to be slash, because it is the same voice as on the riot show before Axl joins him
It should be noted that Duff Mckagan had a hand in this as well. He has writing credits on the album for this song. I read people mentiong Eric b/f as a replacement for Scott and at first I thought, umm maybe. But after watching a few Snakepit videos I forgot just how good this guy is. I thought though his lyrics were a little odd at times but hey who knows. I wonder if he's on tour with Alice this year?
estaba en la secundaria cuando salio este disco!! whow! que recuerdos, realmente me gustaba este grupo.. me gusto mas el siguiente disco.. creo fue mejor
God this was amazing..this shits on anything Slash has done with VR, cant believe people say Eric cant sing! And Slash just rocked back then..not sure he does now?
Wikipedia is not a credible source. Matt Sorum was with GNR and during their hiatus that started early 95 he and slash got together with Gilby and Alice in Chains bassist and made this record. The drummer and Bassist didn't tour though.
Dont forget that Slash left GnR cause Steven and Izzy left too.. So "its not the same without Slash" BECAUSE of the departure of Adler and Stradlin. They were a significant part of GnR too.
izzy sings the rest of the song, but if you look at the footage from the riot show performance of Dust N' Bones, you see slash at that part step up to the mike and sing the "get out on your own, and you, take all that you own, and you forget about your home, and then your DUST FUCKIN' BONES!" part. only in the riot show, axl joins slash in the middle of that part, while in Live Era, slash does the whole thing he is also the person who says "hey fuckers, suck on guns n fuckin roses" in GNR lies
@plokplokersable I've read Slash's Autobiography, he says he formed Snakepit because he missed his inspiration and just playing music. He didn't want Snakepit to be a side project, but gave both the bands his all. But you can't talk shit about Axl, 'Cause you don't know him bro. No offence. But it's not like it was rejected, but at a time when GN'R wasn't all that commited to showing up at rehearsal, Someone called Slash and told him "Never quit man". He wrote it all with help from Izzy.
yup...only weiland left..but VR is still exist..they r on a quest to find new vocalist..let juz hope the new guy will hv the same quality n great like eric dover.
eric dover has a great voice. awesome singer. he came to brazil with gilby clarke's band in 2007. they played outside of mtv brasil's building to promote the show. can see here: watch?v=1uhhvxjKNeY
Because this is a different band, the bassist is that guy from Alice In Chains, so thats half a band different and another guitar missing. I would love to see this guy singing with them, but i don't think he will, they said recently that they're looking for a BIG name, not exactly this guy. I would vote Chris Cronell
this song is awesome
Great singer great band great song.
Perfect vocals, great guitar rifts. Slash rocks!!
as a 32 year old... this is classic cool but will always miss the original gnfr!!
Still my favorite Slash line-up.

this is the best guitar intro I've ever heard
Love It good old Rock N Roll
OMFG the last 30 seconds of the song is fucking amazing!! gives me the chills everytime i hear it
I love this song. I love Matt Sorum's drumming for this song it's a good match
Eric Dover making my arm hairs stand at attention all these years later in 2021.
toda banda q o slash passa ele deixa uma marca
Yeah, that's right. Duff had other projects at the time. Although he did not contribute by playing on this album, he did contribute in another way - this very song (Beggars and Hangers On) was co-written by Duff.
That is Matt Sorum. He was the drummer on It's Five O'Clock Somewhere.
The first Slash´s Snakepit album was recorded by the same lineup of this video:
Slash - Guitar
Eric Dover - Vocals
Matt Sorum - Drums
Mike Inez - Bass

Great song, amazing band.
Damn, at first sight, I was sure that the singer was Mark Whalberg from Rock Start movie :-p
They rock!
Great band, Great songs.. VR SUX!!!
Tichy was the drummer for the tour, M. Sorum did the drums on the record, and on this video, as you can see.
man, why i didnt notice this band in that time? is fking... EPIC¡¡¡
I love this, I love GnR and I love Velvet Revolver. Theyre different. No need to say one sucks if you like the other. I love em all!
I saw this band at the W-ton Civic they were brill, I got Slash and Eric's autographs, they were they for well over 30mins signing for the fans! Eric even got cornered by some german girls and couldn't get away!! lol
awesome no less no more
Hey Eric it has been a long time I love this song Hope to hear from you soon Ca
Slash is great as alaways. I think Matt did his best job on this album since UYI. And Mike Clink is excellent at making a great sound from twin guitars like GN'R, Megadeth's Rust In Peace, and this album.
the opening riff is similar to a riff in zakk wylde´s pride and glory song: losing your mind!!! you just got to love those heavy riffs!!!
good tune
in the part that I mentioned, on Live Era, there is only one vocal at the time, so it has to be slash, because it is the same voice as on the riot show before Axl joins him
Such a good fucking song!
It should be noted that Duff Mckagan had a hand in this as well. He has writing credits on the album for this song.

I wonder if he's on tour with Alice this year?
@Jappib sometimes bands shorten songs for their music videos... idky.
TOTALLY AGREE with you m8
Very Underated album
Myles Kennedy singing this song makes it even better! such a badass riff by the God that is Slash
should be. he's a great singer.
That's what I said, they started Slash's Snakepit in 95. 94' was Slash's Blues ball era. Matt Sorum was only on the record and didn't tour.
Slash fuckin' rocks!!!!
Hey- it's John Corabi, former lead singer for Motley Crue for all of five minutes.
where is the intro??
thats the best part of the song
dude this singer kicks some serious ass
hell ye....he looks and sounds like him lol
@theacag it is the ceramic slide he was using. how cool is that? ;-)
Awesome tune. Where is Eric Dover singing now?
Fuck... I REALLY need to take a ride to my record shop. So much I need to get!
Sorry, I meant that i heard somewhere Gilby played rhythm for them, i cant see him in the vid though
That´s right.
estaba en la secundaria cuando salio este disco!! whow! que recuerdos, realmente me gustaba este grupo.. me gusto mas el siguiente disco.. creo fue mejor
i like this more then alot of gnr's songs this would be one of the top ones. oh and this singer is better then axl
God this was amazing..this shits on anything Slash has done with VR, cant believe people say Eric cant sing! And Slash just rocked back then..not sure he does now?
Is that Gilby Clarke and Matt Sorum I see????
actually, if you listen to the Live Era version of Dust N' Bones, that's slash singing at the breakdown (get out on your own, etc)
yep, and i think its gilby clarke on rythm guitar?
good idea
@JeevesMorris1 Jeff Keith, and yes he does....
the vocals is Cool!
velvet Is Shed!
Wikipedia is not a credible source.
Matt Sorum was with GNR and during their hiatus that started early 95 he and slash got together with Gilby and Alice in Chains bassist and made this record. The drummer and Bassist didn't tour though.
It's Steven Tyler....lord have mercy ! Great song Slash!!!!!

i just found about this band gosh these guys rock this is better than velvet revolver
whats Eric doing now, does anyone know
straight up kick you in the nuts rock n roll
Where the F is the intro of the song??
Is that Mike Inez on bass?
Dont forget that Slash left GnR cause Steven and Izzy left too.. So "its not the same without Slash" BECAUSE of the departure of Adler and Stradlin. They were a significant part of GnR too.
Is intro played with slide?
izzy sings the rest of the song, but if you look at the footage from the riot show performance of Dust N' Bones, you see slash at that part step up to the mike and sing the "get out on your own, and you, take all that you own, and you forget about your home, and then your DUST FUCKIN' BONES!" part. only in the riot show, axl joins slash in the middle of that part, while in Live Era, slash does the whole thing
he is also the person who says "hey fuckers, suck on guns n fuckin roses" in GNR lies
this is great BUT i cant even imagine how good it would be with axl on vocals and the rest of gnr too
i think he is now vr's new singer....not totally sure tho but it would be wicked!
Do you know why Duff didn't take part in this project?
he remind me a bit of the singer from aerosmith....whats his name? steve taylor o something like that....
at 1:30 Slash throw anything..........but wath is it ?
is that matt sorum on the drum kit?
is matt the drumer???
what better that VR never!!!
Get your fact straigth boy! Slash left the bandmember could agree on anything in the end.
@theacag he threw his guitar slide and he tryed to make ity look like he flicked it off his finger
i think eric dover is an underestimated rock singer.he is fucking amazing.slash should ask him to join VR.
is that matt sorum on drums?
i really like the first guns' album cos it has the slash's style, and snakepit is fucking better!!!!
specially what do you wanna be!!!!!!
@plokplokersable I've read Slash's Autobiography, he says he formed Snakepit because he missed his inspiration and just playing music. Awesome song. BUT where the great intro ???
eric dover has a great voice. awesome singer.
