- “Rio Bravo” from 1959 excels as a fine-crafted and action-packed embodiment of the Hollywood Western genre-among the American entertainment industry’s most enduring creations.
When gunslinger Joe Burdette (Claude Akins) kills a man in a saloon, Sheriff John T. Chance (John Wayne) arrests him with the aid of the town drunk, Dude (Dean Martin). Before long, Burdette's brother, Nathan (John Russell), comes around, indicating that he's prepared to bust his brother out of jail if necessary. Chance decides to make a stand until reinforcements arrive, enlisting Dude, an old cripple named Stumpy (Walter Brennan) and baby-faced cowboy Colorado Ryan (Ricky Nelson) to help. - บันเทิง
I sure do miss all these old Westerns that I grew up with.
I've always thought Dean Martin had a better voice than Frank Sinatra, just my opinion

I just love how John Wayne doesn’t say anything. He just stands there and smiles.
And enjoys the way his mates are having fun during tough times. It's a significant smile and you don't see John Wayne smiling very often.
There's nothing left to be said.

@@scotte3698 The only western that can show, the camaraderie of men and the picaresque and freedom of the west is the good, the bad and the ugly, and the wild bunch that is clearly influenced by spaghetti, so don't disrespect a genre that revived and I allow the western to live 10 more years of great movies

I love Rio Bravo ~ have seen it I don’t know how many times over the past 63 (gasp!) years. I saw it at the theater when it came out in 1959. I got to see Ricky Nelson in person when he was in Denver in 1960. Listening to Dean and Ricky sing, along with Walter Brennan on harmonica, brings back wonderful memories of times gone by. And, John Wayne was my favorite actor ~ both westerns and dramas ~ of all time. ❤

Mr. Cool & The Crowned Prince of Rock & Roll both have 2 of the 3 most beautiful male voices I’ve ever heard!! Restless Kid should’ve made the cut for Rio Bravo! How it wasn’t a number 1, I’ll never know! Rick sang it better than Johnny’s demo! He sang a lot of songs better than the guys he covered!

Thanks for the kind comments! I was fortunate enough to have the original session tapes to work from, though I had to fly the harmonica in from the audio of the film itself. I enjoyed working on these two a *lot*. Nelson was under-rated as a performer, and his recordings sound very full and natural in stereo.

@@cristinabumbac151 Comme tous les gens de ma génération ( je suis né en 1947 ) j'ai baigné dans le cinéma Américain depuis ma tendre enfance , j'ai vu tous les grands westerns , mes préférés ; Rio Bravo -Alamo -La rivière sans retour -Réglement de compte à OK Corral - La charge des tuniques bleues etc.etc. Puis un peu plus tard le Rock N' Roll est arrivé avec Elvis - Buddy Holly -Eddie Cochran -Gene Vincent -Carl Perkins -Chuck Berry et la découverte de la merveilleuse voix de Ricky Nelson , décédé malheureusement tragiquement comme beaucoup d'autres rockers , mention spéciale au crooner Dean Martin qui est formidable .

Probably the best Western of all time. I've seen it countless times. Only the music parts make this film worth watching.
Notice the third song is from a Ricky Nelson album. It's about the Colorado Kid, his character in the movie...also in stereo from the record master. 1959 is early for stereo.

Yes! Wasn’t his voice absolutely beautiful?! I absolutely love it! Love the beautiful vibrato in his voice! It’s genuine & not faked! I think he had one of the best & unique voices ever! (Rick Nelson had that vibrato, too, but by then, it wasn’t cool to have it, so I’m assuming that’s why I’m not hearing it in his voice at this time or later...too bad...it was beautiful. What Industry dictates...). My biological father was a semi-famous musician...I just found this out in 2020. I have his vibrato, but I have not his range of voice. (I surely wish I had!) He was a little younger than Rick Nelson.
