You are by far not alone! I have 25 and I‘ve only been at it 2 years. Its a wonderful hobby, art form, graceful, harmonious and crucial element of lifestyle. Each pipe has a story, a memory, a suitability and a look and impression.

A lovely story about collecting tobacco pipes 👏👏👏👏👏👏😊 Don’t feel bad having 30 pipes…I got 200 pipes…30 are cobs….and 150 are briars…..the rest are morta, olive, pearwood, cherrywood, or meerschaum…..for me….they are works of art…I love each one…for the memories when I bought it. Slowly, I rotate through them…they all are smoked at least once a year 😄😉💨💨💨

I can say the same. A good 'ol chap named Lester M. influenced my decision to take up the lifestyle. At also 66 of age, I acquired 76 pipes, 130+ tins, and accessories in merely two short months. Am even a lucky owner of five birth year 1958 Dunhill pipes.

I just came across this video. A beautiful collection. I like you thoughts on this subject. I have a collection of sorts but don't see myself as a collector. I do chose pipes based on mood and even utility for sure. Sometimes I smoke one pipe till I feel bad for it and move on. Sometimes it will be several in one day. Thanks for sharing. Be well

If you’ve not already done so in the interim, I thought a talk devoted to pipe stems ( materials: vulcanite, lucite, acrylic, ebonite, etc. and typology: fishtail, p-lip; effects on smoking quality, etc.) might be interesting. Not much on that sort of thing on the YT pipe videos I’ve seen. Greatly enjoyed seeing your collection - thank you for sharing it with us! Happy to have recently subscribed.

Cool collection! I am 41 yrs old and recently I bought two used pipes, restored them and also did some customizing to them so they would fit my own style.... I dont relly know why I did that. I guess it is because I recently stopped smoking cannabis daily and I miss the ritual of preparing and tending to a smoke... have smoked cigarettes for 2 decades wich honestly always was a mindless satisfaction of a nicotine craving... Smoking cannabis however was more like a cozy ritual I earned after a hard days work. I had my tackle box with the specific kind of papers I liked, my favourite rolling tube made from a piece of hardwood in just the right angle for my paper of choice. I would roast and mix the tobacco and get my blend just right before rolling my blunt and sitting back and enjoying it while thinking about the day and ideas for tomorrow...
After having had the tobacco pipes for a few weeks I must admit I quite like the whole stuffing, preparing and smoking of a good pipe... However I still need to find just the right type of pipe tobacco for me to really complete the feeling! I need something very sweet and mild with alot of taste.... but finding the right blend is difficult since tobacco companies cant do commercials in my country and taste descriptions of tobacco online is considered unlawfull...

Make whatever sorts of videos you like, but all of us (no matter how long we've had a pipe dangling from our mouths) can benefit from seeing how someone else packs, lights, smokes, and cleans their briars.

Good number of nice pipes, today I must slow seriously down since just recently I was renewing my whole collection selling the older and replacing them with newer ones (kept it on the 80-150$) range and all this led to pretty significant expenses, then I come to realise that those older english estates are far from being cheap and they are chased by collectors.
As,to special comment; It might be interesting to show ups what are your preferred packing techniques and how you usually do the cleaning of your pipes. Thank You for Sharing, and have a nice weekend, best greets from across the big water, Paul

You Sir need more pipes an anyone telling you no.. you don’t need that type of negativity around you. Hahaha that an impressive array of Briar . I’ve seen your comments on maybe needing restraint. But I say why you’re doing what you love and enjoy yourself while on this planet. Plus you have something to show for your efforts and I think it creates a certain quality about ones passion for the 🍂 leaf we all love so.
As for a theme for a video I wouldn’t mind at all for your interpretation of what pipe smoking does for a persons daily experiences. An how to conduct yourself while in a non tolerant society. Great Video and enjoyed your time

How is it today? Did your collection grow?
Every pipe is a piece of art….even a cheap one can be beautiful. If it’s handmade or mechanically produced - someone’s thoughts and creativity influenced it’s creation.
I enjoy to look at beautifully made pipes, feel them…..and sometimes smoke a delicious tobacco in them but some are still virgin.
My limitation in terms of price was around 130€ (nowadays around 170€) and i got a lot of beauty in this range. Estates and New Old Stock and pipes nobody seems to like….but this one time (at band camp😄) i tried to find out if Dunhill pipes are as good as their reputation. They’re ok.

@@lapipesmoker3751 Meerschaum is definitely different to briar. I have three pipes - all under 120€ - all unique and beautiful. I would love to buy a few more but the prices they call nowadays are out of hand.

COBBIT of the SHIRE I favor Virginia Burley Cavendish blends. However, I also enjoy Kramer's Father Dempsey and Frog Morton's On the Town. I've got a pretty reliable source for Esoterica blends, so whatever I get I usually put in my cellar. Anyway, it looks like the whole thing has gotten a bit out of control. A little self-restraint and delayed gratification are in order.

A very nice, and far from too big, collection (I know several people who have hundreds of pipes, and even a few who have thousands!). I would very much have liked the 'academic and tedious' walk through. I am definitely a pipe guy more than I am a tobacco guy, and I have a very very nice collection too, if I dare say so myself, and I certainly can relate to the creeping feeling of horror when doing a quick estimate of what it has cost me so far, atleast 10K US dollars urgh. I also have a box of pipes that I don't count as part of my collection, pipes Ive gotten in various ways, like a bunch of Stanwell year pipes, some WO Larsens, Georg Jensens, all top notch smoking tools, but just not quite unique and exclusive enough to be part of my collection. Anyway, the tube is full of instructional videos, I have no ideas for you. But I just found your pipe collection vid from 18th Feb, and that is what I want to see :) So many collect tobaccos or are into that, but we don't seem to be too many who focus on the pipes! Cheers from Copenhagen!

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. You have made some excellent points about the frequency of the discussion of pipes, and the enjoyment of collection of them. I will try and think how I can share this collection in greater detail, as I share in your interest in the pipes themselves; both the tobacco and pipe come together, often in an unanticipated combination, for the sublime experience. the "perfect smoke". You should consider sharing your thoughts as a presenter.---Todd

Gaston Deveaux that is a Sasieni "4-DOT RUFF ROOT DARK". It's a "post transition" pipe and not considered a high-value collectible. However, it smokes great and is a very well cured Briar. Also, it has a vulcanite stem, which I find more satisfactory than a plastic or lucite one.

I go through two pounds of tobacco per month. I try not to smoke a pipe more than once per day. Do the simple arithmetic. Thirty-three pipes ain't that many. Perhaps it is, for a collector, but NOT for a smoker.

I only have 15 pipes. I have a cobbit on the way. You have a unique collection, but I must disagree with you. I never regret a pipe purchase.
