The government should have called CERB as it should be: a loan, not a benefit. Benefit implies there is no strings attached, while a loan is something that needs to be paid back. There are some who applied for it because they were led into believing this was 'free money' when this was more along of the line of a loan. They should have called this as Canada Emergency Response Loan

    • @ToudaHell

If you're smart, you can take advantage of the fact that there's no interest on the CERB. Even if the stock market wasn't the greatest at the time, it was a great time to buy into it. No, Conservatives will do it though. That is what the Conservatives are all about right? No compassionate deals for anyone that are criminals. Tax evasion is a crime.

Ummm. I just got a large bill from CRA that can not possibly be right. They did the taxes themselves (not me) charging 17% to do it. Unknown calculation of interest. BUT This after trying to inform them and the RCMP of fraud multiple times after provincial and municipal police refused services including evidence. Plus it has to be said.. myself and the situation is known to many and after being robbed and assaulted I cant work but apparently dont even qualify for temporary benefits outside of Ontario Works that leaves me with 63.00 a month after my 700.00 month rent. They want me to pay after police and gov allowed interference in my job (15yrs) home to be stolen and financial assests and benfits (i didnt recieve) to be stolen.

Wait? CRA managed to count that high? Those guys are failed accountants because the CRA can't afford to hire some because the salary is too low.

@@DBeau73 I talked to a uber driver who also works at Deloitte as an auditor. He told me they pay more at CRA.

I strongly encourage those Canadians who fraudulently received Covid benefits to pay the government back. You will sleep better at night, you won't be scared of knocks on your door, or calls from CRA collection agents.

No effing way it will go towards that but I agree. They never have money for federal programs or the army but when they cut those programs the money goes poof.
