Completely agree. Every interview I see makes me like them even more. Genuinely nice people who live what they do. And my god, are they good at it. I was lucky enough to see them last month in Barcelona. Without doubt the best experience ever, and one I will remember forever. 🤘
@@kalidesu a bass player would never be able to play the drums because he's only able to barely handle 4 to 6( depending on the type of bass guitar) strings. Drumming is definately a harder challenge than being only a bass player ;P..... Nah i'm only joking. Drummers would alsoo jump in and play the bass if the bass player screws up just as much as bass players jump in once we drummers fail. Actually the singers and guitar players can be as good as they want.. what matters the most is how the bass player and the drummer are playing because they, not the guitar player nor singer, give the song the beat and the base and a good base is what matters the most.

I was lucky enough to book into the same hotel as Iron Maiden when I went to see them in Brimingham about 10 years ago. The night before the concert my mate and I spent the last of the evening and some of the morning drinking with this man. He is an absolute gentleman and one of the funniest people I have ever met. The next night, after the concert, he approached me and my mate, stopped for a quick hello, and asked my mate to 'pull my finger'. You know what came next. Genuinely nice guy!

Nico McBrain, John Bonham, Neil Peart, Bill Ward and Phill Rudd are the GOAT drummers of rock and metal. No matter the instrument, it's not about how fast or advanced you can play, it's about serving the song.
Nicko created his own unique approach. He plays with such panache that he makes it sound simple but the technical facilities needed to pull it off is tremendous...
This wonderful man inspired me to pick up a set of sticks. In the 1980,s when my sister got married, I had my Remo kit permanently set up in her bedroom. My Dad would curse Nicko when I practised.
Neil Peart (RIP) was the GOAT of 3-pc percussion and part of the best Rock Trio ever. Nicko is such a great storyteller. I’m impressed how he can return the conversation back to the original topic and not ramble like a lot of old party rockers do. He’s a sharp dude!
This guy is DEFINITELY in my top 5 best drummers of all time! As a youth in the early 80's I watched a show on PBS that taught music. Not just how to play,but music theory, cord structure,beats per minute,timing,ect,ect! I was surprised to see the cast talk about Maiden's playing style,and show how they played to make it seem like they were playing faster then they actually were!
I went to a guitar convention and Nicko was showcasing his Sonor kit. It was so close and personal I was stood right next to him as he played. An absolute down to earth gem of a guy. I blagged a drumstick off him. This was just after Adrian had left the band. This would have been 1990ish.
I was in Boca Raton FL for a business trip and went to a local restaurant/bar for dinner and a beer, and sat next to Nicko at the bar without knowing it. Within seconds I realized who he was and we had a good conversation over the next 1/2 hour or so. He was very funny and having some fun with the bartender and staff. He said I should go to his Rock & Roll Ribs restaurant in nearby Coconut Creek. Nice fun-loving guy.
I love Nicko. He fills up a whole rhythm section. His beats are always danceable and each song is unique and instantly recognizable. I already ordered Senjitzu on CD. I will buy the tour Blu Ray when it comes out. Nicko is so good Steve often plays his bass as well as Dave or Adrian, right in the melody or harmony instead of rhythm. Janick only adds to the rich sound. I have been a fan since 1984 when someone played Piece of Mind for me. Love at first listen. They took over my mind and installed Eddie in my brain and I was whole. (🤩)

Back in the 80’s, my friends and I saw Maiden 5 times in one year! We couldn’t get enough of them! You could tell they genuinely enjoyed the fans and what they were doing. They didn’t take themselves too seriously and become assholes like you see a lot of rock stars. They just enjoyed jamming!
As a teenager in the 80s, I saw them 5 times too. The first was opening for Van Halen in 81. First concert I went to. After seeing them I was a bit disappointed in Van Halen. These guys stayed together (for the most part) and just gave us great music and performances. You can’t ask for more than that!!! I have every album they made in several formats, and still listen to them more than any other band.

Got a bird's eye view of his playing at the Leeds gig a couple of weeks ago. What amazes me is how smooth and relaxed his sticking is. A joy to watch.
I got to hang out and party with Nicko. Such a friendly and funny guy. Of all the rockers I've had the pleasure of meeting, he's my favorite.
