    As a wolves fan i don’t think it’s anywhere near as bad as some people think. We played some of our best football when neves was suspended for 2 games we’ve got a strong core of player who were one of the best sides since Lopetegui took over whilst having next to no output from our forwards. it’s probably more a case of get rid of players Like Jimenez and maybe collins although i’d much rather him stay and invest smartly which we’ve done before in forward players. We’ve got Sasa coming back with Fabio silva along with Chiqinho who showed a lot of promise before his injury along with Ryan Giles who had a great year in the championship. I think we are fine and the only area i’d be focused on heavily improving is the forward line. Our defence is solid although Sa could be upgraded on and our midfield could be left untouched now and i’d be perfectly happy with it

      You certainly do still have a lot of talent, Joao Gomes for example is a player I really like - my main worry for you is that the owners may continue to sell and won't invest to replace the departures

      Lopetegui won’t complete the season, especially as he’s been lied to. There’s no money to buy players and the best players have gone. Without a doubt Wolves will be relegated.

    Ruben Neves truly copper-fastened his legendary status at the club this Summer. One of the greatest to ever don the Old Gold, and the lofty transfer fee he commanded has hugely helped us out. It's incredibly frustrating that Fosun finally have the manager they sought after so desperately upon their takeover in 2016, only for Lopetegui to be offered the Spanish job, but now do not have the flexibility to properly back him.
    It's ever-more galling when Man City and their 115 charges can hoover up silverware in an almost unparalleled season of success, but sadly, those are the odds we must combat.
    Matthew Hobbs has indicated that we will be moving to a model of £8m-£15m players going forward, and frankly, I'm very much OK with that. Our greatest success stories have been in that bracket. Hobbs himself identified Enzo Fernandes, Carlos Alcaraz (who was sensational with Southampton) as well as Joao Gomes. We need to lean far more heavily into this market and this more frugal mindset than expecting Mendes to do the job for us. The initial rampant success of his involvement has subsided to a number of big money bombs.

    The hiring of Gary O’Neil seems to be working so far, but I think it’s very similar to Javi Gracia at Watford. They may climb to a mid table finish and look like they may just sustain themselves as a solid mid table team, but don’t be fooled, it’s only because there’s a relegation league of 4 teams with the 3 newly promoteds and Bournemouth.
    They may slip down the table toward the end of the year and go down next year

  • @SirTommyT
    @SirTommyT ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You probably missed out one of the biggest contributors to this was due to us making European football so quick we immediately fell foul of FFP several years ago which limited what we could do for the next 3 years which lead to a domino situation massively causing the problem we have this transfer market

  • @Pragwo1f
    @Pragwo1f ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It started going wrong when Laurie Dalrymple left in murky circumstances. We undersold Diogo Jota, sold Matt Doherty to Spurs and paid ridiculous sums for Fabio Silva and Nelson Semedo. We then got rid of Nuno and misguidedly broke up one of the PL's best centre back set-ups a year later.
    Fosun were generous in the 2022-23 January window; that generosity and fantastic support from fans helped secure PL status, but the squad is not balanced, and for me the jury is out on JL. Nunes and Joao Gomes certainly give us the nucleus of a strong midfield, but those abysmal away performances do not bode well.

    at least someones talking about us lol but honestly im not too worried but these next few seasons are gonna be hell but as long as we stay up through it all and clear improvements are made i know this will all pay off.

    No mention of Coady. Lemina had a great half season, even if he is getting older - Moutinho was great well into his 30s.
    Jonny is having issues but is coming back from injury. Lopetegui knows him from his under 19 days so he will know if he is over the hill or not. They have numbers which should show if he has slowed down.
    Raul looked good at the beginning of the season. Remember his pirate schtick? Maybe there are some nagging injuries which he needs to overcome this summer. I think people are using his head injury as an easy explanation of his decline when he has said it is actual physical issues.
    Dawson looked good and, frankly, at this point in time we don't have to worry about more than a couple years out with him. Let's just consolidate.
    Semedo blows hot and cold. Maybe Lopetegui will change the system to one which he can feel comfortable with and be more consistent. He is certainly not coming to the end of his prime.
    Sarabia needs to figure out the league. It is different and he may have to adjust his style to the faster pace and bigger, faster full backs.

    • @thewrldsgame
      @thewrldsgame  ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely forgot about Coady 🤦‍♂ Also was not calling the older players bad and saying they all had to be replaced, just pointing out age profile which is a struggle no team can run from

    Wolves have money to spend wisely. We'll have a few loans, loan to buy, and JL wisdom to be a good team

  • @shaunwilliams846

    It's time for a refresh. They are not in as bad of position as they will have you believe.
    Neves is a big loss, but we played very well when he was suspended. Lemina, Gomes, and Nunes are all more than adequate. The issue is the front line, and even there we have Neto who looks to be getting back to his best.
    Personally, I wouldn't be selling Collins but he has not played much under JL, so maybe he just doesn't fancy him. He is still raw and does make mistakes, but in a few years Collins will be a top player.
    Let's see the situation when the window closes. We are only two or three players away from a solid top ten side.

    As a wolves fan i think we will be okay neves for 47mil and collins potentially going unfortunately, leaves us with a decent budget also other players like raul podence and ait nouri and players you mentioned in the video can also raise funds so i think as long as we spend well which if its anything like January we clearly can i think we'll be okay.
    Also a very good video covering a topic not many people know about.

    I had no idea it was this bad for Wolves at the moment, thought they'd comfortably stay in the Prem for a few more seasons, but to see they're on the cliff-edge, shows teams in Europe a few years ago can just as easily fall off

    • @godsstruggler8783

      It's dire. Wolves have little worldwide appeal and a relatively small ground. They've spent a great deal of money on failures (Guedes Silva) and are on the brink of the manager walking out. I think that Fosun need to balance the books this window and then look for a buyer.

  • @mms9477
    @mms9477 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sums up our problems well, however I'd like to think with Lopetegui and Hobbs (new sporting director) we'll still be alright regardless of the incompetency above him. I've said for a few years now we need new owners, Fosun are done at Wolves and have been for some time. The Nuno period they hit on more by luck than judgement and 7 years on, they still don't know how to run a football club and have let Mendes bleed us dry and are the ultimate reason we're in FFP problems. However if Lopetegui were to get frustrated and walk (not beyond the bounds of possibility) then we're 100% down

    It's not baffling though is it. What's baffling is how people think it should be normal to continuously shell out money with no regard for the club's internal finances. Also, you identified Lemina and Dawson as being past their prime. Do you even watch football?

  • @mohussain1615
    @mohussain1615 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fosun Corporation, the owners of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC have plenty of money, the problem however is that they massively overspent last season on flops and duds like Goncalo Guedes for 27.5 Million, who only played for the club on a couple of occasions and then went out on loan.
    Over the year's they have been too reliant on super agent Jorge who has fleeced Wolves silly.
    Because of overspending, Financial Fair Play rules have effectively tied Wolves hands behind their back's. How Chelsea have spent nearly a Billion Pounds in just 3 transfer windows is a huge mystery though?

    I’m a wolves fan and this is down to the owners. Sure FFP has a part to play but even then the investment has either been poor or non existent. Fosun were good to begin with but they need to go now. As for Julen…good luck to him! Not sure how we’re gonna do without Neves, Moutinho and others, and strikers who can’t score!

      They took you from potential relegation back to league one, up to the premier league. Wolves is a massively overachieving championship club and the owners have lost a lot of money to make that happen. Be more grateful.

    • @beezergutler5488
      @beezergutler5488 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Of the founding members of the football league, only 4 are in the premier league (the other three being Burnley who just came back up, Everton who almost went down and villa who created the whole thing). One of them stopped trading altogether and the rest are between league 2 and the championship. It’s totally irrelevant.
      Wolves aren’t in the top 10 of honours won, they’re 11th. They haven’t won anything of note since the league cup in 1980. They’ve spent almost half of their existence outside of the top flight and two thirds outside of the premier league. They’ve got the 21st biggest club stadium in English football.
      It’s a championship club.

    There is worse teams in the prem that will finish below us next season im not worried .
    Them first years of the take over was probably the best for signings as we brought in players that made us better. Then moved them on for fees that was fair for some and low for others. Just not as bad as you are painting don't think .
