Spring Thyme I just got my annual pass this weekend as well! I had never been on this hike before, so we decided to go for it. It is challenging at times so be prepared and bring lots of water during the warmer months. Let’s keep moving!
I camped here for the first time over the weekend - i didn't do the whole trail due to time (I was just at Campsite #1 so didn't have far)...but I'll be back for sure. I adored it - did not see another soul the entire weekend!
I bet it was hot out too! This hike is awesome during the cooler months when the leaves are off the trees for better views. Glad you had fun out there!
Vastly underrated trail in a beautiful area of Georgia. Many, many trails and camping (must register) opportunities with plentiful water. At 4:25 a very little known back-country site is directly behind the amazing shot of the rock outcropping and valley beneath. The site is called "Moonshine" and is accessible via a shorter 3 mile loop trail that starts at a small lake. Gorgeous place to camp in the fall, plenty of room for a group and wood for fires in the fire ring. Stunning views in the Fall/Winter. You are very brave taking this on in JULY!! Thanks for the video, keep up the great work.
Thanks Doug! Will have to go back in the fall / winter months as you can prob see a lot more with the leaves gone. It was super hot out there in July. Thanks for watching!
In Fort Mountain state park The west overlook, Fire tower trail, and the rockwall/mooneye area combine for an easy loop with an epic view from the west overlook. Beautiful sunsets.
Good job bud! Going on a birthday hike in Georgia and I thought I'd TH-cam and found you. Was looking for something with some elevation I think this is a good trail for me. I'll let you know if I go thanks again 🙏
Hi Frank! This is a great trail to hike, especially during the colder months when the leaves are off the trees! I will say that there is a lot of bear activity in this area so keep an eye out. They are mainly harmless, but it is best to stay aware. Look forward to hearing about your experience! Good luck on trail and thanks for watching!
@@frankgell69 I wouldn't get bear spray as these are black bears. A little loud noise should scare them off. Ask the rangers at the check in about the daily activity and they will provide more insight. Cheers
The adventures of Smalls and Talls Thanks for watching! This trail is challenging at times but worth the effort. It was wild not to see a single person out there and bear tracks on the trail. Let’s keep moving!
Were gonna be doing a weekend backpacking weekend trip on the loop, I'm not sure if you would remember, but would be getting on the trail around 6pm on fri and was wanting to get to a camp spot closer rather than farther to the trail head....do u think we should do the trail clockwise or counterclockwise....I more than understand if you dont remember all the campspots lol....thanks
@@MetroOnTheMove thanks!.....ended up going solo for the weekend at coosa Backcountry, made it right before they started closing everything down....thanks
Great video. Thanks! Any suggestions on where to set up a tent and spend the night? Being this the first hike I’m going on, do I need to worry about the bears? :)
You have to reserve back country sites in advance. Yes, there are bears in this park and you should take proper measures to ensure your food is hung up properly or use bear canisters.
I did that trail a few years ago and there wasn't much water so we left a gallon at the guard shack we also saw no one. Try Black Mountain if you want difficult. Lol
My wife and I have been planning to do this hike for a few years now. Thanks for the great video!
Life Outside My Door thanks for watching! This is a great hike and the trail will provide better views in the fall and winter months.
My kind of trail. Solace. I was just there yesterday to get my yearly park pass. Saw this trail. Excited to try now. Thanks for posting this.

@@MetroOnTheMove should I get some bear spray from Dick's?? I'm a little freaked out with these bears now LOL 😵🤣

Amazing video! That trail is a butt kicking! We did it last year and didn’t see a soul! Great job to you and Lollie!

You have to get a permit to camp in the back country and there is assigned spots to camp I think. I would call ahead as most State Parks close at 5.

Agreed! Black Mountain is way tougher. Thanks for watching!
