    Glad to see a tool list/tool review with some used tools. I’m so tired of these channels showing off there collection of brand new unused tools. Good video dude

      Thanks man! That is kind of why I started making these videos. I wanted to make some tool videos that reminded people of their own stuff. That’s what I like watching. I’m definitely going to do a part two of this because there were so many favorites that didn’t make the list.

    Another great video, I enjoy these type of videos because a lot of tool channels just talk about new purchases or the latest and greatest and it’s always great to hear stories about these tools such as the SK ratchet you upgraded. It’s very refreshing to mix it up and talk about favorite tools. Maybe a story about some of your first tools in your career or how you ended up getting so passionate about tools.

      Thanks man. That’s a good idea. I could definitely do a topic like that about the first tools that got me into being a tool nerd lol. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Great video! It's a good thing to appreciate our tools, they help us earn a living and they can tell special stories especially if an old work buddy or family member passed them down to us. I still use my father's scissor jack from the 1940s. That thing could jack up the Empire State Building!

    My most favorite hand tools are my brace and bits. I don't know if you own any but I have a mint condition Stanley brace that is probably 80 years old and it's just beautiful. You would be surprised to know that the brace and bit actually cut easier and so much nicer than a drill and drill bit. The wood handle in your hand, the elbow strength, the sound of the cut, and the nice shaving coming up just speaks to me. I've been collecting old bits for a long time.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s really cool. I’ve never used anything that old school. Some day I’d like to get in to wood working using only antique hand tools. People that can do that are amazing to me.

    I have found so many old *quality* tools at estate sales and flea markets. I have a *beautiful* set of old Craftsman open/closed end SAE and metric wrenches that are just so good. Old Proto and Craftsman adjustable wrenches. You can find a lot of really good stuff, often for cheap. Just need to know how to de-rust and clean them up. Look (and work) like new. Don't need to spend a fortune -- get the old quality stuff (you won't regret it).

    The SK Rotohead! (Old SK “Diamond) is the best!)
    That’s the real deal 👍👍👍👍 I have the same. AND I have my dads 1/4” SK ratchet from the late 1950’s
    They are my gems. Great channel, subbed

    I have a Stanley US made 15-170 adjustable hacksaw that i love. Its also among my favorite hand tools. Adjustable but built like a tank, nice handle.
    Its not expensive, its nothing flashy, its just old school US quality that works.

    • @realworldtoolreviews

    I have the same feelings for my snap on ratchet but I did not buy mine my grandfather gave me his old 6” 3/8 drive ratchet and it’s so smooth. I don’t use it much anymore as I haven’t been working on vehicles but it is still my favorite plus it’s an old snap on not the new ones and it has a beautiful patina to it and still smooth to use

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Those old snap on ratchets are great. Even though they make higher tooth count and all that now, those old clunky ones are just solid and the snap on design was just so cool.

    I’m glad to see the Vaco Bull Handle getting some love. But it isn’t just about fitting your hand, it’s about leverage. The principle of the lever is everywhere in tools, even screwdriver handles. A larger diameter handle on a screwdriver gives you greater mechanical advantage.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For sure dude. That’s another reason why I love those bull drivers. I hate a tiny handle screwdriver when I need some torque.

    Malco eagle grip 10in curved jaw, Estwing 3lb drilling hammer,, Knipex twin grip and cobras, Stahlwille 3/8 flex head ratchet, Gedore 1/2 ratchet, Gedore red 172 piece set, Wera chisel drivers, PB Swiss craftform screwdrivers (especially the 6465 and 6464), fiskars fixed blade utility knife, Milwaukee 6 in 1 knife, and klein glow in the dark pliers (I also like the big HD iron worker pliers).

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve heard good things about those eagle grips. I might have to snag some. I’ve got so many good vise grips now though. I bet those German ratchets are nice too. I have the Framer version hammer and a fuller full tang I made my own wooden handle for, love them and all tools that aren't crap, most new tools are rubbish( not all) compared to the old and when restored they are better than they were. The ultimate thing about them is using them! All the best from the UK. One other thing" if you can find m.o.d uk tools with the arrow mark on them you know your getting something special that was used by many in the military, maybe a little easier to find over here I'm guessing!

    My absolute favorite hacksaw and the best I've ever used is a swedish made sandvik that was rebranded by Klein.
    My favorite ratchets are are the WRIGHT tool contour grips, they just feel so great in hand.
    When it comes to hammers I'm all about Vaughan & Bushnell, I gotta have hickory handles.
    For claw hammers I like the more versatile rip claws over a curved claw, and the Vaughan 9 series is my favorite.
    I have 3 of the little 10oz #9, 2 16oz #99, 3 variants of the #999 20oz, and I have a 25oz of the same pattern that's not in the 9 series of model numbers.
    I'm 1000% a Channellock fan when it comes to pliers, I'll buy other American made pliers especially vintage stuff but for new stuff I'm absolutely a Channellock fanboy.
    I've got stickers, and lapel pins, a large set of their screwdrivers, picks, and about 30 pairs of Channellock pliers / cutters.
    I'm actually planning to acquire almost every model they make.
    I won't buy any of the weird redundant sizes that are only a 1/2" size difference though, I don't like the GL series groove locks, and will not buy those ugly ass new button lock one's.
    Call me crazy but I want my pliers to look normal like pliers always have with no unnecessary futuristic styling added. ( the classy forged in grip patterns pliers used to have are a different story)
    I love the Vacco drivers as well, I have an Excelite version of that same reversable driver and I have a smaller Vacco model DUH4 in a blue handle.
    The steel is great, but they are notorious for the horrid puke smell when their acetate handles break down.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea those old Vaco and xcelites definitely stink after a while 😂

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The chisel drivers are pretty nice. Wera makes a good screwdriver for sure. I like the regular ones the best because they are light and have really grippy heads.

    The green screwdriver is Harbor freight I believe. I also have one and love it as an all around, I turn screws with it and use it as a beater. I went looking to buy more of them a few months ago and found that harbor freight carries a set of 7-8 that seem to be the exact same thing so I picked up a set. They don't seem to have the "quality control" as my original one, but a little sanding the burr's on the top of the handle and good to go.
    My favorite hammer is a Vaughn 16oz straight claw with a wooden handle. Perfect for any task IMO
    My only dislike on the Wilde channel locks is they are straight jawed, I prefer the V style head. My favorite ones are the Knipex as well as the Craftsman rebrand of Knipex.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dang I didn’t know those were harbor freight. They are so old I thought their pre dated harbor freight. I’d like a set of them. I prefer a straight jaw channel locks myself, but those Knipex are great too

    Cool. I collect and restore vintage hand tools and have a lot of the same tools. Several sets of Uticas, the Klien lineman pliers ($4 at estate sale), the 1/4 sk ratchet which is amazing and you can service tool free- just pinch snap ring with fingers. Also have a half complete set of SK-Wayne combination wrenches in SAE and metric (1960's). All these tools have something in common, that next level feel in the hand, excellent function, and kickass durability.

    I buy at estate sales all the time. You find gems there for a reasonable price or pretty much free. People judge and say "don't you feel bad buying dead fellers tools". I say, would you like all your stuff thrown in the garbage or give them another life.

    Everyone needs a favorite #2. 😂 All good choices. Check the pivot point on those new Klein linesman pliers. Is the rivet closer to the cutters than your old pair? I pick up vintage hacksaw for $2-4 regularly. One day I didn't have one with me so I picked up a new Lenox hacksaw at a plumbing supply house. It was total crap. I took it back & the guy said" you need to return that". I said nope this is a gift for you. I want you to take it home & use it so you know what kind of sh*t you're selling. I really like that sk Roto head. I'm gonna have to find me one.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The hack saws they sell now really are total junk compared to a good heavy duty vintage one. I’m so amazed by that crescent one. It instantly became one of my favorite tools. I feel like I got super lucky with that roto head sk. I’ve never seen one before or since. I hope you find one!

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also no, both pairs of kleins have the same rivet. They both cut great, but those 2000 series ones cut super smooth.

  • @buckmahaffey7648
    @buckmahaffey7648 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Snap on is usually always smooth. Most all their stuff is precision! Definitely pricey but if you use it constantly its worth it. Klein has always been top of mind for lineman, sk makes some nice stuff, wera makes great tough little screwdrivers, and i love my Klein 11 in 1. Look for your sk at pawn shops. You usually have to dig in the wrench bins but crack heads need their fix and they will sell them to a pawn shop in a heartbeat. Most pawn shops overlook sk especially when it comes to small wrenches.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
