Flávio Micheletti you’re right, 4:54 is still in the jazz waltz. He’s still about halfway through the form at this point, I think you misunderstood it as him starting a new style.
Flávio Micheletti no problem! I’m pretty sure he was playing the chord changes to Charlie Parker’s Blues For Alice, which has a lot of extra ii-V progressions thrown in which is quite a confusing sound compared to the more blues progressions.
Honestly, this has to be the best performance of blues to a person like me trying to get back in piano again, thanks for motivating me man, you're a real inspiration!
KeyboardImprov.com with pleasure mister. I'm studying Audio Engineering at the moment. Maybe when i finish we could record some nice music together, would be a honor for me. I love music
Thanks Kevin - that's exactly what I was going for! (It was interesting doing the transcription. I learned a lot about my playing. Things I do automatically but don't think about, like and 8th note on the 'and' of 4 that leads to the next chord)
wow. I've probably watched this video 7 times in the last 3 days cause it's so good. once I can read piano music better I'll buy it, but I've only been playing for a little over a year and a half
Thanks Kyle! I had a lot of fun playing these styles and am glad they're inspiring you. See if you can improvise in the style of the Delta Blues at the beginning of the video :)
KeyboardImprov do you have instructional videos on what makes the sound of these styles? To me it seems a few styles are really recognizable by their left hand patterns like stride and boogie and big band, but then again some have really recognizable right hands too like NO. Especially guys like Booker and Longhair. It's an interesting discussion
sweeeeet. i'm 41 years old but i've fallen in love with the blues. I think my heart is at the "Mississippi blues" stage. Nice to hear you go through the stages. Bookmarked - Thank you!
Ron, you are so talented! I miss seeing you at the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival...moved to the lower 48. Thanks, Joy, for including me on you share/like!
I'm glad you enjoyed it ,Simon! (and thanks for the share) Yes, it's a grand. Looks like a baby grand on the vid but technically it's the smallest sized full grand made by Mason Hamlin. Good luck with your playing!
Thanks for sharing so much wisdom... you convey three species of love: love for the music, love for the piano, and love for teaching. I'm a guitarist and I 've been given music lessons all my life, so I enjoy each one of your videos from two places: as a student and as a teacher. In both scenarios I'm always learning from you. Thank you very much.
It's 8 years later but this is gold. I'm just starting to learn piano and I'm trying to decide what direction I'd like to go in. This is a tour of what I might like. Thanks.
Thank you! I hoped to find full versions of these compositions in your book. But I found the exact short examples of Jazz you are playing in this video. Especially I was interested in the full version of "Chicago Blues". It looks like I would better search Otis Spann's blues.
I'm glad you liked the video and transcription of what I played. Yes, for longer examples, check out some Otis Spann transcriptions. He was the master!
So neat man! So as a guitarist ,i enjoy listening to pianist for inspiration. For some reason my ear lends itself to piano riffs and melodies in a differnt way than listening to a guitarist. So this is really neat .Thanks.
That's one way to develop a personal style: imitate someone who plays another instrument. I think the saxophonist Sam Rivers said something to this effect.
@@rondrotoskeyboardimprov9453 thanks! I just purchased it. Do you have any straight bebop soling lessons I can purchase? I love that bebop solo you have on the blues evolution video
@@tonycardinal413 Enjoy playing the transcription, Tony! I don't have any bebop ebooks, but there are lots of bebop and jazz improv lessons in my video course.

Well done, it shows the diversity within the blues...there’s something there for everyone.
Thanks very much, Andrew. You said it well; there's diversity over the same basic form.
All you need is a sax and and a drummer and you got a groovy group jam session there!

what song was cool jazz?
It was a 12-bar minor blues. Kind of in the style of Miles Davis's "Freddie Freeloader," but with minor chords.
This is amazing !!! Is the transcription exact and includes bass and treble clefs ?
