I just got one of these a few days ago. We had a Eureka from the 60's that was still going when I was a kid in the 80's and 90's. I just vacuumed my entire house yesterday. It's awesome, I can feel it vibrating the floor, getting that imbedded dirt loose. There's less "little dusties" visible floating by the lamps and in the air, so that's a good sign. Oddly, the only other vacuum that I've had that did that was my Rainbow D4 that was a curb find. So I say forget the stuff about air quality and how this vacuum has poor filtration. If it's removing the dirt from your home, it's removing the dirt, so it's not going to reappear at the whim of when your HVAC system comes on to blow it around. I am super happy with this vacuum!
I have childhood memories with Sanitaire Traditions because the dorms at my church camp have these in their utility closets that we use to clean up before going home and I love the vintage growl and wind that the motor makes when vacuuming I think the only difference between this particular one and the ones we use at camp is that ours has the hard plastic dust bin at the bottom of the bag instead of it being a shake out or throw away bag and I also like the metal button used to switch it on and off
Have the same one but with the allergen bag. Is it normal for this type of vacuum to struggle to pick up larger debris on carpet, ie. dog or cat food pellets? Mine is newer, no issues, picks up hair amazing, but the bag starts smelling in no time and it spits out larger debris. Is it something I'm doing wrong?
I agree, this Sanitaire suctions onto the carpet, so it feels like it weighs twice as much when you are pushing it to clean. It's a bit of a work out, I had to turn on some fans while I was vacuuming, it's January. When it's off, it's the same weight as most full sized uprights. Having the attachments with the Kirby would be nice, Kirby's definitely a more complex machine.
This and a shop vac from lowes would be cheaper than what it costs to buy a brand new kirby. And shop vacs are great for larger cleanups and are less likely to clogg

my grandmother has a eureka the boss, which is a black clone of these, but all plastic and uses and F&G style bag
The one I have is so loud I feel like it’s going to blow up so I ended up having it on for only 2 seconds lol

So how does this compare in ease of use to my Kirby Avilar?
Because of its tech drive the Avalir is more easier to use than the Sanitaire but the Sanitaire is lighter weight than the Kirby with out the cord.
