  • Glen Etive. An awesome 12 mile winding and undulating narrow road to the beautiful Loch Etive. Enroute we pass the location for a scene in James Bonds Skyfall. On the return journey we stopped to film some Kayakers riding the rapids on the river that runs through the Glen and down to the Loch.
    We did this drive in mid May 2022 and the weather (on this day) was fortunately dry and mostly sunny too.

    We just visited that road and did a Skyfall photoshoot - also nice to see how it looks in another season. :)

      We did it in mid May. It must be even better on a bright winters day! Cheers👍

    The very end of the road is at a boat landing stage now rotten. There use to be a round trip by train, coach, boat (in the 20's and 30's) from/to Connel, via Ballachulish, Glen Coe (old road), Glen Etive and Loch Etive

    Whats the speed limit there. Im driving it in October for the first time. Being a single road.

    • @NigelHarperPhoto
      @NigelHarperPhoto  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The maximum speed limit in the Highlands is 60mph. But on this road that would be dangerous and suicidal! I'd say stay at around 30 mph whilst enjoying the scenery and be careful on the blind bends. Pull into a passing place if someones coming towards you as the road is very narrow. Also if someones on your tail, pull into the next passing place and let them pass, as they may be a local. Also don't park up in passing places! It is a stunning drive down to Loch Etive and I hope the weather is good for your trip! Cheers👍

    Too fast, even when slowed down!
    Why the dragstrip?

      Thanks for your comment! In real time, the video would've lasted around 40 minutes plus. Not many folk would have stayed around to the end at that running time. Maybe, one day I'll do it again slower who nows? Cheers!

      No, I think most people would want to see the unique beauties of Glen Etive. Thanks again.@@NigelHarperPhoto

      @@TheWhitehiker Yes, you're probably right! And, as an experiment I may well produce version at normal speed. Cheers!

      We can always slow it down as I did--but I wanted to slow it down even further.@@NigelHarperPhoto

    This road is dangerous for people trying to walk, this is the trouble with Scotland roads and routes are not safe for people of Scotland.

    • @NigelHarperPhoto
      @NigelHarperPhoto  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, it's not safe to walk on that road, best to use a trail off road! Cheers👍
