I drove for 20 years and the only time I used my jake brake was in the mountains, because its noisy and most of the time unnecessary. It comes in handy in an emergency braking situation but if you're driving in the snow or slippery conditions you don't want to use it anyway, so its just a tool to assist with braking, but all that back pressure aint good for the motor any honest mechanic will tell you that, but ya know what they say, to each their own. However brakes are cheaper to fix and replace than motors.
Make a game out of it. Pick certain gears where you trigger the jake while leaving the others clean. For instance, jaking all even gears while leaving the odds clean. This is a great way to "sync" your foot with your hand.
@beelzebub3632 If I told you, it would be irrelevant. My truck is different from the truck you're driving. Can't go based on my truck. The engine and power plays a role.

I like your video. But you are talking about shifting without the clutch and using the jakes. I used to double clutch and could keep the jakes on. Yes, people gonna hate me saying that i double clutched, but, my transmission lasted a LONG TIME. Besides, i don't worry about opinions. There over 8 billion of them; only 1 that matters is mine.

@@Bushbro9 how??? Other than the mountain grades the auto transmission is pretty efficient. I think truck drivers just wanna stand out and feel superior cuz they're doing something else other than just holding the wheel. The auto transmission can be manipulated to do what you want.
@@keithmorgan4883"I think truck drivers just wanna stand out and feel superior cuz they're doing something else other than just holding the wheel" Bro, that is not what it is.
