Beautiful Automobile AND Beautiful Family! Thank you for the story. Hope one day I will be able to have you work on my 72 W108 4.5 V8 in Dark Olive 291. The Car Culture is one to none!
Yeah, same here. I had the 250SE for 24 years!!! Same colour top, and he’s right about operating it up or down. Getting the thumbs up and smiles from kids always made my day. Missed it? Yes, but time to let others enjoy the fun of ownership. It was my dream car when I saw it for the first time in my late teens… No fancy hydro pneumatic suspension, but it was one of the best car on coil springs on all four corners! Bye bye Hertogh
…I totally understand how a car becomes a part of the family for it happened to mine. It started when I turned 16 in 1985 when I inherited my late Grandfather’s MBZ 1972 280 SEL 4.5 and in 1989 my Granny gave up driving so I got her matching 1971 280 SEL 3.5 Cabriolet and a 1985 300 TD all in white. I fondly refer to them as The Girls Bertha, Bella & Betsy. They are rust free and in excellent all original condition with very low miles except for Bertha the 4.5.
My dad had the same car 00839 purchased from Ralley Motors. This the fastest car I have ever driven. Same colors. Dad moved to San Diego and traded it for an Olds Deisel in 1978.
My gosh first time I saw that decades ago I thought it was such a beautiful car I'm not a big fan of the brown but it will do its just styling for days😊
Unfortunately no economical way, parts are expensive and hard to find, and knowledgeable workmanship getting less and less, but nonetheless, a fantastic and reliable car once sorted! I also own a 71 280SE auto. Love it

We had the older brother of this model for 18 years. Broke my heart to say goodbye but the selling price soothed any regrets. She lives in Vienna now.
