Nights in White Satin has been my favorite song sing I was 17 in 1967. The song edged out my favorite Beatles song If I Fell. Over the years new songs have come into being but Nights remains my favorite song.
What a great song!. I was about to say "there's no way you havent heard this song" before watching this. Ive never seen this footage before either. I bought a couple Moody Blues LPs awhile back and realized I had forgotten how much I like them. Very atmospheric, sometimes psychedelic and emotional music. Also, I appreciate your point of view of this song. Pointing out things I'd probably never notice. Great reaction! Looking forward to the next one.
To be fair, this footage really didn't see the light of day until 2009 when the director that filmed them during the Isle of Wight festival was finally able to put it all together and release their set on DVD. Probably not their best performance, but it can be difficult when you've got time constraints at a music festival and an audience of 600,000.
The lead singer, Justin Hayward, is now 76 and still touring solo! His voice is as silky and compelling as ever. I was blessed to have seen him live in 2022. BTW, Justin wrote this song when he was only 19!
Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm grateful for the opportunity to react to such amazing music. It's truly fascinating to see how influential this version from 1970 has been on artists over the years. Wishing you a most Flutifull day! 😄🙏
Hi Claire, Ray Thomas, the flautist in the Moody Blues regularly contributed flute solos on many of their tracks. Try listening to "Legend of a Mind", which he also wrote.
Hi Claire - loved the react and analysis. I usually encourage people to use the studio version for their first listen as there are many variables that can affect the performance. I believe that to be true for this version. Thanks and keep’em coming!
Thanks, I can toally understand where you're coming from, I like to react to a live performance as I'm interested in the performance itself as much as the track but I apprecaite it's not usually the most accurate or reliable version.
They were wonderful. I believe the gentleman Ray, passed this year unfortunately. Live concert in 2018 England just magnificent. Check out the flute player.
Ray Thomas actually cut the flute solo short. This was not a good venue to listen to the instrumentation. Try the 2001 concert in the Royal Albert Hall for a much better version.
Hi Claire, this is one of my long list of favourite bands and one of my favourite tracks (Legend of a mind was another); yeah it’s a beautiful song, and a classic that never grows old. I’ve played this myself in the past but don’t sing so I do an instrumental version of it. I have used FX for the Flute part, something by EHX - maybe a MEL9 - it’s like a Melotron so can emulate something passable!
Hi Ian, subscribed and enjoyed? Looks like we're off to a great start! Glad to have you on board, and I hope you continue to enjoy all the flutifull content. Cheers from down t'road! 😄🙏
Funny thing. This song seems to bring out higher emotion from men than women. I've seen quite a few reaction videos of this song and--from one man observing another--I can sense a deeper emotion coming up from them. You'd think women would be in tears over a song with this much romance and emotional power, but it seems to dig into men even more.
This song along with California Dreamin' were my favorites when I was growing up in that era of music.
Another classic choice, thanks for watching! 😄🙏

Thanks Chris, yes it's certainly one of those songs, and indeed band, that it's really great to rediscover. Gald you found the reaction interesting 😄🙌

That's awesome all round Amy! I didn't know he wrote it at 19, that's quite something! Thanks for watching 😄🙏
Thanks for reacting to this version in 1970!!! Amazing, he must have influenced many artists. Reminds me of Curt Cobain ❤

English is not my native but your pronunciation and speed is very good to hear. I'd better known about flute by your reaction!
Thank you, that's really great to hear! 😄🙏

He literally lacks control for he is smitten and speaking of his Love from afar
I love that idea, thanks for sharing, and watching 😃🙏
You watch too old of a version. You should watch the Live Royal Albert Hall version.
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll definitely check out the Live Royal Albert Hall version. Wishing you a most flutifull day! 😄🙏
