- From an anchorspot to a marina. Yes, it's true. You will not see mee in a marina. I prefer the loneliness of being on anchor. But, for the next days there are some predictions of a strong breeze, so I decided to go to a marina. Since the distance is at least 55Nm, I start early. After a couple of hours I ask myself the question "What would Dutchies do in this situation?"

The 4 camera's I use to produce my outdoor footage, are so called PTZ - P(an) T(ilt) Z(oom). Zoom, I only use on the rear camera, when I am underway. As you have seen I use the pan and tilt a lot. And in the dark they produce a great (short view) infrared image. I even can navigate in a marina at night on my cams.
Since they all are so called "IP camera's", each have an unique (hardwired) IP address (no DNS) in my network.

This channel follows a format: "Join Henk-Jan, whilst he cruises on motorvessel Lady Liselot through The Netherlands and a little further". That's it. This automatically means: no boat tour and no boat jobs. These subjects do not fit the format. So, I aim to give you a feel for what life's like aboard for me and hope you enjoy it, perhaps relate to it or maybe even learn something. But it's simply my story and the way I do things. Nothing more, nothing less.

Waarom ik alles in het Engels doe?
Omdat ik video's kijk van Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers én heel veel Engelstaligen die allemaal Engels lullen en ook bootjesmensen / liveaboards zijn. Want alleen dan kan je je ervaring wereldwijd delen. En wat blijkt? Mijn video's worden in 127 landen bekeken (zie S03/E01 voor de lijst). Veel van mijn kijkers en abonnees zijn Engelstaligen die mijn video's helemaal top vinden, omdat ze óf familie hebben uit Nederland, of hier jaren geleden zijn geboren en door omstandigheden nu elders op de wereld wonen. En, dat ik dan Engels spreek met een accentje (net als de Fransen, Denen, Noren, Spanjaarden, Portugezen, Duitsers overigens) dan interesseert hen dat helemaal niets.
Oh en dan nog wat. Ik schrijf dit in het Nederlands, omdat vrijwel uitsluitend Nederlanders hier last van hebben, dus als je dit ken lesuh, lees het dan goed door: Deze video is bedoeld als entertainment. Vermaak. Geen "Zo moet het", geen "Ik weet het beter dus je moet deze video kijken," neen, puur vermaak. Dus, als jij tijdens het kijken er iets van vind, en je denkt dat je het beter weet, ga dan niet op een Facebook manier zitten zeiken, maar schrijf een compliment. Ik heb niet uren met dat bootje gevaren, en uren al het filmmateriaal zitten selecteren en zitten plakken, om vervolgens door een zeikstraal de les te worden gelezen. Doe je het wel, dan heb ik als eigenaar van dat kanaal een wonderknopje van TH-cam gekregen: "remove user from channel." Die gebruik ik regelmatig. Donder alsjeblieft op en ga op Facebook je onnoemelijke wijsheid delen of begin een bijbelgroepje en ga daar zitten preken.
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Klik op de video, en kies uit de iconen die rechtsonder verschijnen dan voor [ondertiteling] en kies daar voor Nederlands. Dan wordt zelfs mijn steenkolen Engels (knap he van die jongens en meisjes TH-cam) vertaald naar Nederlandsch.
Bow and stern thrusters are invaluable for anyone who is sailing their boat single handed whatever size boat. I also have a Dockmate (remote control for the thrusters and engine) which is fantastic. This enables me to manoeuvre the boat when docking single handed in virtually any situation. Another excellent video, thank you.
Dockmate is a wonderful tool indeed. When I was in Gothenburg there was a Selene 62. The owner handled the boat with easy due to the Dockmate. Glad you liked the video.

HI Henkjan, You have such a nice flybridge, but your are mostly steering inside. I wonder why?
I do not have navigation equipment on the fly and all furniture is mobile, so it moves on the deck when not strapped. Besides that, when on the fly I feel the movement of the boat even better because the height/momentum.
I can confirm headaches by denial of coffee: had dental surgery and was not allowed coffee for 5 days. Had the worst headaches ever for three days. Coffee(time)junkie.
And I only have 3 (people say very strong) coffee a day…

Storebæltsbroen (Great Belt Bridge) seen in the distance is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world (used to be the longest), spanning 1,624 m. Henk Jan went under West Bridge which is a box section bridge.

Was weer gezellig Henk. Tja, boegschroef lijkt me wel het minste als je solo vaart, hekschroef helemaal ideaal.
Zoals altijd zijn er weer heel veel huur-roeiboot en kano-kapiteins die het beter weten. En windstil lukt alles nietwaar?
Daarom heeft de beroepsvaart het ook niet. Nooit gezien, echt niet, alleen bij mensen die niet kunnen varen. Echt waar 😉
Kweet ut. Wat deze arm-leuning-schippers alleen niet weten is dat het scheepje van de beroepsvaart van staal is, en dit bootje van plastic, én een barge heeft een rechte romp, terwijl een jaggie als snel een andere
Vorm heeft. De barge of traditionele zeilboot, zet je even met een voorspring tegen het kantje, je vaart in de spring en de kont wijkt, of als je solo vaart dan doe je een achterspring en trek je de kop weg. Gaat heel simpel, ik heb het allemaal gedaan en vanwege het momentum van het schip is het een fluitje van twee cent.
Misschien leuk om te weten: de Store Belt brug is ge-engineerd door Nederlanders, Ballast Nedam, en ik denk ook gebouwd door Nederlanders. Collega’s van mij hebben er nog aan getekend. Deze zomer zeilden we er onderdoor, een brug om trots op te zijn.
Bijzonder, hoe wij Dutchies overal onze kont in weten te draaien. Het is een majestieuze brug, dat is zeker.
Op Anholt sprak ik een Deen die van de NS de opdracht heeft gekregen om een bepaald probleem op te lossen. Zo weten beide landen elkaar blijkbaar te vinden.
15:42 zo was ik ook altijd, mensen met een boegschroef kunnen niet varen. Maar hij gaat deze winter wel onder mijn zeilboot, de boegschroef dan. Ik heb geen afstandbediening en met mijn vrouw voor op het dek is het lastig. Het gaat rust aan boord geven. Stress hebben we al genoeg en daarvoor hebben we geen boot natuurlijk.
En zo leren we maar weer, dat we veel te snel oordelen en ergens een mening over hebben, terwijl we geen flauw benul hebben van de omstandigheden waarin iets plaatsvindt. "Ik vind het want ik vind het." Prima, maar als je het nou eens op deze manier bekijkt, vind je het dan nog steeds? "Uhhhh, tja als je het zo bekijkt..." en we leefden nog lang en gelukkig.
Hoi Henk, Dat was weer eens een mooie show naar Ballen met rustige zee gang later wat aantrekkend zag er weer gezellig uit en jij bent niet verslaafd aan de koffie maar de cafeïne dat zou kunnen daarom smachten wij in de ochtend het meest naar dat zwarte goedje 😉fijn weekend en tot volgende week

To see you and your trawler at the Oceanside in Denmark is a pleasure. To see the cashless digital pay system is horrible and tells in what kind of surroundings you are.
Nothing for us with our Trawler. Sorry Denmark we do not like that.
By the way we also avoid places in the Netherlands where cash is not accepted. No problem for US, but seems to get a bigger and bigger problems for the shops and restaurants as we see them closing one after the other! 👍😂

Have you seen a Payless Harbour for „Boatpeople“? In Germany? NO you haven’t! You have seen kind harbourmasters coming to you and you pay cash or digital. That’s why we love it in Germany.
By the way at many places in NL you see the same.
Those who want to force people into digital payment will soon loose their business. Good so!
@@hiopeenila8096 One issue with actual cash, is that the handling, counting, depositing etc adds expenses for the company itself. Getting a terminal is not an cost issue anymore. What is your real reason to not use digital/cards? Allergy?

Hi Henk Jan. I have been following you for a while and have noticed a white flag with a red circle on your bow. I would like to know what it i for. Thank you.
Hello Raymond, there are many ‘sign/signal’ flags that stand for a letter or a number. When I am outside The Netherlands I always have this ‘#1’ flag on the bow. In The Netherlands I often can handle harbour things by myself, but when elsewhere, it’s good to show others ‘upfront’ that I am sailing singlehanded. Many people with a sailboat who are sailing singlehanded flag this ‘#1’ in the backstay, and since sailors have the helm astern and have the flag above them. In my case I flag it upfront.
In case of emergency SAR people know they have to look for (only) one person.

Hi Henk-Jan, your new series is super, and it must also have been nice for yourself to get out and do some true navigation and routing again. The Danes built a bridge, actually two bridges across the Great Belt, and there is actually also a large tunnel for the trains, going under the water instead of up on the high bridge across the eastern part of the Great Belt (far too steep for trains). At time of finishing the eastern bridge it was the longest free spanning bridge - believe it's #3 nowadays. As a leisure boater it is recommended to cross the western bridge, as you did, but you are free to go under anywhere between the pillars where your vessel fits. The marked channels is good for night passage, and for larger vessels, but anyone can go there - in contrast to the high bridge (eastern) channel where only large vessels having to follow the TSS/DW are allowed. Smaller vessels can there pass through any of the other openings.
The island in the middle (Sprogø), has always been there, was for many years in the past used to house promiscuous women, that's another and more sad story. It was extended a bit to facilitate the trains to emerge into/from the tunnel.
Building a dike is not allowed in the straits of Denmark, according to an old international convention, stipulating free passage for all ships and all nations. Not like the old days...where the danish Kings claimed toll for any vessel to pass, and made a great profit from that. It worked well as long as southern Sweden was also danish territory and could shoot from both sides. Then the King lost another war and southern sweden was lost.... That's also partly why the Germans built the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal, to facilitate unrestricted entry with the Baltics.... Cheers :)

Ja, in ZN heb ik ze gezien. Op jouw advies daar heb ik 3 mooring hooks gekocht. Nooit gebruikt. Nog nieuw in de verpakking. ;-) zo heb ik ook nog 90m 20mm lijn liggen die ik wilde gebruiken voor het geval ik met de kont naar bomen toe zou gaan aanleggen. Nieuw in doos. ;-)
