Had the “what’s in the box” edition pre-ordered the day it was announced by Zavvi. Cancelled in March when it was clear there was no release date. I’ll wait.
I put my seven blu ray to play and I was surprised how strong this old transfer is.
It’s a great Blu-ray
I love that Fincher cares so much. I'm sure it's worth the wait. There's no chance he's going back to remaster Alien 3, for instance.

I've received an email about my pre order of se7en explaining what is going on behind the scenes and not to expect it until 2025.

Hoping the Seven 4k has a nice transfer whenever it releases
Something in the "What's in the Box" edition may not be revealed yet. Compared to "Ultimate" edition, it adds only an air freshener and 7 comic books, yet it's $70 more and seems to be in packaging 10 times larger. All that extra space wouldn’t be needed for just an air freshener and 7 comic books. Also, why is the air freshener only in the "What's in the Box" edition? What extra item could be included where it would make sense to add an air freshener? Something decaying? Well, just a heads up.

What ever happens I hope David Fincher is happy with it and starts to push for Fight Club to get a 4K release too.
Se7en is one of the best horror-adjacent flicks ever. Can't believe it's taken this long to get it on 4k! Cheers!

They probably want to bring it back to theaters before a 4k home release, in the Fall I imagine(Same with Elm Street).
The 8K remaster was screened at the Chinese Theater in hollywood a couple weeks ago. I'd planned on driving down (i live about an hour away) but something came up

I preordered the Box edition from Amazon UK, so I won't get charged for the item until it ships. If they keep my order, great; if not, I'll just wait and see what happens. But after seeing what happened with The Exorcist releases, (which is undoubtedly a much more important movie to Warner Bros.) IMO it's a guarantee we won't get a more interesting version of Se7en here in the States. Like, we didn't get a Church Hymnal version or nothing over here, just a Best Buy Steelbook that sold out before release date 😭

Social network is in the Columbia classics boxset. On the other hand, girl with the dragon tattoo and Gone girl already have a 4K digital intermediate. They just need the HDR grading.
I ended up cancelling my preorder in hopes we just get a US version instead of one that comes with a Blu-ray that is region locked that I can’t throw on Plex.
Amazon didn’t change theirs till after May 3rd. They actually sent me a email on May 2nd that it was in the process of shipping and was expected to be delivered on May the 3rd only to email me again on the third telling me it was pushed back.
At least your's was delayed, they just canceled mine with no explanation, they just said it wasn't available and automatically canceled the order ....
This is actually really good news. I'm happy they are taking extra care with the restoration. Film gain is what gives it that charm , just clean up and keep to true to the artistic source. Scrubbing and DNR is like all those artificial sweetners, colors, chemical flavors in your food....end up feeling unsatisfied.
I LITERALLY just finished taping an episode for tomorrow - talking about my disappointment with NOT receiving my Se7en 4K on May 3rd! I ordered the 'What's In The Box'...Edition...or whatever it's called. Just found today...that it may not be out until DECEMBER 2025! Thanks for all of the info and details.
I did order one of the big box sets and at this point can’t remember which one lol. I will say if it ends up being December 2025…that will really suck…

I only ever pre-ordered one film. The Abyss 4K. And I wouldn't have even pre-ordered it if the price had been higher than $25. Better to wait until it's in reviewers hands and you know it's available and good quality. Even better. if you wait till the next Black Friday sale and you can get it for cheaper.

I got an email from Amazon informing me of the release date changing and a link saying to click it to approve the delay. I have the faculty pre-ordered at Target and they sent me an email canceling my pre-order last week
I noted in the short comments from Fincher where he says he’s starting work on ‘Panic Room.’ Another movie that was announced last year and never came. Now we find he’s only just starting work on it. So we likely won’t see it til 2026 at this point…
Is the social network going to a physical 4k yes I know that it’s part of the Columbia classics set but I just want the social network and Se7en on 4k those and Fight Club are my favorite David Finncher movies

there are 2 possibilities…
1 waiting for 1995 to call it 30th anniversary edition
2 more time is needed to do the hdr version… in theatres you dont need the hdr version which is why it was shown recently… but fincher talked about blown out windows and stuff which might only concern the hdr version which might still be worked on…
best guess is still the 30th anniversary though…🤓

Does anyone else have the blu ray version of Se7en and can’t hear a thing the actors are saying? I hear more of the music than the dialogue. I almost wanted to return it but I think others have the same experience?
i think i remember having this problem. then again i always have subtitles so i pay more attention to the words on the screen rather than trying to hear the voices

Sounds like they are putting this back an extra year to capitalize on the 30th anniversary. I'm not surprised, but I don't understand how it really matters. People who want it, will buy it as soon as possible.
I heard in March was pencilled in for early jMay, guess maybe another rumour, but warners have not handled this very well.
There had always been something fishy to me about this announcement from the beginning for some reason
Once again, WB leaves it to the UK to put out magnificent editions of their masterpieces while they can barely be bothered to print a digital code slip for their own US cases. "Oh yeah, just photoshop a still picture and slap it on the slipcover, they like slipcovers." I AM NOW DEMANDING THAT HENCEFORTH THE UK DISTRIBUTORS be given the budget to produce US versions of their UK releases so we can actually get to them and not have to fight 50,000 people for 2,000 copies.
Maybe the fans aren't not that experts after all about film, transfers, grain, bytes, nits, HDR and so the list goes on. Nobody except for the filmmaker, knows exactly how the film is intended to look. Not even at the theater we got the guaranteed filmmaker original intention. We get the best possible transfer to consume at home sadly not knowing how exactly the original was.
I want as many of Fincher’s films in 4K as possible but he’s a known perfectionist so I hope he doesn’t pull a Cameron on us and DNR them to death. I want Se7en, Fight Club is a missed opportunity cuz this year is the 25th anniversary. I know you already brought up Panic Room. I’d also like to see The Game, Zodiac, Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl. I doubt Alien 3 will see the light of day as he disowns it.
The Game is incredible. Definitely need that.

I just bought a Panasonic ub820 and it's awesome. It will play 4k, bluray, and DVD. I recommend it

Bill Hunt in particular has been full of crap lately. He actually lied about the Aliens 4K release, claiming that the original negatives were scans for the new release, which is bullshit. AI upscaling was used on the previous 1080p versions to get the "4K" version we ended up with. He also talked about how the rest of the Cameron collection "looked fantastic" and yet somehow...they absolutely don't. Especially True Lies, which looks like absolute garbage.
I don’t think it’s lies more so than 4K is just a very subjective format. Everyone seems to have their own take on how it should look.
@@midlevelmedia He absolutely lied when he claimed they scanned the original negatives. They didn't. And sure, you could argue people looking like they had extremely heavy botox treatments is all "subjective", but just like Terminator 2 in 4K, there's subjectivity, and there's that.
