Ase Baba! Every culture has its own word for the Universal Creator and their own way of worship. Why can't we be left alone to worship in the ways of our Ancestors without scorn? God is God no matter what name or ritual you use. When the Ooni of Ife visited Philadelphia, he admonished the native Yoruba for not teaching their children the Yoruba language. Dr. Wande Ambimbola was there and said the same. He said they do not speak or teach Yoruba in the schools in Yorubaland. Shame! They both said if not for us African Americans and Latinos embracing the religion/culture it would disappear. However, it won't disappear because our African Ancestors that came through the Middle Passage live through us and have brought it forward. Some of the Africans I encounter act like they are ashamed of their spiritual traditions. That is a slap in the face to their ancestors. I for one will continue honoring my African Ancestors and Olodumare by practicing our God-given spiritual traditions, not the traditions of our enslavers. Maferefun Egun! Modupe to the Araba for this message.
The parents must be more steadfast in nurturing their children in the ways of their progenitors. Even today the parents eve discourage the children from speaking Yoruba or dressing alike.
....there is no area of the globe where the european hasn't brought havac....no part...and what's so crazy is the fact that this same destructive mentality had nothing until they happened upon Africa...Isese Araba.... Baba...
