Just a little update, I have no complaints on the Millercat Shield. More importantly I want to thank everyone that has used my discount code, I really appreciate it so much as it helps fund my channel so I can make more content for you guys.
Dang really? That sucks! 😡Did you have to purchase OEM catalytic converters? In California our emissions are strict and we have to either get CARB approved ones or OEM which are $2000 😔
For those installing the shield, the thickest cat shield is really heavy. It's a challenge trying to install laying under the ground. Especially if you are a bit bigger of a guy/gal.
I have a video of the install for the heavy duty version too, I can’t speak in terms how it would be for a bigger person but the weight of the shield was manageable for me :th-cam.com/video/rD6xPCi9vLI/w-d-xo.html
I have bought the shield and will be installing it soon. However, here is a question. It seems that all the thieve has to do is to purchase the special bit (maybe the whole kit) from MillerCat company or somewhere else. Then simply remove the screws from the side plate/s and cut the CC out. Am I missing something? I have decided to have the side shields welded. Thus, making it much harder to gain access to the front section of CC. According to pictures I have seen, even with the plate, the back section of the CC is accessible to the sawsall.
Yes, but most thieves will not go through all the trouble of unscrewing all the screws. Most of these thefts happen in less than 2 minutes because they are trying to avoid getting caught. Definitely if you want to weld it would add an extra step of security. Every cat shield is not 100% theft proof it’s just to deter them or delay them long enough for them to either give up or get caught. The driver side cat wing doesn’t cover the cat completely for smog purposes in California I believe but yes they can cut behind the cat but they cannot cut in front which is the most important thing so they cannot take your cat. Hope this helps and thanks for watching 🤙
Hey do you notice if your air conditioning moisture leaks onto the shield and collects there? I noticed my ac moisture barely leaks now onto the ground.
Hi can you send me the product link which one will fit my toyota tacoma trd sport 2021 ? Thanks . so i can by to install on my car. I have 4 doors and 3.5L 4wd model

No rattles or noises on mine, do you have the exact product model? Because I know they made a newer thicker version that’s 12 gauge SS, mines 16ga I believe.
Yikes! You got lucky they got my dad twice two different trucks too. Even though the insurance covered it he had to pay a $500 deductible and was out a vehicle for a few weeks. I would highly recommend the MillerCat either it will help deter them or give you enough time to catch them in the act again. Please use my discount code TCL if you do consider one. Thanks for watching 🤝
@@TheCastLife thanks bro... ordering it today for my Tacoma... they did hit my Accord last year and now have an aftermarket cat.. they dont seem to care for those too much...thinking they only want OEM cats..
@@TheCastLife yea bro... i am gonna also spray paint them as well to anbright ass color... so with the paint and shield..hopefully it will deter them.. hows yours holding up since you install it? They out of the stainless so I need to get the aluminum one..
Yeah it’s holding up great no issues, unlike some other shields out there that have rattles and can take up to 5 weeks to receive. MillerCat’s shipping was super fast I received it within a few days. I’m sure the aluminum should be fine, that was the one I originally wanted.
@@TheCastLife I just received my Millercat shield yesterday, also for 3rd gen Tacoma (2023 TRD Off Road), and looking over the instructions, it includes a small tube of threadlocker and recommends using it on every bolt. Maybe our kits are different? I ordered the steel 12-gauge version, so maybe that's why? Thanks for sharing this video, I'll definitely be referencing it to help install my own! :)
I believe what you got was the new thicker version because mine didn’t come with thread lock. I’m sure they want you to use thread lock on the bolts if they provided it.
@@TheCastLife Yeah that's what it is. The thicker version has countersunk bolts which sit flush, so there's no lock washers that come with it, so I guess the threadlock is needed instead. I just installed my shield last night, and your video was a HUGE help. Cheers!
The fackin factory should install these at the time of manufacture! JFC, Toyota, Honda, GM, Ford...these corporations aren't retarded, they know catalytic converters are targeted for theft, they just don't give a damn about their customers. Peace.
Not a CARB complaint one, I live in California and emissions are strict you can’t just replace the OEM catalytic converter with a generic eBay one. Plus wait times are long because they’re on back order.

If you have a manual transmission, the shields will have to come off to change the tranny fluid.
@katosandog same thing goes for the Automatics
Hey do you notice if your air conditioning moisture leaks onto the shield and collects there? I noticed my ac moisture barely leaks now onto the ground.
I’m not sure I haven’t checked, I’ll keep you posted.
Question is do you need to remove the plate to change transmission oil??
Yes but with an impact gun it’ll take maybe 10 minutes to take off.
Question: Why did you remove the crossbars completely just to put them back on with different bolts before installing the shield?
Because clearance issues and Millercat provides security bolts for the cross bars so that the shield cannot be removed with a normal socket wrench.

How do you torque the bolts to those specs you put on the screen?
I have a torque wrench, but if you don’t have one just don’t over tighten the screws.
Is it normal for yours to rattle when you hit a dip? Mine seems to rattle all the time while going through a dip

@@TheCastLife thank you for the reply mine does rattle and I only have the 16ga :/ do you know where I could get it checked out?
Does the shield need to be removed to change the engine oil?
No, it doesn’t touch the factory skid plate and it works with TRD pro skid plate too.
Thanks for the quick reply.
How about for the transmission fluid change?
No problem, this cat shield covers the transmission pan so unfortunately you’ll to take it apart.
I need to get one...they tried last night but i was able to chase them off...but i may not be too lucky next time...thanks

That sucks, yeah OEM cats are way more desirable as they hold more precious metals that’s why they’re so expensive to purchase.

Can you still do an oil change with it on?
Yes, it doesn’t interfere with the factory skid plate.

There is no protection cat man. California need allow gasoline cars go straight pipe.
Yeah that’s not happening, only way you’re getting a straight pipe is on an electric vehicle.
