Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoy the analysis that ruined my life for nearly 3 weeks haha. Just a couple of notes I noticed upon rewatching: 1) 52:35 Andre can't count. **Looks at length** So, THAT'S why it took so long! Also, because the analysis in 90 minutes long, and the trailer is 90 SECONDS, that means that the analysis spends on average one minute per second.
31:00 "We think that clear pipes don't act as barriers" Literally a minute later: *Shows ant troopers walking up-side-down on a clear pipe in the artwork
This might be a stretch, but I think the 3D World style might have some sort of layering system? Going off how the Banzai Bills work in 3D and how they head to the foreground. Therefore, you *MIGHT* be able to move between the foreground and the background (think something like Crash Bandicoot's side-scrolling levels) OR, like in other Mario games, have overlays such as the curtains in Bowser's Castle from SMW or the hidden passages in New Super Mario Bros. ?

I didn't think I could be anymore hype for the game but after watching this my hype has doubled. I knew this video was coming but I've already watched a lot of the top Mario Maker youtubers analyze the trailer so I didn't really think I'd see anything here that I hadn't already seen but boy was I wrong! I saw the time and thought this entire video was just going to be verbose nonsense that could've been summarised in 10 minutes... but it wasn't somehow! How did you manage to find 90 minutes worth of details in a 90 second trailer without stretching the video? This entire video is packed full of content, quite a surprise!
21:56 WOW! Practically 22 minutes just dedicated to the interface. PHEW. Now thats a lot of content. I haven’t finished the video yet but I’m in awe so far. Mario Maker 2 has THIS much content?! Enough to turn 1 minute into AN HOUR AND A HALF?! I’m stating to think that Mario Maker 2 will be the biggest 2D mario game yet.
HOLY ****** i thought there wouldnt be an Analysis sice its been 2 weeks now and you may thought it was all to obvious... and then you give us this masterful long video
I think the banzai bill spinning and then stopping is intended to telegraph when they are in the same plane as the player, as without an indication like that, it can be difficult to tell when it’s safe to pass in front of them
16:17 You actually missed A HUGE detail... camera is 1 block higher than it used to be in Mario Maker 1 if you recreate the level from beginning of the trailers in original Super Mario Maker and compare camera position you will see that camera is 1 block higher, which means that finally there won't be any of that really annoying "I don't know what i'm jumping into and then hitting spike outside of the view" thing... P.S. I'm not sure if watching 90 minutes of a video to confirm you missed it was worth it, but I did watch I suppose.
@@rgkong8783 I can't really claim that I actually found it... I find it important but it was first spotted by Ceave Gaming and that is where I saw it for the first time.
Just because it's NOT in the trailer does NOT mean they're NOT in the Game! I believe that this is only a taste of what's to come, I think there's going to be (a lot) more than JUST this!
that is partly right and wrong.. right- Just like what your saying "Just because it's NOT mean they're NOT in the game". wrong- It's an analysis of what can be observed in the trailer and some prediction. He's not saying " this is the only things can be found in SMM2".
You guys need to chill. You turned a trailer and one image into a HOUR AND A HALF video. The content of this channel has become very good lately, and I hope you keep it up. We are now entering the golden age of Gamexplain.
Mario being bound on the top and bottom by objects is about the most fundamental aspect of the game I can imagine. I don’t think that’s it. Also, why would they showcase a bug in a carefully curated trailer?
Yeah, like why would they make the transparent pipe collision less even though the original game, and even in this gameplay it shows collision detection happening.
Amazing analysis! Just a few things I would like to shed some light on, though... 1. The separation of Coins and Key Coins, as well as Monty Moles and Rocky Wrenches, is likely due to their functional differences. Key Coins are more limited than normal Coins (for instance, they can't be put inside blocks, given wings, or put on rails), while Monty Moles and Rocky Wrenches _behave_ completely differently; Montys chase you, while Rockys are stationary and throw projectiles. Of course, some object still seem to share slots, like Green and Red Koopa Troopas, but since they're much more similar than the aforementioned coins and moles, this is more justified. 2. The purple Crystal Blocks in 3D World may not just cosmetic, as in 3D World proper they had a unique distinction: Crystal Blocks *never contain items.* As they otherwise act identically to Brick Blocks, you could probably obtain Crystal Blocks by shaking them. As Mario Maker is a level creator, having Blocks that are guaranteed to be breakable AND empty would be nice to help level designers telegraph what is supposed to be done in their levels. This is the same reason Flimsy Lifts are blue, while normal Lifts are red/yellow: it instantly communicates the object's function to the player, and gives them an edge in the potentially endlessly cruel chaos of user-created levels. Just a thought.
The movie adaptation of this analysis was nice, but I'm really looking forward to the TV series. If it stretches over multiple seasons, GameXplain will be able to really flesh out the plot.
Thank you so much for this Andre! I know it was hell to make it render and to put together, but you have overcome it, and we all appreciate your amazing effort!
I just want you to know that your amazing analyses are why I subscribed! You had me with the 2-hr Zelda analysis, and I've been here ever since. You work hard for your fans!
53:10 Toad is literally just above the block, because he is most certainly bouncing off the trampolin, giving it a bump. Just like in the orignal game....
MayroSMM suggested in his video that you could toggle day and night for every level theme, which would explain the SMBU Ice theme taking place during day and the change of color for the SMW Ghost House vertical level; notice the color in the windows in the background. For the SMBU jungle theme's night variant, they could've just reused the stars from the ice theme's night variant, potentially as a placeholder, like with SM3DW's semisolid terrain using SMBU's image as a placeholder.
This has got to be one of the most satisfying things Ive watched in a while, kudos to you Andre, it must've been tough watching this go on and on! Oh wait, is that another trailer coming???
wow, uh, i did not expect this to be so full of details. i thought itd just be a big pretentiously explained boring verbose lil video, stretched ungodly but no, you managed to actually come up with many theories, sound and not so sound arguments and explanations for things. this is a really well crafted little video, thank you and i hope you get out that game pad!
If this analysis is any indication, we're gonna be for quite a ride with Super Mario Maker 2. My initial reaction from the trailer was, "Christ! This game is gonna be massive!"
Andre, I am floored by the sheer amount of details you found and effort you all put into it! This was extremely interesting to watch and think about all the questions you proposed, and I am more hyped for Mario maker 2 than ever!!! Videos like these just prove time and time again that GameXplain is the best out there. Now go and take a break for me!
Wait. That's actually an awesome idea! Imagine, you could, like, customize your items. There could be different colored coins, different colored enemies, different colored platforms! It would be awesome.
@@holczy0 I think one day they should implement the Land games as themes, and instead of making them black and white like usual, actually allowing you to edit the colour pallette to some extent, whether it be a simple colour tint, or actually allowing players to edit all shades of colour on the gameboy with a colour wheel. Could lead to some awesome levels aesthetics.
This is so much more well-done than any other analysis out there of this game. This was well worth the wait. You pointed out and discussed so many things I never noticed at all, and that so many others didn't even bother to iterate. I can't imagine how many times you must have run through that trailer to discover all these details. Great job indeed, Andre. That was pretty great. GameXplain never ceases to deliver with the Analysis Machine.
At this Length it’s game explain The feature-length movie it would be very cool if something this good could have a $.99 tear or $1.50 tear or something like that because the content is so long but Andre you’re amazing
@@tamalemuncher789 I guess it is :3 Your right! I thought because of the parashute they were called that but I guess with the wings on them there called that! I always called them wing goombas lol. Silly me! Sorry for mixing them up 😊
There's one reason I can plausibly see for not making the options consistent throughout the game modes: they're going to include more Super Mario games than just 3D World that differ from the norm. They COULD have the classic four games share all their options, and then make 3D World separate. But that seems too confusing for Nintendo's philosophy. However if they made ALL the game modes different, that would open up the floodgates for more options. They could include Super Mario 2 without worrying about including turnips or Shy Guys in other modes. They could make Sphinxes and Moi heads exclusive to Super Mario Land. It would make it a lot easier to add more games.
This has to be one of my fav vids from u guys ever! This was so well edited, funny, and even after watching the trailer a million times this vid showed there are still SO much more I didn't see! This was a phenomenal vid! Keep of the work!
27:52 OBJECTION! Actually, I believe there may still be a chance for some of these 3D World Power-ups to appear. In the beginning of the trailer, when you look at the item wheel for the SMW style, do you notice something's...missing from it? Despite the fact that we see Mario riding Yoshi in the SMW Jungle section, the Yoshi Egg is surprisingly nowhere to be found! Odd, right? Well, personalIy I think this proves that you'll be able to unlock more tools as you progress through the game, including an additional wheel of power-ups in each style. So for example, the SMW could have the Yoshi Egg, the three other colored eggs (Red,Blue & Yellow), and the P-Balloon, while in 3D World, due to the inconsistency between enemies between styles, you could have a variety of power-ups like the Boomerang Flower, Cannon Box, and/or Mega Mushroom make an appearance in the 2nd wheel. This is still all speculation of course, but I thought it was an interesting detail nonetheless. :>
the problem with this theory is that _yoshi_ is replaced by the _shoed goomba_ in half the game styles, which is an enemy, not a powerup. most likely, the _yoshi_ / _shoed goomba_ is on the miscellaneous wheel with everything else that didn't fit neatly into any of the set categories.
sirmoonslosthismind Fair point, but I would still find it odd if they put the Yoshi Egg in the “key” category since it technically has attributes that make it more of an item/powerup (Extra hit, adds a new ability to Mario’s moveset, etc.) rather than a mechanism/tool for puzzles, which is what the “key” section seems to be focused on. Plus, they could easily have the Goomba Shoe as a separate item and have a Goomba put into a shoe via a toggle option.
it's entirely possible certain assets for certain game themes aren't finished and thus not ready to be shown/used; i wouldn't be surprised if the object selection ends up being more consistent in the final compared to this trailer
Me: Eh, I don’t really like movies. I don’t want to take time out of my day to watch one. Also me: AN HOUR AND A HALF LONG MARIO ANALYSIS? HELL YEAH!!!
@@ultimatebreak827 It is 90. 1:30 seconds translates to 90 seconds. Here's that in 1st grade math for you. There are 60 seconds in 1 minute and 30 seconds in half a minute. 30 + 60 = 90. So, in turn, I suggest you go back to elementary school before you correct me again. I rest my case.
This is impressive how much he came across in just a minute and 28 seconds. The BotW analysis was a behemoth, but this video was done with the fraction of content and it was 30 minutes shorter.

You didn't hold back nor stretch anything out, really good job on this one!
I think that they're still working on most of the stuff, since they did mention after the trailer that they were still playing around with stuff, so they may have just not finished the 3D/8-bit models of several items
First of all, I don’t think there will be that many 3D world exclusives. Secondly, I agree with a lot of stuff in this video Lastly, I Watched this whole vid instead of doing homework:P

@@Mr_Mimestamp 59:28 I'm not sure if it was intentional, but he said: "...such as CRATEing a staircase you can climb..."

Absolutely agreed
*Crosses fingers for SMB2 theme...*
Dude,i totally agree
that is partly right and wrong..
right- Just like what your saying "Just because it's NOT mean they're NOT in the game".

@@FormulaFanboy never happening dude, smb2 isn't even a Mario game
You guys need to chill. You turned a trailer and one image into a HOUR AND A HALF video. The content of this channel has become very good lately, and I hope you keep it up.
We are now entering the golden age of Gamexplain.
How do you know that the golden age is now? These analyses are just getting better and better. Maybe the golden age will be a few years from now.
Lately?
It’s longer and more beautiful than I ever imagined
I think the whole pipe thing is just bad collision detection since the game is in development
Yeah exactly
Thats what he siad
Mario being bound on the top and bottom by objects is about the most fundamental aspect of the game I can imagine. I don’t think that’s it. Also, why would they showcase a bug in a carefully curated trailer?
Yeah, like why would they make the transparent pipe collision less even though the original game, and even in this gameplay it shows collision detection happening.
Yeah you actually see mario hit his head on the pipe in the underwater section
You did it. You made a video longer than some movies with nothing but good content. My hats off to you Andre. Wow, just wow.
Ever since Andre’s BotW analysis, that’s when I knew GameXplain truly lives up to their name. Never under estimate these guys!
Just a thought.
finally an analysis that doesn't just point out the obvious
I like how you guys have been jazzing up how the logo looks in the thumbnail recently.
53:12 I think it's because Toad is bouncing on it.
I was just about to post this. I feel like this is 100% the case.
MetaBlazer I was literally just about to post this
I was going to post this yesterday but my fingers got tired. Then today I found your comment so I no needs to.
Nice observation. That makes sense.
The movie adaptation of this analysis was nice, but I'm really looking forward to the TV series. If it stretches over multiple seasons, GameXplain will be able to really flesh out the plot.
40:44 on the far right side of the screen you can see that banzai bills can kill other enemies in its path
Yup
An hour and thirty minutes and they've still miss something. Egadds if this trailer is anything to go by, SMM2 will be the best game to date.

Aww thank you so much!

*one pixel is different on a coin*
"COULD THIS MEAN WE HAVE MORE CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS FOR COINS????"

It makes sense that 3D World doesn't share assets with the other styles, since if it did, it would essentially be a clone of New Super Mario Bros U.
Now this is what I expect from GX. Truly outdoing themselves
And this is why GameXplain rocks. Andre, you and the others truly are dedicated.
53:10 the lower one has less of a bump because toad has just jumped on the higher one!
Damm this be a featured Length film
Plus, they could easily have the Goomba Shoe as a separate item and have a Goomba put into a shoe via a toggle option.
you guys outdone yourselves, this is BOTW all over again
WAIT! In the 3D world theme, there were only three dots in enemy spinner category, not four!
it's entirely possible certain assets for certain game themes aren't finished and thus not ready to be shown/used; i wouldn't be surprised if the object selection ends up being more consistent in the final compared to this trailer
I know that
@@Dr_Tapeworm koizumi said in the announcement video that more features and elements are in development
I sure hope so, I want to see what the car looks like in 8-bit.
Even if the enemies aren’t finished. It would be very odd for them to not at least have placeholders
If there are new types of background themes, that might mean new themes for the 8bit option...YES
