  • I used some salon 40 to whiten some yellowed OGK performe mags. it worked surprisingly well
    NOTE. Its better to take out the axle, bearing and bolts etc before taping and applying cream.. makes job much easier. Better for metal to avoid contact imo.

    Guys salon care works for all kinds of stuff... If you have a pair of Nike shoes and the midsole is yellowing like they always do use salon care leave them in the sun. Just make sure you only put on midsole and don't leave them too too long.
    How about a comic book cover which the white is dirty and yellow? Salon Care. Any types of plastic that has turned yellow... Salon care!
    Old Nintendo that has turned yellow.... Salon care!!! I can keep going

      They color has faded back more yellow since I first did it/ Overall i would day it held up pretty good. I might give them another go at some point. No sealant or UV blocker.

    I have another question....after you left it in the sun in the wrap and flipped them....what did you do when you unwrap them? Do you rinse them off with water or wipe them down?

    • @kidwilson3357
      @kidwilson3357  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty sure I rinsed them off in the sink and used a tiny scrub brush to get into all the crevices. I think I cleaned them with Simple Green as well. Overall pretty easy to do. I left mine out on a very Hot Sunny day as well. Cheers

    I got ogk's cmong that are decently wjite but inside around the hubs area on the spaces you can see some yellowing,im gonna go ahead and soak that visible area down and do this. I bleched gt tomahwk mags back in 2010 and its worked somewhat but i heard this is better

Tomorrow gonna clean them both with soft scub a bit but its just gonna be cloudy here for next 3-4 day so ill have to wait. Just the rear wheel in the hub area had some yellowing inside the pockets thats about it. Gonna wait till next week to do the vol 40 when its hot and sunny again.

    Brother that is awesome. Nice GT's btw! I have a Diamond Back Strike Zone in Magenta with white mags and I plan on following exactly what you did. My mags are pretty off white. Have any suggestions for a slightly rust dotted crank and laid back seat post? Also my seat post has a very slight bend to it and may need replaced ....anywhere to get anything like that? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    • @kidwilson3357
      @kidwilson3357  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A great place to find info and old parts for sale is Bmx museum. com There are quite a few way to get rust off the cranks etc. White vinegar can work if you soak them. Oxalic acid bath is also effective. Search in the bmx museum forums and You tube and you will be sure to find info on removal. Ebay and the museum are probably the best bet to find parts. I hope this helps.
