Key piece of info missing is the current temperature. Even on dry pavement a lot of what makes snow tires good in the winter is the compound is optimized for maximum traction in freezing temperatures.
A 10% difference is important but if you use those track tires on a track covered in black ice the difference would be a at more than 10%. This shows that it’s much more important to to remember to put on your snow tires than it is to remember to take them off.
I notice a big difference in my 21 model 3 duel motor from the stock all seasons to Michelin X-ice . I actually lost my first race to a little BMW tonight and I think I lost time in my 0-60 because of the winter snow tires I would love to see u guys do a 0-60 comparison between the two !!
I'm curious at what temperature the summer tire gives up it's advantage and becomes hard as a rock? BMW used to say never try to roll a summer tire below 40 degrees.
Just under 10% slower on a track with plenty of corners. As this is either all acceleration, braking or turning, the slogan would be "Is sacrificing 10%* in dry conditions worth your safety in inclement conditions? You bet your life it is!" ;) (*just under turning, acceleration and braking) Now time to test a good all weather with the "mountain & snowflake" symbol. Like Continental All Season Contact, Nokian Weatherproof and Uniroyal AllSeasonExpert 2, or similar.
No mention of the fact the snow tyre car had the roof rack on and the performance tyre run had a second person in it.
OK now do the reverse and run on the same track in mid-January when it's covered in snow & ice. ;)
Exactly what I was thinking 🤔
From boosted boiz show us some content Blake

Would be good to see a test with Michelin CrossClimate tyres. Agree with other comments about two people and roof rack differences.
Awesome video, I love the way you guys use any excuse to rip around the track! ☺️
