I didn't initially like the tone in Taylors own launch video, I thought it sounded compressed. However, Baxter is making it sound pretty great here, I must admit!
Beatiful guitar, and kudos to Andy Powers on his work. I think Taylor as a company got a little “over their skis” when they scrapped X bracing on the standard line. This guitar it seems is where Andy is going (along with grand pacific); I believe it would be best to keep standard bracing and the tone improvements on their regular line (thin finish, proteins glues etc) and use models like this new one to let Andy move his vision forward. But hey, I’m just a guy on the internet 😆 Taylor is a great company and I do appreciate their innovation!
Question - How would you compare the "Super Auditorium" size & shape to the old GS (Grand Symphony)? The discussions make me think the two are very similar (and I loved the GS!).
This is the ONLY demo that makes this guitar sound great! Okay, not the only, there's a UK glasses fella that also plays well. All the rest were just meh. You REALLY know how to bring out the full tone of an acoustic, mate! Hats off to you!
baxter made it sound amazing here in drop D, every other video it sounds thin and compressed. interesting. i feel like this guitar is misplaced and taylor has lost its identity. a new headstock, a new logo and the complete removal of bob from the label leaves a bad taste in my mouth. the new body shape using an existing model nomenclature of a x14 makes no sense. it’s confusing to all the customers. a koa “gold label” should be a k14 “gold label” as the 800: have always been rosewood back/sides. with such a departure from what is taylor, it would have been better served as another line with andy’s name - like the powers electric. the inlay on the pick guard and the fact there is a pick guard on a high end “taylor” also is a departure from bob’s design language. it feels like taylor is trying to capture a new audience and has completely lost touch with the passionate fans who helped them turn successful. the direction taylor has taken over the last 8 years has really saddened me, i won’t be supporting them with my wallet anytime soon.
Thanks for the input! AFAIK their sales weren't going well last year, so it seems they're throwing everything they can on the wall. The Legacy serues reviving X bracing, this new guitar with a lot of bew features, they're just testing what works and what doesn't. The naming is absolutely off, like Martin making spruce-topped 17 series.
I am overwhelmed by so many guitars being made. There must be a plethora of guitar players today. The prices are increasing! Who is spending $4,000 - $8,000 on guitars. I struggled to justify purchasing a CEO 7 and an 0 18.
Just bought one. Stunning sound!

I think it helps that mic seems aimed right at the sound hole
As always Baxter, watching you play is incredibly inspiring! ✌️❤️🎸
Love this guitar ❤
Nice review Baxter!
It sounds beautiful! The overtones you expect from koa with just enough bass!
Fantastic tone, this might be the best jumbo from Taylor I ever heard.
The Hawaiian’s will love that sound. Slack Key Heaven.

I like it.
I really think that Taylor should have offered the same neck shape from the Grand Pacific Builders Edition line that would have been the chef's kiss.
Beautiful!

Taylor is certainly moving the bar Upward

Nice. ❤❤❤
I’m a Martin man but this is one to remember
Yes but for $4800.00, I would buy a Martin...or two!
How do the electronics work?
Nice, but I like my Hsienmo D-45.
The neck can be adjusted without removing it or even loosening the strings!
This guitar may say "Taylor" on the headstock but it has Andy's DNA all over it.
Andy did the impossible and got Baxter to play an acoustic!
This wouldn't be such a bad impulse purchase
I don’t care for the mahogany bridge. It might even be rosewood I’m not sure but I’m not crazy about it. I like ebony bridges.

that headstock though...

Actually a decent sounding Taylor!
However Furch has superior guitars for thousands less!
Put it in standard tuning
If you have played one, you've played em all
This 100% sounds like a j200 is supposed to sound but never does
Could the average working musician afford $5k?
Maybe not for a Taylor koa jumbo.
Most important.. The baby Taylor, Taylor Swift addition? That's a joke right?
