I am so very proud to be such a big part of this Guitar. Working for Taylor for 21 years, this guitar is probably the most excited I have been for the world to see. I get the privilege of being the R&D neck specialist for Andy along with taking these necks from R&D to production and all should know that all of Taylor poured their heart and soul into this Guitar.

Was there consideration at some point to put a more vintage specd neck profile on these? Thanks for all you do

    • @daviddoherty8194
      @daviddoherty8194 6 วันที่ผ่านมา

@ vintage spec? Scale length and body fret is common to most Taylor necks, the only thing that has changed is the neck to body joint, well and the crown and logo but that’s only for the Gold Label Series! It’s a floating heel that no longer needs shims to set action/neck angle.

Great sounding guitar, nice looking, technically advanced. And the sustain is compelling. Another great demo, Cooper. But it’s just natural to have both you and Chris showing us these guitars. You each add a separate dynamic that helps present the whole picture. Andy is amazing. Love Taylors

I have been a fan of Taylor guitars since 1999 and have owned quite a few, different tone woods and body sizes. This is a radically new sound, but to my old ears it still sounds like a Taylor. I think this is what Bob wanted, a true guitar artist using the immense resources of Taylor to design new guitars that can still be manufactured rather than hand built. I am probably never going to own one of these due to being retired with encroaching arthritis in my hands. I look forward to hearing one in person played by someone of Cooper’s skill.

I think that Bob Taylor story about asking about the tone vs playability shows a very wise approach to what matters for sales as well as musicians. Can’t have a successful company without both of those factors. Big difference from brands that think they know best and don’t ask their audience for feedback.

Love Taylors, I've purchased a 714CE and a GS Mini. The one thing I don't like is the ornamentation. Specifically, the fretboard inlay. Both Gibson and Martin have distinctive and beautiful inlays on their high end models, Taylor's almost seem drawn on. I'd encourage them to look at what other guitar makers are doing, Collings Electrics are a good example.

Interesting how, last time Taylor introduced a new body shape they did so at the bottom of the American range with a fairly cheap instrument, with an 800 series following, while this time they introduced the new shape right at the top of the range. Is there going to be a 314 Super auditorium size guitar? And surely this will not stay part of size 4; size 3 is free, I think. The shape resembles what some other manufacturers called a small jumbo.

That new neck joint… 🤔 Who’s going to sue who? Furch vs Taylor/Taylor vs Furch? Or are the two mechanisms sufficiently different to avoid patent infringement? Have you guys (who have seen both up close) any thoughts?
In any case, it’s a nice guitar, but for my tastes the Honduran rosewood version sounds far better. (Michael Watts demo’s the rosewood on his channel.)

I have been playing guitar for over 44 years and I have many Taylors, including a 28 year old 814ce and I love them all, and they all sound good to me on and off the stage. I do like the looks and sound of this one, but at my age I have shelved the Taylors and now use only my Martin 000-28ec.
I just wish Taylor would make the same style of guitar as the Martin as well.
For me at this age, the Martins neck (soft V) which is thicker and the small body (000-28) suit me well, and the sound that comes from that small body guitar is nothing short of amazing.
Honestly, If Taylor made a guitar like that, I would buy it in a heart beat as i have many Taylors and only one Martin...oh yeah, and please make it more affordable.
Just my 2 cents worth. Peace.

My comments on the demo still stands. I love ya Cooper, but u often play something different for each guitar. Chris plays the same songs so i can hear different styles of playing and i can compare the different shades of tone. Its why i keep coming back to your reviews. I love your skilled playing, but i don't get a contrast in playing styles and how they sound. You dont have to play the same songs as Chris, but the consistency in what you would play helpse and probably compare with other models and how they sound.

Looks identical to a classic GS (Grand Symphony) body shape. I do see the dimensions are very close on Taylor's website, but why enough to warrant a new body? New brightness in tone is nice, but I bet most of that is coming from the decision to use bone bridge pins. Try putting bone pins as replacement for Taylor's Ebony pins on any Taylor model, you'll hear a difference. Might like it, might not, but it's close to what I'm hearing coming through in this online demo.... The new shim-less adjustable neck joint is nice, but Furch introduced something that seemingly operates exactly the same way two months ago.... Wonder who got that patent first? There is absolutely nothing about this Golden Label collection that harkens back to guitars from the 1930s-1940s. I don't know what Kol-Aid Andy Power's is drinking or what alternate universe he's dreaming up here, maybe that's the idea, like an alt-universe guitar from the 1930s Andy Power's envisions? Oh well, regardless it's his candy store, we're all just visiting.

I don't like it and love it all at the same time. I don't like it because it no longer looks or sounds like a classic Taylor but I also love this because it is a cool guitar. I fear Andy is bringing Taylor in a specifically Andy Powers direction. I love a lot of the things he did as he came on. I honestly love Andy and probably everything he does, but a Taylor needs to be a Taylor. I own several and love them. They have a Taylor thing. If he named it differently, I might not be having this reaction. That being said a Martin sounds like a martin, a Gibson like a Gibson... A Taylor needs to sound like a Taylor.

I’ve owned and failed to connect with Taylor, Collings and Fender all for the same reason. Either glue disrupts top-end or bolt dampens low-end, either way my ears make the call. A Cedar-Top Furch may get a pass, but I’m never “in a mix” on acoustic.

It’s a nice guitar but there’s a lot to choose from at that price point. The difference between strumming and finger picking was pretty extreme. The strumming sounded was more to my liking the finger picking however sounded like someone stuffed a towel in the guitar.

Its $4,500 for the rosewood and $5,000 for the koa (and since they're new and being hyped, you'll pay the sticker). And, seems I've heard this story before on new model Taylors, and each time when I played it in person = same sterile sound of its siblings. Not really sure why you'd even waste the time, when for half that, you can get a hand built Yairi that completely blows it away in feel and tone.

This is a cool guitar but it sounds a lot like my 24 year old $500 Carvin (Cort) jumbo. I’m not knocking the Taylor. I am still impressed with my Korean import from 2000.

    Nice . But I won’t pay much to have that guitar . Taylor’s are Taylor’s . Don’t change that .

Wait six months. You'll pay 60% to 70% of what's being asked now, for mint condition.

Sorry, but to my ear it sounds exactly like a Koa Taylor. Typical enhanced mids, sparkly highs, with a flat low end. They also play as if they have a compressor built into them, limiting the headroom when strummed hard and are a bit thin sounding when played fingerstyle. Maybe most telling of Taylor is you could put 100 of the same model in a room and you would be hard pressed to tell if one is better than another. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing. It might be a great stage guitar when predictability is king, and quality control, consistency, and playability is admired from a production standpoint, but to my ear, and for that kind of money, the Taylor sound is just too predictably sterile.
