On 08 350's you can take the dash out in one piece without taking all the parts apart. Unbolt it - pull it forward and disconnect the harnesses at the firewall side and out she comes. Why people completely disassemble dashes for this repair is beyond me - makes much more work.
Same thing on the 2010-2015/some 16's. And it only takes under an hour ta pull that whole dash, plenum box, and front seats and console. Also........I do this for a living. And I have made cabin air filters for sale for these trucks.
@@jasonlewis3966 I think it was around 16 hours or so. A good two days. We went step by step to ensure that all components were re-assembled properly including all connectors, grounds and interior components. We did not take any short cuts. We're not a flat rate shop so no rush was needed and this was a very particular client who doesn't want any rattles afterwards.
@@BuckleysAutoCare cool. Y'all ever come across the ford f250s that won't push any air thru the evaporator cause it's junked up with hair n dust cause of no cabin filter?
@@jasonlewis3966 no we really haven't. We try to keep our clients up to date on filters, etc and our area is basically short mileage. This client owns a bus company and is pretty on point with service, etc.
No, he"s working on a newer model. You and I are lucky(!), all that AC stuff is in the engine compartment on the passengers side firewall. No tearing the dash out for any of the heater or AC work!!! There are a few (very few) Utube videos on the years you need to see. And he's a scammer, there are one or two Utube videos on removing the dash etc. on the newer ones and it's actually a breeze if you know how. One video did it in 15 minutes, another in one hour. Kinda like Mishimoto themselves making a video on doing the radiators on your era. The guy removes the radiator support crossbeam. Dieseltechron and others show how to do it without going to all that hassle. My dealers shop manual for my 2001 Chevy Venture says to remove the whole dash and dash subframe, disconnect all the electrical and steering wheel....I did the same job as in this video, removed the HVAC box (I have a video on some of the job, including replacing all the weatherstripping on all the blend doors, 32 feet of it, using hemostats at times) and replaced the evaporator and heater core etc. . I only disconnected the dash pad (the exterior of the dash). It was a bitch finding all the connectors and snag points working "blind", but I did less than half the work the dealer manual said you had to. Watch all the Utube videos you can, and you should read some more of the comments here, it is mentioned what I said about how the dash removal is actually simple on the newer ones. PS, he is also full of it about the "updated" box. It is simply a new one. Notice his giveaway comment about the blend doors and "reassembling", and then he stuttered "from the....." the old box. He had to catch himself before he openly pointed out that the mechanical moving parts were being reused. The only mechanical parts on the box, and therefore the most likely thing to malfunction! On the old one he says some inane comment about "dirt down in there"...
