thanks for making this video. I removed my blower fan, blew out and washed the evap and got my a/c from 68 degrees to 41. 2 hours total and couldn't be happier.
Excellent video. They should have made a cabin air filter standard equipment in all trim levels to prevent this problem. If the air flow got very poor people would be forced to replace the filter.
Great video! I have just gain new respect for Ford. Finally, a manufacturer has created a twist and remove/install for an HVAC blower assembly! So many manufacturers are still mounting them with fasteners, and some manufactures require dash removal to get to some of those fasteners!
Looks like a construction truck. Exactly the situation with the truck I drive, it is in dust conditions all day. Although our 550s dont have twist off blower motor, I will fight the screws off. Good tip on a intake filter too. I am looking at getting a foaming cleaner to try, hopefully it doesnt just make a muddy mess. Its probably 90% blocked now. Thanks for these videos!
I was thinking the same thing about fashioning an air cabin filter for my ford explorer. After finding that a small screw fell through and destroyed most of the fins on the blower. Thanks again for the great mod ideas.
Took my Excursion to three diff shops not including dealer for a/c not getting cold enough. Not one suggested replacing the evap in dash. Finally after looking at a few videos I bought an oem evap and directed them to replace mine and out came a very dirty old evap covered in dog hair matts. Now the a/c works much much better but still don't have 41 air.
Question for you. Is there a cabin air filter on a 2009 f250 super duty and if so do you have a video of the replacement of it? Thanks so much, Ray Kaz.
Great video, great advice but it would have been nice to see you place a makeshift filter for the cabin but I assume you would place on top of the vent or under?
I enjoy your videos, very well done and informative! Thanks for putting them up. I was wondering how does the 08 F150 HVAC case compare to the one shown? I'm about to undertake a cleaning project on mine. I don't think it's as bad as what you have here, but I want to clean it before it's plugged fully. When I shift from heat to cool mode, I get a "Dusty" smell.
If you don't clean your interior, the dust has to go somewhere and that right into your evap . DONT BE LAZY... VACUUM AND WIPE IT CLEAN . As for cleaning, castrol superclean and the power washer works pretty good. Reason I've experienced this problem, I'm a trucker, lots of times previous trucker in the truck was a FUCKIN PIG.... and didn't clean. So I get to fix it myself or roast in a hot rig
I have a 2010 ford raptor with cooling issues from the a/c. The temperature at the vent is only 50 degrees. Is cleaning the evap the same procedure as this...Thanks
my 2008 f250 /v10,had this problem,i blew it and washed, it worked great,THANX,but now i have plenty of cold but NO heat in the cab at all, heater hoses are hot,i bought a heater control valve but cannot find it anywhere under the hood, did ford put it under the dash like they did the blower door actuator,???
hey could you make a video or explain on how to actually get the heater core out of a 2008 f250? do I have to take the dash off to get it out if so could u explain or is there a easier way
I have a 2011 f650, looks very similar & I was having low velocity. Since I knew about this problem because of a previous truck due to no cabin filter, I replaced my evaporator coil, air temperature sensor, expansion valve & dryer. Blows with high velocity but now it's only blowing at 65° from vents. Used to blow 50-55°. Got any ideal what could be going wrong or what could have been installed improperly? It's sure hot in texas.
I have a 2008 f350 super duty 6.4. Can you post a video of replacing the drivers side Blend Door Actuator? I know where it is located (Under the passenger side dash next to the drive shaft beam). I just don't know how to get to the back screw. Thanks!
I'm assuming this is just a severe dirt road usage vehicle and not a flood recovery vehicle. Also trees like cotton wood blooms can clog evaporators and cores. Great video.
The truck I'm working on has this problem, but it doesn't have factory air condition. Would it simply be the heater core that's possibly gummed up with dirt? No evaporator, as far as I know.
Have a 2010 f150 crew. Blower seems like its blowing fine, but had someone tell me doesnt feel as hard as it should. Ac blowing cool, but not cold anymore. Debating on whether its a blend door or not. Been like this a year. Seems my year F150 has no easy access to the evap to clean it unless you cut a hole in the airbox behind the glovebox. Any suggestions on things I should check before I cut this hole? I hate to do it, but I dont have $1200 to have someone pull the dash. Had the system sucked down and recharged. Pressures are holding great. No change in coolness. Pulling about 40 degrees at the vent on speed 2 while driving, about 50ish degrees on speed 4 while driving. Thanks for any help.
I have a Super Duty 250 2013 the air conditioner is cycling the freon is good any suggestions what it could be in the morning it is fine but as it heats up during the day it gets worse I was told possibly low pressure switch is there any way of checking that out by bypassing it it has 3 wires any help will be greatly appreciated
Hello,..can you tell me of any place I can put a cabin air filter on my f150 2013? and where did you buy your bosch ps41? I cant find it at home depot or canadian tire even though they sell other bosch tools,... Robert B
FordTechMakuloco thinking of putting a cabin filter in. My wife's Camry and sons Camry both have it. $6 to change once a year. If i put one on my 09 f150 would the cabin filter get wet from rain if it is under the wiper cowl? If yes, is there a dry place to put one?
Can you blow that all out while all of that is still in the dash? Our farm truck has cold air but VERY little flow. If we could blow that out without taking the whole dash apart, that would be great. So, is that possible?
hey could you make a video or explain on how to actually get the heater core out of a 2008 f250? do I have to take the dash off to get it out if so could u explain or is there a easier way
FordTechMakuloco , does the 2012 Super Duty have the same style of blower motor removal, twist and unlock/lock? I'm going to try your washing it out if so. Thanks for your videos!
I'm trying this method, with the addition of a borescope camera attached to a flexible blower nozzle. I can see the solid cake of dry mud on the evap coil, and some areas that have broken off. The thing is, going through the blower motor access, it's pretty much impossible to do more than just reach one area of the coil. Am I missing something? How can you see the coil without a camera in order to clean the whole thing? Any more details or Macgyver ideas on how to access / clean this thing would be great. Also, anyone else have success with this?
Yup farmers around here bouncing around the fields with fresh air mode and regular a/c get this all the time.really sucks,a $10 cheap filter is all it could take to prevent this, but NOOOO ford couldn't do that now.even the 2011+ have the same problem.sad part is even semi trucks have cab filters under the recirc door that is easily changeable.
Yes I have a '13 F150 that already had the evaporator coil replaced once at $1400. Almost two years later and I'm smelling ac oil in the cab again. Is Ford just using crap for evaporators now? Ive read through the forums and there's a lot of trucks within these few years that have evaporator leaks. My truck has never been off road or in a dusty environment.
I have a 84 f150 supercab and I'm getting air through the vents and defroster vents ...and air blows low I've changed blower motor and resistor what could be the problem
Great job on video. My 2 cents if u go this far go ahead and by a new one and buy a new heater core also. Make a cabin filter like he said. 50 for evap 20 for heater since saving on labor. Pressure wash the whole cabin come back with new stuff. If u break it down this far. That my 2 cents
I tried for 30 minutes to remove the blower motor, I can't get it out of the way enough to get a air nozzle in there. NO was I have a 2008 F250 Super Duty Crew Cab XLT. Any ideas?
I have this no ac problem in my 2011 I took off the blower motor and tried to blow it out but it didn't change anything. I've been saving for 8 months to pay the dealer the 2k to pull the dash.
God, why don't all manufacturers copy Ford, and make it so the blower motor just twists and locks into place? That's just too smart. Of course, not having a cabin air filter is not so smart.
My 2002 GMC twist lock in and out. 45 minutes to took it out went to Napa stood in line and back to replace with new blower motor. Couldn't be any easier.
Yup thats the smell... clean it well. Transport trucks get that smell too. I wash out the evap and its good after. Castrol superclean, soak it the rise it out and redo if needed. Last wash with Mr clean so it smells nice
never have i searched for something on youtube and found exactly what i wanted!!!! thanks for the video

The Silverado had this back in 1999

would this method work for a 2005 f 150 super crew cab?Keep up the great content.
does ford make a Cab air filter retrofit kit for a 2014 f150, or is there an aftermarket kit available?
I enjoy your videos, very well done and informative! Thanks for putting them up.

trying this tomorrow with my 2010 ford f250!! shop wanted 1100$ to fix. hope this works. excellent video!!

I'm looking for the same info for my 2010 heater core removal
What air filter would you recommend? 2008 F250sd
great video does the dash and heater case need to come apart to replace the evaporator

I have to do this tomorrow. Also the blend door motor assy' and pressure connector that is burned and melted. This is on a 2011 F650.
Great video, I have a 2009 F150 super crew. Can you elaborate on how to add a cabin air filter to that model?
Cab Fresh Air Filter Kit; Fits 2011-16 Ford Super Duty F250-550 (19811)
They might make one for your model year. Look on eBay.

I have a 2014 Ford F250 there's a smell of dust. I thought there's an cab filter but I guess not for this. What can I do thank you for your time

hey bro i love your videos thanks a lot your videos has help me a lot in the pass keep them coming thank you
How did you get to the bolt behind the turbo piping?
What about cutting a hole in the air box to really get at the evaporator?
Is the same hvac system as the 05 6.0L??
Thank you very helpful. 08 6.4 190k

Another great video.

I got mine from Amazon.com The only place you could get an air filter in there is at the fresh air inlet under the wiper cowl.
Being that dirty can you actually get it clean so flows through or would it just be better 6o install a new one?
I would just buy a new evap core. Why mess around?
We have done this method many times before and it comes back to like new status yes
Labor cost is high something like 10hrs
Can you blow that all out while all of that is still in the dash? Our farm truck has cold air but VERY little flow. If we could blow that out without taking the whole dash apart, that would be great. So, is that possible?
Christopher Jurgensmeyer Yes I show you how in this video just remove the blower motor.
hey could you make a video or explain on how to actually get the heater core out of a 2008 f250? do I have to take the dash off to get it out if so could u explain or is there a easier way
FordTechMakuloco , does the 2012 Super Duty have the same style of blower motor removal, twist and unlock/lock? I'm going to try your washing it out if so. Thanks for your videos!
Do you know of a part # that works as a retrofit for cabin air filter on a 2014 F350?
+Chris Thomas No I have never experimented sorry
On eBay and Amazon search for:
Cab Fresh Air Filter Kit; Fits 2011-16 Ford Super Duty F250-550 (19811)
2011 Ford f 250 cabin air filter location? I was to
Old it didn't have one???
We used to have phosphate mine trucks come in looking like this. I sure DON'T miss those mine trucks !!!!!!!
Ron Hart Blah, we have a ranger that comes in at times from the Chemical plant smell disgusting.

***** Nope what a crock right?
Great job on video. My 2 cents if u go this far go ahead and by a new one and buy a new heater core also. Make a cabin filter like he said. 50 for evap 20 for heater since saving on labor. Pressure wash the whole cabin come back with new stuff. If u break it down this far. That my 2 cents

Air won't do it.... needs castrol superclean, soak it good then pressure wash it or garden hose with pressure tip
Could this be the cause of cabin odors?
No..lol
I have this no ac problem in my 2011 I took off the blower motor and tried to blow it out but it didn't change anything. I've been saving for 8 months to pay the dealer the 2k to pull the dash.
This dust concern would produce more of a no or low air flow concern more than anything.
Simon Matthews my 2011 is doing the same thing did you ever get it fixed and what was the cause of it
2002 ford explorer no cabin air filter😞.
I'm sure this truck was used for off-road..
I have never seen something like,wowwww......
In cabin air filter???
Instructions via email for 2010 F350 lariet 4 door powerstroke please?
I imagine that the water comes out below because I didn't look where
And to think my 2002 gmc has cab filters.
My 2016 F450 doesn’t. Ford failed the customers.
Be nice if you could actually do the steps needed while it was in the truck.
A contractor or farmer
AC work is a PITA period.
jdmeaux I love a/c work except evaps.
👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
Ford being cheap like most manufacturers my 2016 F250 doesn't have a cabin air filter either.
God, why don't all manufacturers copy Ford, and make it so the blower motor just twists and locks into place? That's just too smart.
Of course, not having a cabin air filter is not so smart.
Better question is why isn't the rest of the Ford lineup the same way?
My 2002 GMC twist lock in and out. 45 minutes to took it out went to Napa stood in line and back to replace with new blower motor. Couldn't be any easier.
Would this help with smelly problem? My 08 6.4 has a bad smell on recirculation & even worse on fresh air?
Yup thats the smell... clean it well.
Transport trucks get that smell too. I wash out the evap and its good after. Castrol superclean, soak it the rise it out and redo if needed. Last wash with Mr clean so it smells nice
