    That is an aggressive disc with a strong frame and a good width for our rocky fields. Nice short axles for removal and replacing discs. I bet you make up the smaller width with more speed and a sharper cutting angle. Nice tool!

      Thank you. I just got in from switching the cows to the east pasture. It's great how things are growing.

    Man yeah Mr Will!! Been waiting for this one!! Thank you sir for explaining the details of the purchase and reasoning behind it!! Boy I bet that was an epic road trip!! Your commentary is spot on, love it sir!! I totally agree about the food plot guys, it's either a MASSIVE HUGE offset for 10's of thousands, or a small good one that go for outrageous money cause they want to cut a food lane for feeding!! That was my sole purpose for the disk plow to use in place of an offset due to cost. Although it didn't work either, so we shall moldboard plow and see what we can do!! Looks like it was doing a great job my friend!! Really enjoyed seeing the details and you out working it!! Thank you VERY MUCH sir for bringing us along!! Look fwd to more my friend !! 👍😁🚜

      Good morning Nelson. Glad you liked the video. I think I made a good decision buying it for what I do. It takes a few passes to chew up the old hay ground sod but it saves on passes with the light disk over plowing. Plus it chews willow brush roots better than plugging them up in a mold board. 😡 Of course when a decent plow sized right for the 4230 falls in my lap I won't pass it up. 🤣

    The thing about an off set disc just like you said, it takes quite a bit of power to pull them. It amazes me how much money deer hunters will spend on that hobby. I hunt with my pickup. Still expensive meat but I don't have to go out in sub zero weather and sit there all day freezing my @&# off. My daughter and favorite son-in-law hunt and give us some of the meat they get. I have neighbors on three sides of me that have purchased their farm and timber ground just for deer hunting. They have been after me just licking their lips wanting this property. As long as their is breath in my lungs the answer to that will remain no.
    It sure is nice to have extra power rather than be underpowered, isn't it Will? That sound guard cab is really nice too. I am mowing my 100 acres of pasture now with a 60" rotary pull type cutter. It is an old International that my Dad bought at a farm sale back in about 1970. We used it for chopping corn stalks. I am pulling it with the 2520. It is nice being in the cab with the windows open and the fan blowing. the noise is a bit much but I wear my 3M Work Tunes and listen to the radio while I mow down the thistles and the brush. The L2501 Kubota has the brush hog on it but the front seal is out of the gearbox. I have it at a friends welding/ repair shop. Should be done this week. I will need to use that when I work my way back into the big timber. I can't get around between and under the trees with the cab on the 2520.
    Thanks for showing this Will. See you for the next one.

      Thanks Gary. Awesome comment. Enough power is very nice. I like to deer hunt but I won't sit in a tree all day. When I was buying timber I talked with a lot of people who had bought land in Central Wisconsin just for hunting. Some of them had good ideas on land management others not so much.

    A buddy has a old JD 6' offset and behind his 2840, you know your dragging something around....That looks like a good disc.....Thanks Will

    Nice disc.. really not much different than JD, made it mexico... But it probably actually cuts, unlike JD..
    We had a set of 18.4-34 clamp ons.. came off the 4010, I think dad gave them away..
    There is such thing as going too fast with a disc, the faster you go, the more weight you need on top.. and they will walk and leave it even rougher than before..

    • @farawayfarm2520
      @farawayfarm2520  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they practically copied JD. There isn't a lot of visible differences. One thing I've noticed is a guy can make a pile of lumps in a hurry with a heavier disk. Thanks Ed.

    • @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin
      @GosselinFarmsEdGosselin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@farawayfarm2520 the JD offsets around here, won't dig in.. I know one guy who put 2,000 gallons of water on a 16', had it set as agresively as it would go.. just scratched the stubble...
      You might need to set your tilt a little different?? And don't half lap, unless you are planting potatoes... Lol

    • @farawayfarm2520
      @farawayfarm2520  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin I moved the tilt one hole from what it was when I first set it up and that made it track better for sure. I think maybe one more would be good. 👍

      Thank you. I quit overlapping soon after this video was made. I had to figure everything out as I went. No one ever used an offset where I grew up and the internet has more bad advice than good. I don't think I mentioned in the video that the disk never came with a book either. 👍🙂
