Had a great lesson with Jamie last week. Jamie is a very competent teacher and quickly worked out how to match the lesson to where I was at. He breaks things down really well, has apparently endless patience and made me feel like a star when I got the occasional thing right. Off to practice now; once I get these skills nailed I can have another lesson!

From the get-go Jamie’s focus was me and what I was doing right, what I could fix, and what I wanted to get out of the time we had available. He had clearly worked out what we were going to do ahead of time and had a deliberate, planned and organised approach towards ticking things off the list. My ride was spent sometimes leading, sometimes following, practicing skills, analysing slow-mo, sessioning sections and features, with Jamie always explaining and taking time to answer my questions.
Time and $ well spent. Stoked!

Hey there! I just wanted to share that I've been riding mountain bikes for about 5-6 years now, and I recently had a lesson with Jamie that completely changed my perspective. I thought I knew it all, but boy was I wrong! I now have a newfound appreciation for the skills I learned in my first lesson and feel like a smarter, smoother rider because of it. I can't wait for my next lesson with Jamie and highly recommend his services to anyone looking to up their mountain biking game. Thanks, Jamie!

Husband and I had a lesson with Jamie. Coming from a roadie background it was so good to learn the basics of mountain biking. Spent time doing work on trail scanning, bike positioning (incl some take home drills), correct braking, and managing drops. By the end of the trail I managed to go down a trail (Te Huinga) that was previously beyond my capabilities - so rapid progression in just 3 hours! Well worth it thanks Jamie

Wish I'd gotten a lesson earlier! Great instructor. Clear, simple, with easy work ons, video to show you the subtleties. Definitely do it!!

I recently had a lesson with Jamie and the short synopsis is that by the end of the lesson I was riding features I had spent 5 years avoiding. Jamie did a great job explaining fundamentals, helping me implement them, and then keeping it simple enough that I wasn't overloaded. I got better and had fun. Looking forward to using my new skills next time I ride.

It’s great to hear that you now feel confident riding those features that you were always skirting. Keep it up!

Great! I can recommend it. Jamie's got a great and easy style, and really helped me get more confidence and understanding on drops, which was what I wanted to concentrate on. Three hours of a nicely paced lesson - totally worth it.

Lesson with Jamie this week. What a huge difference this made! As he says we had plateaued and didn’t know what we were doing wrong. Jamie identified this quickly and gave us some excellent tips on body positioning, trail scanning and how to let the bike move around under you.
Brilliant stuff, simple and very effective.
    Can highly recommend 🤙🤙

It’s great to hear your feedback Brad. Glad that the loop I suggested for your afternoon went really well too and you found your new favourite trail! Looking forward to the next session.

Had a fab lesson with Jamie and highly recommend. I just wanted to feel more confident, to adventure out into grade 3 tracks in more control and not freak out! Practiced tips and omg quite amazing the difference this has made! I’m coming back for more!

Had a lesson with Jamie over the weekend as I'm working on progressing up to grade 4 tracks and doing drop offs. Jamie was AWESOME and I really got a lot out of the 3 hours. Especially learning how to use the right body positioning that makes those bigger scary drop offs no where near as scary! Looking forward to putting everything I have learned into practice over the next few weeks. Thanks heaps Jamie. I have been spreading the good word and I will definitely be back for more lessons (Will get my front brake sorted before then!!!) 😊

Had a lesson this week with Jamie, would highly recommend - the 3 hours went very fast and I know now when I'm not in good body position and have more confidence on downhills and braking.

I had a lesson with Jamie 2 weeks ago and learnt a few subtle changes can help my riding significantly. I'm practicing what I learnt on every ride at present and really happy with the results 🙂

Cheers Chris! Stoked to enable people to self diagnose how they're riding and understand why we do things to help it all make more sense. Looking forward to catching up again soon!

Thanks Jamie and NZ Mountain Biking for an awesome few hours helping me improve my riding. Really enjoyed your coaching style which made for a relaxed and fun arvo, whilst building some skills that made some of the more tricky stuff feel effortless - best part is that I can feel now when I’m getting it right abs when I’m getting it wrong... Looking forward to getting some more practice in soon 🤙

A very wise person once said the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is today.
I reckon it's the same with a lesson.
Enjoy your summer and I look forward to hearing from you soon Matt!

If you are reading this after listening to the video and you are still undecided whether to get a lesson with Jamie... Wait no longer. This man is a great "Kiwi", smooth communicator and knows his Sh..stuff. Young dog or old (like me) he'll teach ya a new trick. We never stop learning right.
Now is also a great time whilst there is a 'shortage' of tourists to support a local business.
Thanks again Jamie. I already feel smoother and faster after 1 and a half days of practice!

It was great to help you out Nev. You were a great student especially for your first ever lesson. Coming in not really knowing what you wanted to work on as a competent rider, I was happy to find a couple of "work ons" to simply progress your riding.
Looking forward to catching up with you and seeing your progress!

that little session we did has transformed my confidence on the steep stuff.
As we discussed that morning, much of the tracks in ChCh and the bike park have steep slippery chutes or steep fall away corner, basically all manner of breaks control challenges.
I have slowed things down, focussed on shifting the break balance forward, avoided skidding and worked on spotting the braking point.
As such I have tackled tracks that I may have taken some time to work up to.

Can I rock up and just say "watch me ride and tell me where I can improve"? Or do you need us go give you something to go off of?

    • @NewZealandMountainBiking
      @NewZealandMountainBiking  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

For sure. Quite often People don't know what they need to improve they just know something's not quite right. If I can't find something to help you out then that's your money back I reckon. Worst case we go for a sweet rip on the bikes 🤙
