This is a very useful video for anyone looking for a more budget friendly RC. I'd like to see a similar video for RCs around the 2-300$ range, 4-600$ range and 700$ and beyond.
I was able to get a 3s Granite at a local shop for the old price of $319! Check your local stores, sometimes they have the hook up. Plus you help a local small business owner.
I was sadly one of the customers who bought the 124016, although I did refund it, I decided to give 124016 v2 a try, and the entire cogging issue is completely fixed, and also has much longer range (about 50-100 meters longer)
Great video. I'm just looking at buying a tamiya car for my son's 8th birthday. Where did you get the build stand from? Also, could you tell me what the sports motor is? Thanks and keep up the great content.
I served in the MFO with the US Army, and the New Zealand army was there aswell. We made great friends. Since we were all from hawaii. The island people got to get to know each other. Learned about this channel from my kiwi brothers in arms. Pretty awesome!
In 2017, I bought My older of two nephews an ECX AMP DB it's been bulletproof, quick, easy to drive. Apparently, that model is sadly discontinued. I made the mistake of buying a Traxxas Slash brushless 2WD truck. Mistake! It's NOT that quick and tips/rolls over at end the mildest of turns. My Nephew looked back at Me and said "What a waste of $400"😜🤣 He's absolutely right. So I'm after a buggy that's easy to drive and is quick and reliable. Thanks for a great video.
My #1 worst wasn't (technically, "isn't", since I still have it) a car...it's a boat - the Atomik Barbwire 3 (also sold by other manufacturers, under different names). For anyone who has ever watched a fly constantly "turn on a dime" while flying, that's, essentially, what the Barbwire 3 does.
I love how sneaky creators have to get with thumbnails, as long as you have high quality content, thumbnails don't matter. And you my friends have high quality content!
i got a maverick strada dc drift car for one of my birthdays and it as soon as my friend arrived after the first 2 or 3 minutes of using it. one of the screws kept on coming off on something to do with the diff we replaced that. still have it though haven't used it in a while seems to struggle to counter drift not sure if its my drifting or if its the car maybe its got to be converted to rear wheel
i remember i got a Jada Big-Time RC 1:18 scale 2009 Corvette Stingray for like 25 dollars retail, it was surprisingly good for what it was, could move at a decent speed and had a range of like 50 feet, which is pretty much all you'd want if you were limited to the driveway of a duplex anyhow, it worked for about a week before the steering alignment became unsalvageable, i beat the crap out of the control mechanism doing 180 brake-turns constantly, then the batteries were stolen and my siblings rolled it through toothpaste, permanently trashing it
Yes!!! XLF has been nothing but trash in my experience. My F22 had one different shock that was much shorter, CVD pins that ejected constantly and differential gear teeth that sheared off immediately. It lasted a max of 4 hours total before the car was scrap and NO replacement parts to be found. Company and distributor were worthless. My experience with my F17 was basically the same except some parts can be found on ebay. Love the hell out of my JLB Cheetah 21101 and I got it way on the cheap.
Yes xlf are crap, stay away from cheap rc that's constantly rebranded by other companies, it means they're designed by one company to be sold to many other companies, so the rnd and support is almost non existent.. while jlb is legit rc company, they designed and sell their own rc, they even upgraded some weak parts that is the weak point and constantly broke in the past, like the hinge pin, and the cvd, they also upgrade the esc and receiver + transmitter to dumbo rc.
Sorry guys I have had nothing but heart ache with these cheap RC’s and now save my money up and buy one good one instead of two cheap ones. Love your videos though.
Best rc IMO is the axial yetti xl. It is discontinued but I’ve put mine through literal bell ponds mud stock… never done any upgrades, for the last 4 years… still runs perfect to this day…
The worst rc I ever was involved with was one my buddy got that he asked me to fix the Heng Long Mad Truck. I had one too years ago blew the diff first battery sold on fleabay.
I started out with HPI cars & trucks but now I'm looking at either the Traxxas 4wd Slash or 4wd Rustler. I'm just looking for a good basher & if I break something I won't have to wait long to get parts.
Surprised about the cheetah, for me it's a super fun rc to play with, it's insanely fast, jumps very high, and yes broke a lot (but fixing it is part of the fun 😅), but it doesn't have any problems like the other cars in the list, just getting more expensive since it became so popular..
they are about 300$ for the 120A version that is completely nuts if you ask me , but yes they do need a good driver to not break often (any car breaks anyway) .
I just *Git my first RC car a FTX Tracer it’s a brilliant little car for off road bashing I have had one what looked like a bad crash and it came away without a scratch it’s brilliant.
Biggest waste of money ever and should have been number 1 is the JLB Cheetah. Way better options in the same price range are the Redcat MT10E and purchase optional center diff or the Team Associated Rival MT10. Another RC that reaches the same scale of junk as the Cheetah but a 1/3 of the price is the ZD Racing Thunder MT10 9105. Can't believe that garbage didn't make the list lol. That truck has kept me from ever purchasing anything made by ZD Racing. Because of the cost I think the Cheetah should have been #1 on this list!
Worst RC car I've ever owned? HPI Dash. Really wasn't even a hobby-grade car, it had proportional steering and throttle but that's it. Cheap plastics, shit electronics, body was the only thing good about it and even then it was surprisingly a racing-level body - really thin polycarb that doesn't weigh much, great for track use but terrible for an entry-level model that will end up being crashed. Worst RC car I currently own? That would be the Traxxas Slayer. It's really not _that_ bad, after all it is based on the relatively proven REVO platform. But it _is_ a TRX 3.3 powered Traxxas model, which means the engine's powerful but completely unreliable. And no, I have not had that experience with ANY other nitro engine. TRX 2.5 wasn't the most thermally stable but at least started consistently, and my Dynamite Platinum engines (SH Engines captive import before SH came to the US) have been an absolute joy to run and hold their tunes really well. But the TRX 3.3 is a small-block that's trying to be a big-block, and that means small-block internals under a TON of stress. You really need to baby these things and run them rich, otherwise you risk snapping a conrod. Additionally, the Slayer handles like trash. The REVO was drivable due to its wide wheelbase. The Slayer doesn't have that, and as a result it just traction rolls everywhere. Best RC car I've ever owned? That has to be my 8ight 2.0. Handles really good, very snappy - almost too snappy, in fact, if you're not careful it'll bite you, so to speak. Like I've said before, I've had no issues with my Dynamite nitro engines and this is one of my cars that has one - a Dynamite Platinum .21XP to be precise. And it'll keep up with the E-buggies on a track, too - granted, 1/8th scale electric buggies are limited to running 4S when racing, but that's still impressive for an old nitro. I've got a lot of memories with this car and I'm sure it's got plenty more to give. And no, I'm not converting it to electric power, don't bother trying to convince me to do so.
The worst RC car I have had to date is the miserable Redcat Shredder 1/6 scale, I have had it for about a month and haven’t jumped, bashed or anything rough, and it sits on my work bench right now stripped apart being completely redone, it has broken 3 times, the last time, the wheel buckled on me, it’s horrible
There really isn't mu h difference from 124016 an the 018 i have 2 of them ...1i left sto k the other i put a 3900kv brushless set up,,,tires an rims from wl toy 12343 an painted them chrome..an filled shocks with drag racing shock oil and a 2s lips 6200 80c battery had to do a little modification for battery but this thing just flat out rips thru rugged grass..still have to put kv motor an esc in but wanted to see how long the differentials hold up...so far so good after a dozen or so passes...I HIGHLY suggest using tires an wheels an big ole 2s lips ONLY ..ITS cheap easy an a whole lot of fun takes bumps an jumps extremely softer then expected would love to see a. Video of you guys doin it peace from the land 16hrs behind yall
I have an arrma typhon 3s and a wltoys 144001 I would easily go with the typhon because it was hard to get parts for mine with shipping taking about a month and it kept bending drive shafts and shock shafts and my shocks leaked after about 3-6 months. I might have just gotten a bad one but I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone from my experience.
I have a HSP savagrey & its a money pit! fast as and fun but dont roll it or you break it,suspension needs upgrades out of the box. Now with complete newelectrics & full suspension upgrades with a 4s battery it goes great,on a footy oval lol,too scared to jump it as the bodies are expensive
I bought a 100 dollar rc car which was hobby grade though it felt extremely durable and fast it was the typhoon rc car BUT…the system gave up though yet I don’t know whether what the issue is.the car only steers but doesn’t move after 5 months even though it wasn’t used for 4 months,EVEN with toy grade cars this never happened to them
The worst rc car ive ever bought was the pestrol oil rc car, its toy grade, non proportional and goes 12mph. I bought it for 60$ and came with a calk gun, some of that good ol calk cream and orange and blue thread lock. Got my money back within the next hour but kept the additional items that i didnt pay for that came with it. I love my new calk n cream 😛 the i bought the rwd mini-z sorta pretended that the shell was broken right out of the box so i went back the next day and payed the difference for the awd mini z, i freakin love it, then the k989 came in the mail, i like it a lot, i just bought a die cast car from walmart thats a 1/24 scale, i can make it work, i ended up extending the wheel base, but now the wheels are locked so i think I have to push in the extended pinion in further so it can spin all wheels freely. Its s ford bronco by just trucks. Looks pretty sick, im going to look for the 1999 f150 because i have a 92 f150 in irl, and that i like the f series ford produced.
How is this keeping it real? They are comparing cheap crap to hobby grade. The cheap garbage they are showing was also copied from the top name brands. I hope all those knock off companies go bankrupt. That’s keeping it real.
I have the number two car it's laughable how bad it is but I want to put a 3S lipo in it I'm sure it won't burn out cuz the electronics are too cheap but at least it will go faster I love how bouncy it is the lights are great on it no complaints there I have an RC like the number one car I only paid $60 for it I absolutely love it for what it is you really don't want to drive it in the dirt with those types of Wheels but it will go in the dirt I just like how it will go in any direction from the controller
awesome and very helpful video, thank you so much, I really love that you two also enjoy cheap Rc's and Joe's humor is why I love your videos, I know Amber is cute but Joe is really funny man😂

The issues I have with the Traxxas Maxx is it is a nice RC but in the UK it’s £609, like are you kidding me, that’s about $300 more than what the US pay converted. I went for a Kraton EXB instead
As a beginner from the late 90s my first was a second hand Tamiya mad cap from m a friend then a Tamiya stadium blaster. Noticing the difference on quality kits it's worth the money In The long run. You only get what you pay for.
#1 worst rc car. The rustler 4x4 vxl. For the retail price of 429$ at the time of purchase 3 years ago. It was my first rc car. It was terrible at everything. Terrible durability, terrible shocks, terrible air control, terrible tires, terrible esc, terrible warranty, terrible radio and the worst of all the driveshafts. 11$ a piece at that time they were snapping in half by just running on pavement and short grass it was the only thing it was good at. I ran it daily at first it was good but after 2 weeks it started falling to bits. No i dont run on water on anything like that im a conservative driver and i dont do stupid things like going on diamond dust surfaces. The car made me even more depressed than i was before. Perfect money burner. Also you cant personalize the truck the only thing you can do is buy traxxas upgrades. Then i learned about arrma and traxxas shitty business dealings to stop RC innovation. I got the kraton 4x4 4s v1 after i sold my rustler for almost nothing, first ever jump fist backflip and for 2 years i did the same exact jump and the rustler failed. It had its issues but it put a smile in my face and did everything i wanted. Then got the 6s arrma’s gave me even a bigger smile. Now the kraton 4s is up for sale not because its bad but my other trucks are just better on every aspect. Kraton 4s is a skate park weapon tho because its made of plastic and wont make gunshot sounds landing on concrete
So you're a traxxas fan lol 😆 jk , I was pist off traxxas put arrma out of business litterly. I hate when people say thats business. Arrmas just tip of the ice burg they constantly go after rc companies for silky stuff as if they all don't improvise off each otgers designs. Traxxas littery copied rc 10 in the beginning. People like myself couldn't afford a rc 10 but traxxas bullet was obtainable. They also sued hpi for waterproof receiver box , I believe it put them under also. We got lucky horizon picking arrma up but they also a monopoly and pinch the penny for profit margins, arrma by itself cut no corners and did the opposite when it came to the gimmicks. Like this new vendetta is awesome don't get me wrong but littery wouldn't cost them anything to giving us the 120 amp esc instead of the 100 amp I mean I never really abused my rcs because too much time and money , but for 500 you got a screaming 6s you could launch and wouldn't break , now my exb close to 1000 even though more suited for bashing i have looking sharp and new , im not killing it the same as would previous. Actually my 300 granite was my favorite for whike , why I coukd come home from work or even take it with me , run for a hour a day rain snow or shine , parts were super cheap , I actually used the brcc for parts so it would stay new and just need rebuilding but be worth bc still new , now even more so as prices go up quality going down . So leads me to ask , do you still have tge kraton 4s for sale
@@paulclancy2404 my 6s exb’s dont have much upgrades fromt he after market. People like to put crazy money into i believe unnesesary parts. I went fro the vendetta pre order because i eanted a true on road car. The typhon tlr isnt one sure you could make it onroad but you need more money. The other big boys are 1000$ here vendetta is 505(50$less if i pre ordered before nov1)
@@paulclancy2404 i live in canada. My kraton 4s has a few key upgrades and tons of parts but i dont think you will want to pay for shipping. I have a lot of parts that are unavailable to purchase atm. Im selling it at 400$ ish usd. But i always list higher so people can ask for less
After Seeing your Thumbnail I was like WTF are these Crazed Kiwis Smoking now!???? Really!?? The Flagship from Traxxas made it on to the rckiwis shit RC list!????? I was Devastated, but quickly realised it was some disposition towards pantomime specifically to illicit the reaction that I gave!! Buggers! LoL Well thought out Video though. Have you guys road tested the new Team Corally XTR Kronos yet?? I have Two of them and can share some big Air vids footage in Dunes and some nice Whips at the BMX Track, all with the XTR Kronos with Standard Kronos Electronics and propulsion.
Look into the blackzon slayer. Not going to lie I take it to the skate park everytime I go for my friends to play with. Fully hobby grade an o my $75 USA dollars
Yep just looked at sure looks the same to me also. Even the controller is the same. Doesn’t have good suspension by any means but it sure can take a big beating. It’s been to the skate park over a dozen times going off the big ramps and I still yet to break a part. It’s actually willows rc she plays with and has the RC Kiwis sticker on it!! Maybe that’s why it’s so tough 😉
Most if not all of the things on your worst list I would not ever consider RC cars! Just garbage! When they have all the problems you spoke about I would not even consider spending 10 cents on any of these.
Best RC cars: Anything designed in the USA or Japan.
Traxxas is based out of the US but made in Tiwan
@@NoFearOffroad "Designed" in the US or Japan...
I read it as built……….😂😂😂LOL
Depends on the class your looking at. If you take 1/10th on road racing the best cars are current Russian and Slovakian 😂
Or traxxas
The cheapest way to fix the 124016 is to probably just buy the 124018 and put your own brushless setup in it.
Or just buy the v2 in 2023
@@Gustavo.Antunes_ their comment was posted when v2 didnt exist😢

144001 is 90$ and typhon is 370$ .... wtf are you talking about ( 144001 CVD's are 2$ btw )
Great video. Thank you for sharing.
The Max Tiger 3 by Racing Rally was my worst buy this year for sure.
Thumbnail got me🤣thought you guys were going to hate on the Xmaxx! Was about to unsubscribe🤣
We literally went out and bought the rubbish bin just for the thumbnail... 😂😂
@@TheRcKiwis 🤣🤣🤦♂️good one
You need a clip of Marty from MCM: "In the bin!"
I have a HSP savagrey & its a money pit! fast as and fun but dont roll it or you break it,suspension needs upgrades out of the box. Now with complete newelectrics & full suspension upgrades with a 4s battery
it goes great,on a footy oval lol,too scared to jump it as the bodies are expensive
Just started following you guys liking the informative vids 👍
Awesome! Welcome! 🍻
All these are better than any Arma vehicle they usually require repair out the box or after a few drives
Looks pretty sick, im going to look for the 1999 f150 because i have a 92 f150 in irl, and that i like the f series ford produced.
i hate the HSP savagery it's so slow and easy to break
I love Rc channels that keep it real don't let that MONSTER 👹 Horizon Hobby decide the content
Of course MIke! You can always count on us to keep it real here on TheRcKiwis! 🍻
How is this keeping it real? They are comparing cheap crap to hobby grade. The cheap garbage they are showing was also copied from the top name brands. I hope all those knock off companies go bankrupt. That’s keeping it real.
I'd like to know where you'd put the remo hobby cars there cheap and seem durable.
I have the WLtoys 124016, yes the cogging is a pain but if you start slow then take off it's not a bad rc
I have the number two car it's laughable how bad it is but I want to put a 3S lipo in it I'm sure it won't burn out cuz the electronics are too cheap but at least it will go faster I love how bouncy it is the lights are great on it no complaints there
I have an RC like the number one car I only paid $60 for it I absolutely love it for what it is you really don't want to drive it in the dirt with those types of Wheels but it will go in the dirt I just like how it will go in any direction from the controller
awesome and very helpful video, thank you so much, I really love that you two also enjoy cheap Rc's and Joe's humor is why I love your videos, I know Amber is cute but Joe is really funny man😂
😂 Cheers my bro!
Well no shit the name says it all.. WLTOYS..it’s a toy not hobby grade!! Lol 😂
At least you didn't say the Traxxas Xmaxx. Those things are supposedly the best RC car in the world.
The last one went fuckin sideways🤣🤣🤣🤣
So just wondering what did you do with the ones you dislike
Nice Video Joe and Amber 🙂🍻 agreed to the Rank 💯👌 .. Cheers!🍻
I figured the Xmaxx wasn’t going to be in the list of bad cars 😂😂
😅😉
Traxxas Xmaxx.Broke right out of the box on me.
Is it just me or does anyone else hear A$$ C cars instead of RC cars?
Great video and thanks 🙏 for the b’day wishes my UDIRC lancia delta drift car is on order from banggood my treat to myself. Thanks 4 the great reviews you show the cars warts and all, good 👍 or bad 👎 will look out for your top 10 video 😎🙏👍
Hope it was a good one and hope your car arrives soon! 🍻
@@TheRcKiwis it was a quiet one spent with my 22yr old Son I only had 2 beers 🍻and did the giving out of sweets to the trick and treaters. They went through a whole bucket of sweets 🍭!! 😆 I enjoyed it then the next day was my Son’s b’day 🥳 so all in all a great time Thankyou and hurry up the banggood not so express and send me my drift car pls…🙏 can’t wait to give it a bash and try drifting! Thankyou for your kind words have a great weekend 🍻🙏😎🙏
And what about Flyhal fc610?
Traxxas has been a constant project needing fixed and why don't they make them more out of metal and why don't their parts fit right
It's Christmas everyday ☺️
Lol, nice list!
I think that one expensive car that deservs to enter this list is the Team Corraly Kronos. Man... That sucks...
XD
The issues I have with the Traxxas Maxx is it is a nice RC but in the UK it’s £609, like are you kidding me, that’s about $300 more than what the US pay converted. I went for a Kraton EXB instead
Love our Kraton EXB!
That thumbnail is very misleading. That’s one of the best rc monster trucks lol
As a beginner from the late 90s my first was a second hand Tamiya mad cap from m a friend then a Tamiya stadium blaster. Noticing the difference on quality kits it's worth the money In The long run. You only get what you pay for.
This is cool everyone does the top best but never the top worst like it
#1 worst rc car.
Like this new vendetta is awesome don't get me wrong but littery wouldn't cost them anything to giving us the 120 amp esc instead of the 100 amp
I mean I never really abused my rcs because too much time and money , but for 500 you got a screaming 6s you could launch and wouldn't break , now my exb close to 1000 even though more suited for bashing i have looking sharp and new , im not killing it the same as would previous.
Buggers! LoL
Well thought out Video though. Have you guys road tested the new Team Corally XTR Kronos yet?? I have Two of them and can share some big Air vids footage in Dunes and some nice Whips at the BMX Track, all with the XTR Kronos with Standard Kronos Electronics and propulsion.
How much does lunch cost in Australia? Tin dollars, lol
AC car lol
Look into the blackzon slayer. Not going to lie I take it to the skate park everytime I go for my friends to play with. Fully hobby grade an o my $75 USA dollars
Hi Robert! Hope you are well! Will check that one out! Cheers 🍻
Just looked, looks like the HBX 16689!
The HBX 16889 and MN86KS the best bang per buck RC for my kids. Parts are cheap and available on alie, banggood etc.
Most if not all of the things on your worst list I would not ever consider RC cars! Just garbage! When they have all the problems you spoke about I would not even consider spending 10 cents on any of these.
